We stayed here for 3 nights last week. Pitches are well laid out and kept immaculate. Plenty of waterpoints around the site. Showers and toilets kept very clean and loads of hot water. The site was very busy, but everyone was so friendly. We cycled to Mevagissy but its not for the faint hearted. Two massive hills there and back, but Mevagissy is very pretty. We also cycled to Pentewan. There's a couple of nice pubs for eating and drinking. A lovely beach but the day we visited it was really windy, so there were only a few kite surfers. We could also cycle to St Austell town centre which we did a couple of times. Only one massive hill to contend with. Wheal Martyn clay mine is in cycling distance but again a few hills to tackle but great on the cycle back. A lovely campsite and very cheap. Certainly one to go back to. We spoke to a couple of people who used the site regularly and you could see why they keep returning

This is an excellent camp site. It is easily accessed from the main road between St Austell and Mevagissey. The pitches are level and of a good size and the hard standings and surrounding grass are kept in tip top condition. There are plenty of taps around for water. The site has a real safe feel to it and has a small and intimate feel to it also. Entry is by a key card operated barrier that you pay a £10 deposit for and returned on departure. Most cars obey the speed limits Ė there are the inevitable exceptions to this, but were rare Ė and the kids can play on their bikes and scooters safely. There is also a small playground but the big hit with the kids is the zip wire and the swimming pool. There is also a small games room and laundry. The pool is indoor but can be Ďairedí on warm days by a series of moveable glass panels. There is seating for parents who would rather supervise from the side than the pool itself. The pool is lovely and warm too. The toilets and showers were always clean and warm, though on one occasion the shower did decide to alternate with hot and cold blasts every time the water button was pressed. Like all camp sites the shower units are designed by a person who will never use them but thatís hardly the fault of the campsite nor is it unique. As campsite facilities go, they are some of the best Iíve come across. There are loads of things to do including a nice cycle trail from the site to Pentewan beach. The key questions are always, would I recommend it and would I go back again and the answer to both these questions in this case are an emphatic YES!

We have been to this site 5 or 6 times and every time has been great.

The toilets and showers are always clean with hot water for showers. The swimming pool is warm and clean and is a good size and safe for children with it not being to deep. The children's playground is really nice with swings, slide and a zip rope.

The campsite has a security barrier to enter which you have a key card to enter which you pay a small depoist for, The campsite at night is nice and quiet never had any problems with noise.

Out the back of the campsite is a nice bike track you can cycle down to Pentewan or if you don't mind the hill climb all the way to the lost gardens of heliagan. You are also within 10 mins of Mevagissey and about 20mins of local beaches.

Overall the campsite is excellent in every way.

This was our forth time at River valley and it was as excellent as ever.

I have posted four reviews about this site since 2009 and there's not much to add except that this still has to be the best site in Cornwall.

The static caravans are immaculate, the staff are absolutely brilliant, in fact 10 out of 10 for everything.

Caravan number 13 this year, swimming pool brilliant, grounds lovely, location excellent, what more can I say.

The only down side was that the pigs and chickens in the field next door have now been moved, we used to love meeting them and going into the field with them but this is only a minor downer.

To the family, keep up the good work and never change a thing.

Had the most amazing time at this fab campsite, wished we had booked a fortnight as there is so much to see and do. The campsite has great facilities including a play park for my two sons (2 and 5) and a swimming pool which was brilliant. There is a small shop nearby and an Asda within a 5 minute drive. The site is fairly small and quiet at night and the static we stayed in was immaculate and had everything we needed.

We visited several nearby beaches, cycled along the camel trail to padstow, visited the lost gardens of helligan, took a boat trip from Megavissey to Fowley and cycled from the campsite to Pentewan bay and to the local pub.

Would definitely return again although took us 7 and 1/2 hours to return home to Nottingham so would suggest leave early if travelling in school holidays!

We stayed here for a week at the begining of July 2013. We booked the site some weeks before but due to a change of cicumstances had to change our day of arrival, this wasn't a problem in fact they couldn't have been more helpful. The site is well placed for touring, and visiting Helligan and the Eden Project.

Things we loved about the site

Lovely large pitches

Excellent shower/bathroom facilities

Peaceful and not crowded.

(Would loved a go on the zip wire)wished I was 10??

Walkes along the river

Walk/cycle to Petewan

Friendly staff

Information and advice updated daily

Cleanliness of facilities and site

Pool was a nice size and well cared for, but not a priority for us.

A big thank you for a great stay
