A medium sized, adult only site, very close to the town of Cheddar and Cheddar Gorge. The entrance is bedecked with hanging baskets and the site is attractively laid out with a mixture of grass and hard standing pitches, all level, with hook-up. There are four holiday homes, the rest of the site is devoted to tourers and tents. There is an additional field for tents. Some pitches are next to the river Yeo that runs alongside the site. A few ducks wander about. There is a small shop. The toilet block is modern and very clean, with very large shower cubicles, which probably accounts for the rather steep £19 per pitch in high season.
The site is next to but completely separate from the Cheddar Caravan Club site. A footpath runs between the two and it is recommended this be taken to reach the town, as the route by foot along the road is quite dangerous. We found the town unremarkable but the walk to the Gorge is very worthwhile. Look out for the wild goats. There is a fair choice of restaurants. Our Indian meal at the Cheddar Cottage was very good.

Top rate and we're going back. Close to shops, attraction just leave your car at the campsite an walk.
Very very pleased with the stay.
No charge for freezer an fridge which is good idea
Ever so friendly and helpful, we had some rain but didn't stop us enjoying our stay. There's plenty in cheddar to keep you busy, shops, caves, cheese factory an free sweet making demonstrations
You get used to the church chiming every 15 minutes or while we were there anyway. Superb

Could not fault this site, we enjoyed it that much we have already booked for next year.
The toilets / showers were cleaned on a daily basis the showers were very spacious.
The site is kept tidy
The site had a small shop which you could get a few essentials from although even if they did not have what you want the site is within walking distance to either a tesco express or budgens
You can easily walk into town or to see the caves as it only takes a few minutes.

We called in at Cheddar Bridge for two nights, to break up our return journey from Penzance, and couldn't believe our luck!
The sight was amazing, from the friendliness of our greeting to the quality of the facilities.
We were so glad that we had allowed two nights instead of the usual 'pit stop' and found Cheddar, (Not seen since with kids years ago) to be great.
A very easy walk from the site to supermarkets, pubs or straight to the centre of the gorge.
Have to recommend the Shanaz Indian restaurant, which can't be missed on the cliffs road (Would go back for that alone!).
Very peaceful site on banks of the river Yeo, interesting selection of resident ducks wandering around pitches made for a great stopover, which we will definitely do again en-route to Cornwall - maybe more than two nights too!

Not a lot to complain about here. In fact, I couldn't fault the site at all.
A very friendly welcome, choice of pitch and shown round the site personally. If you are dog-people, just outside the side gate runs the river Yeo (on it's way to Yeovil) and you can walk for miles. The toilets are top-rate, a small reception and shop, and every thing kept in a pristine condition.
Now for the town. 'Is within walking distance' - absolutely true. BUT! do not attempt to walk out of the front gate. The Bridge on the main road to town is very narrow with no footpath. Tractors, delivery vans, Pickfords, Eddie Stobart, etc. Are all trying to cross, and me with thoughts of jumping in the river at this point. However, leaving by the side gate you take the old railway line footpath and 'Hey Presto' you are outside Tesco's. Almost opposite is the Bath Arms pub - dogs welcome and standard pub grub served all day, and they also do a mediocre fryup breakfast from 8am. A few hundred yards from there is a very well-stocked Budgens supermarket. We tried the Chinese restaurant - very friendly but very monosodium glutamate.
Don't think that because you're in Cheddar you can buy cheese! The only way to do this is to visit the 'attraction'. I last visited this site 33 years ago when it was just a field owned by a farmer called Mr Durston and there were two grocers in the town, both of which sold excellent Cheddar cheese. All gone, sad to say.
Don't be put off - this is a superb campsite and I would thoroughly recommend it.
Just to finish, here's the secret tip. On our last day, I was admiring the church when, lo and behold, a succession of people carrying shopping bags were walking through the grave-yard. I followed the well-worn path, and on investigation I found a little gap in the wall right by the chemical emptying point and someone has thoughtfully put a little pair of steps there to aid your entry or exit from the site, and thus cutting off the treacherous bridge-crossing to town.

This is a really good site. We were camped in the front field for our nine nights, amongst the caravans, trailer tents and mobile homes - and there was another filed at the back which was mainly used by tenters.
Great location - just outside the main streets of Cheddar, so handy for the shops (2 supermarkets, hardware store, pub) and the road running up to the Gorge (lots of restaurants, takeaways and tourist type shops - and obviously the Gorge itself). All within walking distance. There is also a small shop on the site.
Handy for trips out. We went to Bristol, Bath, Weston Super Mare, Wells, Glastonbury, Street, Shepton Mallet. In addition to this, there are plenty of pretty little villages and market towns nearby.
Tracey and Dave who run the site are really friendly and helpful. Facilities were good, clean and well maintained.
