Just returned from this amazing site, what can I say perfect location just of the beaten track but close enough to civilisation if you need it,

Local attractions to many to list but the red kite feeding station is a must

Staff so accommodating nothing is a problem and the facilities are spotless and A1

I won't recommend this to my friends as its going to be my guilty pleasure

Stayed here for two nights and found the site to be well maintained and laid out, clean and practical facilities not too far from anywhere on the tent field, and close to a superb campers herb garden which we could pick some herbs as we liked.

The site warden and other staff were friendly and very accommodating. We arrived quite late in the evening and confirmed our pitch by telephone. Good reception and the site has wifi, though we didn't really need it.

We would definitely stay again but would choose a pitch further from the children's play area. There is plenty of space though finding a flat area is slightly more of a challenge, but this does mean that you are not right next to anyone unless by choice.

The site is on the opposite shore of Loch Ken to a RSPB reserve where there are hides for bird watching and we would highly recommend spending some time there watching the wide variety of bird life. It is also well placed to visit some of the superb visitor attractions in the area.

Midge repellent highly recommended as with any other place in the west of Scotland, and please observe the 'Quiet Time' out of respect to other campers on the site.

Arrive on the site at around 7pm.

There is a white board by the reception to give late comers instructions on where to pitch.

There is a large field extending from the main road all the way down to the loch. There are no indications of pitch. It was rather empty when we arrived; not sure how things go when it gets busier.

The ground is good enough to pitch. The reception also is a well appointed shop where pegs can be found if you forget yours, as we did.

There is a couple of clean portacabin shower blocks (one for male, one for female) next to the sinks at the top of the field, with a kitchen garden for collecting fresh herbs if you want some for your cooking or BBQ.

Very please by the venue overall.

Only inconvenience was with a big group of campers who didn't look after their children, and the time of the curfew made no difference to their parenting, sadly.

So, when you see the play area, try to pitch as far as possible from it if you don't want or need the company of children.

The RSPB reserve across the loch is well worth a walk as there is an observation platform and a couple of hides to watch birds and local wildlife by the lochside.

Just back from our first visit to this campsite. We were in a tent with EHU. One couple, 4 year old and dog.

Lovely, well maintained campsite. Spotless toilets (cant help the grass underfoot but otherwise facilities immaculate), shop selling the essentials, a couple of play areas for children and friendly, helpful staff. Smashing views over the loch and lots of space for the young children to run about. Seems quite popular with fishermen too.

We didn't hire boats or pedaloes but definitely will next time. The loch looks like a great place for a skiddle about in the warm weather, boating, swimming, paddling or fishing. We had planned to go a walk on one of the Red Kite trails but apart from a stroll around the site we hardly moved off the tent area as our grandson was having a whale of a time with the young friends he made, just running around in the fresh air. Would definitely recommend this site for those wanting good old-fashioned fun and fresh air. No clubroom or electronic games room here! We didn't want to leave.

My Husband and I returned from this site today after staying for 2 nights. We were lucky to be offered a pitch that had been recently cancelled as they were fully booked.

This site is in a glorious area with beautiful views and nestled on the shore of Loch Ken, it is ideal for families, having lots of space for children to play. We noted that this site is also popular with fishermen and visitors bringing their own boats.

There is a couple of children's playgrounds, a variety of different boating craft to hire, outdoor chess and table tennis available.

The shop is open all day, and a 24hr indoor information room available.

Wardens are very helpful, polite and friendly.

The toilets and showers are spotless, three toilets and three cubicles with shower, toilet and wash basin in the ladies, can't comment on the gents as my Husband didn't use them.

Our pitch was on a spacious hardstanding, we struggled to get the awning pegs into it, (these pegs were for hardstanding ground), and had to borrow a heavier hammer.

This is a well kept, organised site.

We stayed for 5 nights during the Easter Holidays, although busy it didn't feel packed. Our pitch was very spacious with room for the van, awning & car side by side. Our son enjoyed the play park and the freedom he had to play in a safe environment. He also enjoyed the rope swing and hiring a rowing boat with his dad.

Toilets & Showers were spotlessly clean and warm, plenty of hot water, the only criticism if I had to have one is there could be more showers/toilets although it wasn't an issue for us, I could imagine there being a queue in the summer hols.

All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed visiting the beaches in the area and also the local National Trust property.

We will definitely be back, my sons favourite campsite so far.
