Wonderful site and views of the hills when you arrive. From the town the road to the site is east, not clearly marked and up a very very steep residential road with cars parked all along the road.
When you arrive the gates are locked and you need to go to the park warden which is a pain but very polite service and after paying a deposit for a key to open the gate we were in and settled quickly.
Wide Pitches, only complaint would be about bits of litter blowing around the edges of the field and had been there for a while.
Toilet block very clean and free hot showers fab.
Great location with a cafe within the visitor centre if you require refreshments.

This campsite is within a national park, and alongside the road in. So, it's a lovely location, but there is a steady stream of non-campers flowing by which is a little odd when you're walking to the shower still in your PJs being watched by fully clothed strangers. And there were arguing drunks very slowly walking by in the small hours.
The loos and showers are very. Swimming baths style. Grotty really. The shower cubicles don't have anyway of showering you without showering your towel or clothes too. Also, there's an impossible to remember the combination keypad to get into them. So when you forget to take the slip of paper with the code on, you have to walk back to get it.
And finding it? Not easy either.
Then finding the park ranger to let you in? Nope. Although when we did find him, he was very nice.
It's rather clear that this site is a means for a little extra funding for the park that is clearly underfunded in an unloved area.
On our tour of Wales, this was one of the most expensive sites too

Ok, just got back from my second stay at this site,
Showers, awesome, didn't matter how many were on they came belting out, not dribbling like last time, however , they were way too hot, nearly melted, could hear kids screaming due to the temperature,
Pitches - Since I was here last, they seem to have changed the pitches around, as in I couldn't go on the tent pitches as they thought my tent was too big, they only allow 4 man tents on the top tier of the pitches,
They tried to offer me a refund, but we were looking forward to it so they moved us to the caravan park, which we were grateful about, however, grasscrete is a nightmare to pitch on and the small grass areas between the grasscrete are too small to pitch on, so we were half on and half off
The thing that peeved me more was that the large pitches were only half used and the so called small pitches, which I stayed on last year had bigger tents on than mine, so we could have stayed on these pitches,
They have reduced their bottom pitches by extending the car park so less people can stay now
The parks are still good fun for the kids

Visited here for a first camping trip with my kids, used a halfords 4 man tent which was horrible.
The site was ok, its a country park with some lovely views and a river near by which you could hear and was soothing,
The coffee shop is very well priced
Shower blocks are ok, but if all showers are being used the water just dribbled out, shame really
All in all it is a nice little peaceful site, we are going again this year. It hammered down with rain when we went last time so hoping for better weather.
One review states they had a problem with their hookup, we did too, but there was a switch hidden on the unit that activated it so you could use it.
At 5. 75 per night for tent and 2 people with elec hookup, great value

Stayed here twice in March 2011 for two long weekends and would definitely return again.
The views were stunning, there were loads of walks,3 of which were mapped out ranging from easy to strenuous. Its a birdwatcher's heaven, loads of Green Woodpeckers can be heard regularly and there are also Peregrines nesting in the cliffs nearby.
The toilets and showers were kept clean and there was a code to enter the building.
The hardstanding pitches were flat and we had our own mains water supply as the site was pretty quiet.
There is an information centre there that tells you the history of the place and its also geared for the kids to watch with nature. They can monitor birds they've seen and there's also a bird feeding station outside the one window.
The cafeteria had lovely and reasonably priced food.
There's a fantastic play area park for the young kids and an assault course for the older ones.
Lastly the staff were extremely helpful and friendly.

Just returned from a 5 night stay at this site, overall the site was nice, but with a few downsides.
Upon booking this site, we were at no point told about building works being carried out, close to the pitches- builders started at 7am, so were very disappointed about the early start every day (including Saturdays).
The shower block was over the road from the tent pitches, only 3 showers and toilets, which although for our week was fine as only a few people there, but if busier would be a problem. Showers very hot, to hot for the children. Door to shower block on keypad entry and heavy door, so children can't use it on their own. Only 2 washing up areas- maybe not enough for the site.
Site used a lot for DoE, so can get very loud at night. Gates locked at 9pm and opened at 6am, so have to call a night porter to unlock gates in between these times- a bit of a problem, if you don't take mobiles with you!
Play parks opened for everyone to use, so never fully felt tent and belongings were safe when unattended.
Great site for people who love walking and very dog friendly. Surrounding location was stunning.
One slide at play park has a 2ft drop at the end and on one occasion visiting the park in the space of 1/2 hour, 6 children ended up in tears from hurting themselves flying off the end of it- mine included- luckily local hospital about 3 miles away.
Wouldn't return to this site, it served it purpose for the week! We had electric hook up, but our terminal wasn't working, so had to use the pitch next to us, and the light on the terminal wasn't working, so became a problem at night if we needed to see anything!
Didn't really feel as if this was a campsite location, seemed more of a country park for walkers, dog walkers and school trips, and the campers seemed more of an after thought.
