This season's site assistants are brilliant. Offered us a choice of several pitches which you don't normally get with the C&CC.

The site slopes down to the loch and all handstanding pitches are pretty much level (the rest are on a slope) and pretty much every pitch has a nice view.

One of my highlights includes dancing while washing up to keep the light on. (I got a signal with EE in the facilities block so was a reason to do the washing up!)

The dog walk is brilliant, and we don't have a dog! It's along the beach. We saw evidence of the local otter there but sadly no sign during our 2 night stay. Maybe because we didn't really watch first thing in the morning. However saw siskin and Redwing from our pitch.

There is a specialist Dog bathing area which I thought was a brilliant idea and a payphone in a hut within the site if you can't get a mobile signal as well as the owners house on site for emergencies. Also they provide a picnic room and information room. The info room has a book to record your wildlife spottings which we found very funny (see the 14th September 3017 entry) and useful as well as the usual local info leaflets.

They have recently moved the motorhome point to just by the entrance to the campsite as people were finding it noisy.

The facilities are some of the cleanest and best maintained I've seen on a site and the showers hot.

There is no playground but it isn't needed with the lovely location!

The shop is well stocked with the usual items plus a few extras and you can also get teas and coffees with the proceeds going to charity

We returned here after staying last year. It was nice that the wardens remembered us. The site is really something to look forward to staying at. The pitches are well laid out, the shower block is modern & lovely & warm. Just what's needed on a typical Scottish summer night!

Would definitely stay again next time we are on Skye.

This a relatively new and modern site with superb views out over the Loch. The pitches are generous and have been cleverly laid out in terraces to give each one views out over the Loch. There is easy access to the site with a manually operated security barrier. I understand it is a C&CC Franchise.

The toilet block is modern, clean and warm - just as well as we actually had strong winds and snow at the end of April! They even have a dog wash for fido after he had been swimming in the Loch!

TV and phone reception is very very poor. Wi fi is available from Highland Wi fi and the code can be purchased from reception. We paid 6. 00 for 24 hours. I understand the site is waiting to have its own system installed.

Although we were on Skye for the May Bank Holiday many Cafes etc were closed and the most common sign we saw was 'Closed'!

Very friendly wardens who helped us to find the best pitch for our large twin axle caravan. Also a lovely little shop and a great info centre and campers kitchen. The facilities are spotless, but as with all these sites are closed for cleaning for too long! Fresh chicken and duck eggs are available in the shop, when the girls comply! Beautiful pitches overlooking the loch. So peaceful that when we got there we just sat outside for hours, looking at the beautiful setting. The Isle of Skye is a great place to explore and this is a great site to spend a few days at before or after getting the ferry to the Outer Hebrides. We will definitely be back to stay next time we are in the area.

Stayed here for eight nights and we were very fortunate with the weather almost every day. The site is in an idyllic spot overlooking the loch, with a fantastic dog walking area that must be more than half a mile long. It's a partly sloping site so you may need levellers. The showers and loos are immaculate and there's a good laundry and washing up room. The motorhome service point is slightly tricky for longer units in that you are partially blocking the road round the site. The shop is pretty basic although they seem to have quite a lot of 'bits' rather than food. Staff are great, really helpful. If you need to do a bigger food shop there's a Co-op on the outskirts of Portree and also, fairly close to the Co-op, somewhere selling fruit and veg (the sign said they had other groceries as well, but we didn't visit so can't confirm). There is no longer a grocery shop in Edinbane. Occasional bus service going to Dunvegan and Portree but you need to watch some of them as they are school buses and you can't always get on. The bus stop (request only) is at the top of a fairly steep drive that's probably 1/4 mile long. The pub/restaurant is some distance from the site and some people we knew said it was pretty expensive - again we didn't visit so can't say for sure.

No children's playground (hooray!) and not really anywhere for ball games, so maybe not the place for a family holiday - having said that, it's good to get the little darlings out in to the fresh air isn't it?

We would definitely return to the site especially in May/June or possibly September/October. The midges were just starting to be a nuisance in the evenings so take some citronella candles and some Avon Skin-so-soft!

Scenic and absolutely beautiful surroundings but as we arrived on a last minute booking we were given the last available pitch. Shouldn't complain as it was down to our lack of planning but we were pitched in the thoroughfare to the shower block so all the foot traffic to and fro and the odd couple who didn't wish to walk and would drive to the toilets leaving their engines running as they did so.

There was also an air con extractor right here above our heads which spoilt the lovely peaceful evening we were hoping to enjoy.

Niggles maybe but after enjoying some fantastic sites on the hebrideas at much cheaper rates it was a reality check at the end of a lovely week.

Can't leave this post on a sour note so some positives, shower block good, friendly owners with a well stocked shop and great walking from here.
