We managed to choose a very hot few days and Plough Lane was pretty well full (a change from our last visit) despite that it didn't feel crowded. Facilities are as great as ever, very clean and with nice little touches - shower gel, shampoo, hand cream, magazines and sweets provided and even though some people think there aren't enough showers for a full site, we never had to queue.

The information pack is still very welcome, more stuff being added as they go along, the welcome is friendly and the owners are always ready for a chat.

We note that some people have had TV reception problems - we got over 100 channels including radio - maybe we just have a better aerial!

Very handy for the road network, supermarkets etc. And lots to see and do in the area.

To Find site:- Leave M4 at junction 17 and head towards Chippenham. At double traffic lights turn left at second set into Plough Lane. The site is a few hundred metres along this road on the right. There is a barrier with a telecom for you to contact reception.

Plough Lane is a delightful adultís only campsite situated a couple of miles north of the town of Chippenham and conveniently near the M4. The care and attention lavished on the site is clearly obvious when you arrive. Reception provides a really comprehensive information folder on arrival which you can retain until you leave. There are just 50 pitches, all of them on gravel hardstandings of a good size and generously spaced. They are set out around gravelled site roads with almost a garden like appearance. There are both standard pitches and fully serviced, the latter having a dedicated water supply and drain point. Electric points are convenient to all pitches and are rated at 16amps and use CEE17 blue connectors. There are several service points dotted around the site and the only chemical toilet emptying point is near to reception. There is no dedicated drive over motorhome waste point but site staff can arrange for a drain cover to be lifted if you have a suitable waste hose to reach. Otherwise, of course, tanks can be manually emptied. The toilet block is of an excellent standard and has some nice touches. There is a covered washing up area plus addition sinks in the well-equipped laundry room. There is not much lighting around the site at night so a torch would be useful. The site has free site wide WiFi but it does have DNS monitoring software which is in place to prevent navigation to unsuitable websites! In reception there is more local information plus book exchange. Price wise the site operate a one price all season which can make early/late stays more seem expensive compared to Club sites that operate seasonal pricing, during our midweek stay, in early October, the site was only 20% full.

The town of Chippenham is only a couple of miles away. There is an hourly bus service from near to the site into the town for those that donít want to use their own transport. Chippenham is a good shopping centre and on the outskirts there are several supermarkets. Many places of interest are within easy travelling distance. About ten minutesí walk from the site is the Plough Inn which has a nice looking restaurant although check the food serving times.

What a site - this is the best we have ever visited. The facilities are marvellous. The toilet blocks are immaculate, as is the whole site with easy access and excellent security. I hope that Plough Lane win an award in the Campsite of the Year because they truly deserve it for their attention to detail and customer service. This is better than any Caravan Club site we have ever stayed on and in peak season more reasonable.

We chose this site as it was in a good location for visiting the Cotswold's & Bath. When we arrived we were given a pack which had everything you needed to make your stay as stress free as possible The amenities were immaculate with lovely touches like shower gel etc. In our opinion the road noise was noticeable but not off putting, also our pitch really struggled to find and maintain a TV signal even though we tried all the gadgets we had. We found that the pitches looked untidy as we had to park our car at the front of our van and not at the side of it, which made them abandoned. In the end we chose to keep our car in the car park. All in all it was a nice site, but not one that we would rush back to.

Stopped at plough lane for 8 nights, as everyone has said excellent site, friendly welcome, clean & lots of extras. The only thing I would comment on is not enough shower cubicles for 52 pitches. Having said that we would go back there if we were in that area. Word of warning to anyone in a motorhome if you intend to visit castle coombe, the car park is at the top of the hill. We missed it no where to turn round in village, had to drive a few miles up steep narrow lane with over hanging trees 'ouch'

Wow what can we say yet another gem of a site that are part of Tranquil parks group.

The site is easy to find and just a stones throw from some out standing places of historic beauty which must be explored whilst you there.

This site itself is impeccable and Helen and Roger should be commended accordingly.

On arrival we were greeted and given a welcom pack which is by far the best we have ever seen, we were then shown our pitch. A good sized fully serviced which was nice and flat so there was no faffing about trying to level off.

Many people have slated the road noise from the A350 and to be fair yes it is there all be its very very distant. But if you engage it chat and listening to tranquil music with a glass of wine it's none existent (so stop tying to pick holes)

Over all a great site that will be given 10/10 and looking forward to our next visit
