Golden sands is an amazing site, it was very friendly and inviting. The grounds was well sorted out due to the weather, the static caravan I was in was a standard van. Standard was the word, there was only 1 heater in the sitting room, none in the bedrooms, we had to ask for more bed linen as there wasn't none in the van.

The site is very close to town and town is a nice look around. We found a very nice and well priced pub

The Montalt Arms.

Just returned back here today after a 3 night stay that was meant to be a 4 night stay, we camped on a basic non electric pitch and we got what we paid for!

Good points - the staff were very helpful and you can charge your phones, iPads whatever and freeze your ice blocks free of charge at the camp reception.

Unfortunately there are far more bad points. The campsite itself is really far away from any of the entertainment and every time we wanted to do anything we had to drive down there. The beach is also far away, that involved a little drive then a 10 minute walk. We visited the swimming pool and they let way too many people in it was overcrowded and noisy and we had to queue for both lockers then a changing room when we came out (this probably wouldn't be a problem in term time breaks) id read somewhere the mini golf was free. Not the case and a big bug bare was the fair rides we went in major peak season and they operate at around £1. 50 to £2 a ride and quite often with only 1 or 2 children on per ride when they could hold 20 plus why wouldn't they include this within the fun works passes? Security was also an issue as we drove on and off site many times without question.

We didn't bother with any evening entertainment as it was too far from the campsite and by then we fancied a few drinks and couldn't drive. Maybe some kind of transport every hour or so would have encouraged us to go? Our holiday was cut short by (I'm told a freak but I don't know?) plague of little midges literally trillions of them on everything and they were small enough to slip though the mosquito net

On the plus side this break was all about the kids and they enjoyed it but I doubt we would return as there are better more contained sites out there

Just had a good 7 night stay at Golden sands, Nice level pitch with washrooms that are being cleaned all of the time(I liked the ones near the Tourers office best).

Special mention for Richard(warden) was very helpful and worked long hours.

Nice walk into Maplethorpe(all flat). Lots of clearance stores in town. Very nice beach.

We had trips out to Lincoln and Skegness. Free wifi at the restaurant on the main site.

Just returned early from a booked three nights on Golden sands. An early season shakedown, cut one night short by personal reasons. To say I was amazed by the site and facilities is an understatement. The three nights cost £27. 30, this was for a fully serviced hard standing of about 9;square metres with awning, dog and entertainment passes. The staff on this site are truly courteous, friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

The toilet facilities are clean, warm and compare favourably with any we have previously visited. It is a massive site dominated by static caravans, but the touring areas are clean and well maintained. I could imagine issues regarding the areas cutting up in wet weather (due to it being grass with concrete pad hard standings. )

Mablethorpe itself has a rundown feel to it, but the beaches are great and on the north side dog friendly all year. The same three nights next week on the c. And c. C. Site costs over £60 for a pitch with ehu and the probability of not being able to put up my awning due to the 6m. Rule.

At this time of year, with long dark nights the sites entertainment area is a real bonus. I appreciate that not everyone sees this as a positive, but to me the option of a clubhouse with live entertainment was appreciated. Undoubtedly this site will be noisier at weekends and school holidays, but midweek and early/late season it ticks all the boxes.

Walking round the touring area we saw numerous play areas, two fishing lakes, a small convenience store, two well appointed toilet blocks. At the main entrance is the entertainment complex with fast food stores, and a larger convenience store. It is obvious that Haven are spending a lot of money developing the area and this coupled with the superb staff should guarantee them well deserved success. I have been a tad wary of booking Haven sites due to the mixed reviews on this site but based on this visit I will not hesitate in future.

We arrived at the site during severe weather. The touring staffs were battling with tents, assisting the poor people who were being flooded or blown away. They apologised for the short wait we had to book in understandable at the time. They directed us to the touring field to our “super pitch”. This is were it started to look bad. The pitch was booked but we were informed we could have any pitch we liked. The pitches were a slab of concrete with a pool of mud next to it for the awnings. All the available pitches were in the same condition. Hardly a “super pitch”. During our stay numerous bags of gravel were delivered and this was used to try and patch some of the pitches. A valiant effort by touring staff. But too little too late. I felt the touring area was poor on both fields and touring holiday makers were treated as a substandard guest. The toilet facilities were supposed to be entry by key code but were wedged open and the door closers were broken off. People walking past could see anyone using the urinals. This according to my wife and daughters were the same condition with the ladies facilities. This lead to the inevitable children misusing the facilities unsupervised. The showers were poor and often ran cold. The sinks for washing up cooking utensils had no plugs. Not what was expected from brochure descriptions?

The touring staff were polite and friendly but had a thankless task given what they had to work with.

The entertainment area on the ground floor was horrendous it smelt like the carpet was rotting and something had died, your feet stuck to it. (I found myself wiping my feet on the way out!)

This detracted from the hard working entertainment staff. My children also complained the volume of the speakers was excessive.

The indoor pool area had been recently upgraded and was clean and bright. My only criticism was it was not big enough for the size of the site and did get crowded. The outside pool was clean and heated. Overall it gave the impression that the site was run down and had little investment in it. We were also subjected to hard sell by static caravan sales reps.

There is a SPAR shop on the complex that did appear to be a little expensive for what they sold. This was not a problem if you were prepared to travel a short distance to Mablethorpe and had the choice of CO-OP or LIDL. This was about a 15 minute walk or you could catch the Land train from outside the complex entrance.

The beach was a short distance from the site across a road and also had the Seal sanctuary which is worth a visit. The beach was clean and sandy it also has the sand train which is the beach version of the land train that followed a parallel route into Mablethorpe.

Great site, very close to a nice beach, and a lovely walk into the town of Mablethorpe. Loads to do, plenty to see and the kids will have a ball. The attractions on the seafront are good value for money as well.

The little train that goes between mablethorpe and the sea lion centre is fun for the kids and there is also one on the beach.

Onsite, a papa johns pizza is an absolute must.

All in all, well worth a visit.
