Just a weekend away visit, the directions given on the website are very good, it says not to trust a sat nav so I didn't even use one.

We visited the weekend after the beast from the East storm, the snow was gone but the roads were wet (Very dirty van), and the roads are very narrow and pretty much single track (With passing places). On the way the road was dotted with some large potholes, but on the way back they had been filled by the local council :-).

So on to the site itself.

Fist impression was it was fairly small, we were on the king fisher pitches, which are fully serviced, make sure you have a suitable length of water pipe as I turned up with a standard off the shelf water kit and found it about 4 meters too short and the on site shop did not seem to stock water connectors or drainage pipe etc, the view was wonderful, looking out from an elevated position down to the river and marina.

As it was very early in the season there were not many visitors on the other pitches lower down toward the marina, even when the site is full I would imagine the view would still be good. Again as it was quiet we had the indoor swimming pool to ourselves which was clean and warm, with changing rooms and showers.

Only one of the toilet blocks was open at the time of our visit, but I would imagine that they are all usable in high season.

They were clean and warm, each with a toilet and sink, the doors were code locked, so if your anything like me write it down as by the time I had walked the whole 1 minute distance I had forgotten it!

The staff were friendly and the shop on site was very useful as we run out of teabags !.

The Waveney Inn was nice, a basic menu, fish and chips, burgers, pasta etc and what ever was on the special board such a steaks, but the portion sizes were very good and it was very well presented and tasty. The staff were great and dogs are welcome as well.

All in all a very relaxed location and we will certainly visit again

A lovely site and not too expensive for what is on offer - free swimming included in the price and we had the pool to ourselves, there is also a Jacuzzi which was a first for us.

There is a shop which sells most things, including wine but not spirits, so buy these at Morrisons near the main road at the edge of Beccles.

We had a meal in the pub, but it was only average.

The ferry is not running at this time of year; we were taken across the river in a day boat. There is no landing stage on the far side of the river, just a muddy bank. Coming back the tide had gone out and we had to access the boat by a foot wide plank at a 45 degree angle. OH had to carry the dog, don't know how he did it, and both OH and the boatman had to hang onto my hands. So would suggest not using it in the winter.

The road to the site is a nightmare, and muddy, your car and caravan will get filthy.

Don't let any of the above put you off, it really is lovely.

The Site and facilities are superb, staff very welcoming, everything is kept in good order. There is a swimming pool and Jacuzzi, we didn't use these, they did look excellent though. Nice places to walk the dog, and the pub you can take the dog as well. Didn't use the ferry to go to the other side, but the reviews on this were very good as well. I suppose the only downside is the road to get to the site which is a single track, there are passing places though, we will certainly go back

Nice and fairly small campsite at an attractive location by the river, with pretty good facilities and an impressive eco-commitment (recycling, water re-use, low energy showers/lights, etc). The pitches are a reasonable size though it's a shame some of the small hedges between many of the plots have been cut back - they'd have provided a bit more privacy previously. Showers and toilets are good, as are the washing-up facilities, there's a reasonable shop on site, and though we didn't use it there's also a very modern indoor pool. Other facilities include the laundry, a children's playground, a small ferry across the river in front of the site, and the Waveney Inn which does food. The menu's fairly standard and it's reasonably-priced. If you want a nice evening meal out though, with some atmosphere, you'll need to drive to one of the nearby villages and eat in one of the more characterful pubs there. Staff at the site are friendly. Overall, a decent site - and growing too, as they build more large wooden chalets with hot tubs attached.

Just had a week there with my wife & collie dog. Fantastic place and would recommend it to anyone. We had a Kingfisher super pitch which meant we had a water supply, waste & television hook up(useful as could get nothing using our aerial)Toilets & showers were nice as you had a room to yourself and never a queue (admittedly it was a quiet week so don't know about peak holiday times! Staff were accommodating and even managed to move our booking on a week due to my tow vehicle being incapacitated when we should have been going. As previously mentioned in other reviews, the road to the site is very narrow, but caused us no problems whatsoever. It's a tranquil but busy site with a lovely view of the Marina and passing boats on the river. The Waveney arms is a pub/restaurant on site with a patio area where a relaxing drink was most welcome after a day sightseeing. The food was excellent with a wide choice at reasonable prices. All in all one of the nicer sites we've been to.

Have just returned from a weeks stay, we were in a motorhome on a Kingfisher pitch, with excellent views to the marina. We used the ferry a few times and took the 50 min walk into Oulton Broads through the fields, where a couple of times we used the train from Oulton Broad north straight through to Norwich (30 mins)and also to Lowestoft from the same station. We choose our holidays when children have returned to school, so the campsite was mainly couples and on the 2 occasions we used the pool we had it to ourselves, it was a good size and very clean. The Waveney Inn food was excellent, good portions and price reflected the quality of the food, we eat there 3 times in all. We also stayed in the Captains Cabin for 1 night as it was our anniversary, lovely spacious room and a great nights sleep, with breakfast included in the price. We hired one of the boats for a morning and thoroughly enjoyed our trip into Beccles. All facilities were good and staff very friendly, will definitely return to this campsite as 1 week was not long enough for us.
