Simply brilliant. Wardens could not be more helpful and despite being full they accomodated us (C&CC members) just outside the gate with a trailing EHU. Weather was awful but the facilities are spot on. Always a please coming here.

Also just down the road in Edinblane there's the Edinblane Inn which does fantastic restaurant quality food - very worth a visit if yoiu are feeling a bit plush.

Look out for the otters in the Loch but if that fails take the kids to watch the pigs on the farm - they are always entertaining.

Fabulous site. Must have the best and cleanest shower block and the MOST helpful and considerate owners. The site is well placed to enjoy all of Skye, but particularly the west, wilder side. Good access to all the peninsulas and Cuillins for great walking. Lovely views over the loch from all pitches. Wet fish van visits once per week with wonderful variety of fresh fish. Good local pub with amateur music nights twice a week - fantastic local music.

As members of the c&cc we were always headed here on our visit to Skye based on the standards of club sites and the awards the site has won from independent organisations.

The site does not disappoint with all the facilities block very clean(laundry uses £1 & 50p coins, £3. 50 for wash, £3. 00 for dryer was used by us).

Views out over loch very nice, we were on pitch 14 where we were able to watch otters feed each morning.

Be aware that the closest shop is 8 miles in Dunvegan where essentials can be bought, or 14 miles for a supermarket in Portree. Shop on site is for basics only.

Diesel at Portree was cheaper than on mainland.

Granary in Portree square does good food.

Out and about, don't miss kilt rock waterfall north of Portree, or, Neist Point lighthouse at farthest west point on island.

My 12 year old daughter and I spent 2 nights here at the beginning of July. We'd previously spent 2 nights on another site and spotted this on the way to Dunvegan.

Wow! What an amazing campsite! Now I'm not a regular camper but having spent 2 nights on, what I now know was a very basic site, this was real luxury.

The site team welcomed us, were very helpful and the wee shop was excellent and had pretty much all you would need in an emergency.

The toilets, well I don't know where to start. CLEAN is not the word, these were spotless, you could easily eat your food off the floor even with the underfloor heating. I can see why they've won prizes for their loos.

Pitching our tent was really easy. The ground was soft enough to take the pegs and the pitch was level.

We didn't have a problem with the dreaded midge and the views over the loch were stunning.

It wasn't the cheapest site (twice the cost of our previous one) but was probably good value considering the spotless facilities.

We will most likely stay here next time we visit Skye on a camping trip.

Absolutely beautiful site which was maintained to the highest standard. Toilet and shower block were superb and wonderfully clean.

Views over the loch were fantastic and the staff could not be more helpful and friendly.

Only down side is it is a bit remote so if you wish to visit Portree either take the bus from the top of the road or take your motorhome with you.

Ideal if you have a towing caravan as you can use the car. Will definitely be back.

We stayed for 5 nights in early June. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Our pitch was in a grass only field, which had 10 or 15 pitches; there was only 4 or 5 being used at the time, so we had plenty of room. The ground was in very good condition and the pitch was more or less level.

We had booked grass pitch with electric hook up, but the grass only field had no electric points and the nearest service pillar was in the next field, on the other side of a little steam, so our EHU had to run through some long grass and over the stream. The majority of units on the site were in the other field, where there are many hardstandings and most if not all of these pitches have a good view of the loch.

The toilets and showers were excellent and spotless. The site has a really good information room where you can get details of places to visit, places to eat and information about local wildlife.

Edinbane is a 15 or 20 minute walk from the site and we saw 2 pubs, both do food (booking is suggested) we had a nice meal at the “New Inn”, I was hoping for something familiar and filling, but the food on offer was a bit more up market, it was very nice but it was not very filling. We ate out one other night at the Royal Hotel in Portree, their meals were nice and much more to my liking.

We were blessed with very nice and sunny weather for most of the stay on Skye. We did some walking, took a boat trip from Elgol to Loch Coruisk and saw lots of seals on the way. We visited Dunvegan Castle and grounds, the castle has lots of interesting displays and the gardens are vey nice, there is also a very good tearoom for visitors.

Midges were quite a problem for us especially in the mornings when the air seemed to be quite still, they seemed to be waiting outside the tent for us to emerge!

One thing that stuck us as strange was that we could not put any glass into the recycling bins or into the general waste bin. We were told that the local council would fine the site if any glass was found in the refuse or recycling – we were told that the nearest bottle bank was in Edinbane. There is also another one at the co-op supermarket in Portree.

We really liked Skye, and this site is a great place to stay.
