One of the best sites we have stayed on; immaculately designed and maintained both in respect of pitches and facilities. Best feature for us was the friendliness and flexibility of the staff. I had the impression that everything I would ask for would get a 'yes' answer. We are childless so could not rate 'child friendliness'. We did see one or two children with smiles on their faces.

Excellent site and I agree with all the previous reviews. The site is popular with the best dog walk I have come across. The only thing you need to be ready for is the access up the final bit of lane. It is tight and you need to take your time;I believe it will be widened this winter. A superb site and one for visiting again

Just returned from an amazing holiday in Cornwall. Stayed in 2 campsites, and both were lovely. Trethem is a lovely, picturesque campsite with large pitches, and great facilities. Its nearest town to visit is St Mawes which is a lovely little place with nice pubs and restaurants, but is a drive! Its an award winning site for a reason, very well kept, lovely hedges that provide privacy, and even you own picnic table.

Fabulous site! Stayed here for a week in a folding camper on a grass pitch. Owner very helpful- helped us site the camper and get it level. Also lent us a stepladder for the awning!

Facilities excellent- toilets, showers and washing up area kept immaculately clean and never seemed busy. Useful freezer storage for ice blocks, which was open all the time.

Reception and small shop open 8am -8pm, and they will order bread in for you from an excellent local bakery. Fish and chips van visited twice a week, and also a wood fired pizza van- the best pizza I've ever tasted.

Kids loved the playing field- football goalposts and badminton net and swing-and enjoyed playing football with the other children on site.

Site in a valley, very quiet with lots of birdsong-and we saw a tawny owl in the lane one evening.

Weather mixed but went to Porthcurnick beach once- safe beach and good for kids kayaking, but quite crowded and mainly families with young children. You need to get there early as you have to park on the road. Also went to Charlestown to the shipwreck museum- this was really interesting and we all enjoyed it.

Walked to St Just in Roseland from the campsite, across fields-easy one mile walk to a lovely church with tidal pool in front of it.

Would thoroughly recommend, if you like peace and quiet and the coast.

Had our motorhome for just over 3 years & can honestly say this is the best site we have stayed on. First impressions count and from the very picturesqe entrance all the way through the extremely well manicured site we just knew it was going to be a brill holiday. We did arrive on the back of a pick-up truck due to clutch problems but nothing was too much trouble and the assistance we received from staff & fellow guests to get onto our pitch was excellent. Many thanks to all.

Facilities on site were fantastic. Only used main toilet/shower block so can't comment on family/personal ones but main one was great, very clean & tidy, extremely good sized showers with plenty hot water & more hooks than you're ever likely to need. Site wasn't full but reasonably busy but didn't need to queue once.

Fully serviced level pitch was more than ample for our motorhome & canopy & a van we hired for getting around.

Had a wander around site and it is excellently maintained, very well laid out, the pitch we stayed in was excellent but all the other pitches we saw looked great as well.

Didn't use shop but wash up facilities were great, fish & chip van & pizza van on site some nights served good quality & selection of food.

Reception was great with lots of useful information staff were always friendly & helpful.

Location is a little bit isolated but this is a good point as very quiet and as long as you don't meet anything on track to site you will certainly not be disappointed when you get there.

I have ranted on a bit here but this site more than deserves any praise it gets as it really is that good. Will certainly return.

This site truly qualifies for Best Of British – a worthy Five-Star site! The pitches are all generously sized, and most are provided with a picnic table. The hardstanding (fast-draining granite chippings) was wide and long enough to accommodate our large motorhome, our car and the picnic table with room to spare. Hedging provided not only separation between adjacent pitches but also food and accommodation for extensive birdlife – we live in the country but have far fewer bird varieties than Trethem.

All the grass was very neatly trimmed, with no sign of stray cuttings. The hardstandings and tarmac road edges were manually cleared of any stray weeds which had dared enter the site.

The washrooms and shower suites were warm, very clean and tidy, with sponges and cleaning spray provided to help campers keep it so. Doors to the areas had automatic door-closers so energy was conserved even if inconsiderate campers couldn’t bother to close doors behind them. For once there was absolutely no shortage of hooks in these areas. Background music is relaxing.

The large off-lead dog run is excellent. It isn’t totally dog-proof fenced but there are no real dangers. For those with children there is a very good playground and also a field with football goalposts, basketball nett, etc.

The only reason we have given only 9 out of 10 for Location is the remoteness for anyone wanting to tour the area or shop for anything but essentials.

The friendly owners seem to work very hard at keeping the site perfect. Being well off the road to St Mawes the site is peaceful and relaxing. The shop takes orders for bread and newspapers but otherwise has a stock of most essentials. The van which came on Saturday evenings had really good quality fish and chips - far better than many pubs.

We will return!
