The Ilse de Re is a beautiful island that is fully committed to those wishing a beach holiday whether you are after a camping or a hotel holiday. The site is situated a 5 minute walk from the beach and the beach is lovely. We were on the beach from mid morning to late evening with a short break to get ice-creams or baguettes from the beach shop 2 minutes away.
The site has everything that you would expect. Clean, well maintained facilities with plenty of hot water all day long. The site has its own pool, bar, restaurant and shop selling delicious warm fresh baguettes every morning.
Locally there is a lot to do from ambling around the picturesque villages and towns to heading into La Rochelle which also has a lot to offer.
Would we go again, absolutely! Would we advise others to go - absolutely not (only so we can get a space!).
