This campsite is a real gem on the Welsh coastline! We loved, loved, loved it!
We arrived, harassed and tired after a 5. 5 hour cross-country drive. Bryn (the site owner) offered to take over and drove our caravan to our pitch and sited it for us. Amazing service!
The site is well-maintained and the team work very hard to keep everywhere clean and tidy. The facilities block was spotless with two huge family showers and plenty of single showers as well. A couple of modesty cubicles, with washbasins, would have been good, but that is a minor point. And I don't really understand why the block closes at night when access is controlled through a (monitored) key fob.
The site is right on the beach and the kids had a brilliant time rockpooling and building sandcastles and waiting for the tide to wash them away. And the sea is shallow and great for children to paddle and swim in. Hours and hours of free fun!
The site shop is well-stocked and not over-priced. The nearest supermarket we found was a Co-op in Barmouth, which was fine. Larger supermarkets are further afield. I did see an ASDA delivery van doing the rounds in the area too.
We didn't eat at Henry's - we were rather put off by the staff sitting out front and smoking! Sorry - but personally that really is an issue for me and detracted from the overall ambience and ethos of the rest of the site.
The site is a good base for exploring the local area. We had some great days out, combined with great days doing nothing!
We are definitely planning to come back here and have another lovely holiday! It's a real get-away-from-it-all place! Lovely!

1st visit to site but regular to the Barmouth area.
Arrival - Firstly, you enter the grounds via an excellently maintained drive way & site is well signed with plenty of passing points. The site state you cannot arrive until 12pm and you need to depart by 11. 30am which does help.
Reception were very friendly from the moment you book including arrival and throughout stay.
Pitch - Hardstanding for caravan & awning and at least 1 car with plenty of grass area to sit out on etc. Condition of touring field is very well maintained. Every pitch is fully serviced including aerial point.
Site - Toilet facilities are entered via key fob and were immaculate, their is direct entrance to the beach, pool on site with free admission with booking facility, site also has washing up area, toilet waste point and launderette. We used the shop and was always well stocked. Very friendly staff.
Entertainment - The pub next to reception (Henrys) offers food and also has a canopied outdoor section to sit when the weather is good. There is also an arcade and take away with a variety of food.
To conclude the condition of the site is a credit to the owners and despite the site being full at the start of the 6 weeks school break it never seemed busy due to the peaceful nature of the touring fields. We had a problem out of hours with one of the toilets and the warden came and sorted this straight away - we have visited other sites whereby you don't even have a contact number out of hours.
Would we re visit - already booked October half term.

Our first visit to this site.
We received a warm welcome at reception, and we asked if we could have a second door key fob, this was no problem and I paid another £20 deposit for it.
As others have said the toilet/shower block is spotless with music playing in the background, I've still not worked out why it closes so early at 9pm though. As we were on the top field near to the reception and shop, a second older toilet block is located near to the shop that is open 24hrs so this was a useful facility (suspect its not 'officially' for the tourers to use but the key fob works and it's clean and tidy.
The laundrette facility can become busy with 3 washers £3 and 5 dryers £1. 50 but the modern machines have a display showing time left so it's not all guess work.
The pool is very nice with three 1 hour sessions for tourers, 25 people limit so book early!
Orange is ok for phone calls but very slow for data. O2/Tesco/GiffGaff is useless with just 1 bar of signal strength if you are lucky.
We signed up for 1 week of site wifi at a total cost of £30 but once you pay you find out its not unlimited but 3gb for the week, this is no good if you planned to stream video but is more than enough for general Internet usage. The problem we had was the low signal strength connection 'islawrffordd' was the fastest with about 2mb download and 0. 4mb upload, however in the touring field you are more likely to connect to the stronger 'islawrffordd2' connection and while it is a good wifi signal the Internet connection is almost unusable with a less than 1mb download and an upload of 0. 0mb! So requesting web pages is impossible sometimes. From our experience you can only really use 'islawrffordd' to get on line. And it's one device at a time, if one logs in it kicks the other family member off.
The only problems we have had is with other guests. The site rules are not mentioned or issued with any information on arrival and certainly not enforced by the wardens on several occasions we have seen ball games being played near cars and caravans and we have found out our neighbours (3 adults, 3 kids and 2 dogs) like to stay up outside the caravan until 1am on several occasions during the week while others respect the no noise after 11pm rule and try to get to sleep.
We were considering siting the caravan for sept/oct but have decided not to as it will be no fun if we get the caravan dinged with a ball or can't get to sleep at night.
I hate stupid rules, but ones that protect property and allow everyone a good nights rest should be enforced.
Will we visit again? Yes definitely will!

The facilities at this site are second to none. The shower/toilet block is modern, clean and warm. The site is primarily laid out for statics and seasonal pitches, with much attention having being given to these areas. The long expanse of sandy, gently sloping beach is accessed via a concrete slipway.
There are a few marked tent pitches with EHU around the perimeter road. The narrow strip of land between the site and the sea embankment can also accommodate around ten or so tents, but I suspect this number would be exceeded in busy periods. We pitched close to the embankment to take advantage of the flatter ground but be aware, the greenery on the other side of the rabbit fence is home to some pretty nasty biting insects. There is also a malodorous smell from the grass clippings that are tipped on the embankment.
A good site but if you don't have children and you want peace and quiet - then probably best look elsewhere.

This was my wifes first ever camping experience. I booked at Islawrfford on the recommendation of a friend, as my wife is disabled and my friend had been impressed by the facilities.
I was truly impressed by the customer service, due to the impending weather (high winds and rain), the site rang us to ask if we wanted to change dates.
Being a hardened camper, I decided to go anyway. We received a warm welcome when we arrived and offers of assistance due to the wind.
We had booked one of the serviced camping pitches and my only criticism is that the pitches were really lumpy due to rabbit holes. However, the site is in a beautiful location, close to the beach and some lovely walks.
The facilities on site were very good. The shower and toilet block were impressive, the best I've ever used and also the fob entry system which prevents a lot of misuse. There was always plenty of hot water and the shower cubicles were huge compared to some I've used.
However, I'd have liked the main toilet block to remain open till at least 2200hrs, as I do like a shower before bedtime, and the 'night' toilet is just one loo, so not a lot for a large site.
The launderette facilities were good and we got a good time for our £1. 50 with the tumble dryers. I liked the barrier entry system (which appears the norm now), although I thought 2 fobs may have been allowed, so I could have gone out shopping and leaving another fob so my wife could use the facilities.
The bar on site was a bit of a let down. The prices being a bit high, and the staff seemed to enjoy mucking about while serving not giving a very good impression. We didn't try the food in the bar, so cannot comment, but the takeaway next door was excellent.
Overall, a very impressive site, just losing a mark with little niggles, although we've booked again for next month, so the wife was impressed.

We have just returned from 9 nights camping on this site. This is a family run site, and everyone from the owners to the bar staff were really friendly and helpful. Its a great site for families, indoor pool, amusements, takeaway, bar, and children's park. The toilets were very clean despite it being fully booked over Jubilee.
The location is good right next to beach so on good days we tended to make the most of the site but there are lots of places to drive out to day trips. Barmouth can get very busy for parking but trains stop just at the top of the road if you wanted to leave the car on site.
A nice pub is the Al-Y-Brin? come out of site turn left on to main road, over bridge and about 5 mins drive on hill on the right. Its a hotle and lets non residents in for food. Good choice and good value.
The nearest pub, is ok for a drink, nice beer garden and terrace next to water but food, mainly out of freezer. Has a play area at back that our toddler liked I was a little weary as some of the equipment seemed a little worn out in places.
