Been going to this site for years and still love it. Thought I'd give an up to date review, although it is very much like my other one.
Friendly owners, great views, clean toilet facilities, brilliant walks direct from site (dog friendly - no sheep or cattle), dog friendly pub in the village. Stunning location. A bit of road noise but not so much it bothered me and quiet during the night.
To comment on earlier review. I have never, in all the years of visiting this site found groups of young people to hang around the shop (or anywhere else on site for that matter), and if there were they obviously weren't causing a disturbance. Like any site there may be the odd rowdy group, perhaps previous reviewer was unlucky that this happened when they were there. It is not the norm here.
Toilet facilities too far from tents? - there are two toilet blocks. An old one and a new block, both kept clean. The new block is in the middle of site.
Potholes? Yes, there are, unfortunately. The site owners have been battling these for years. The site has a tendency to flood in winter causing the road damage. I suppose we are used to it, but driving slowly makes them negotiable.
Untidy? There is no litter or rubbish. Bins are emptied every day. This is not a regimented site however so pitches are not in straight rows. Maybe driving towards the entrance it could be prettier but any old vehicles are actually behind the site but visible upon approach.
To summarise, this site is in a marvellous location for walking, views and sightseeing. One of our favourites.

Has the potential to be a lovely site. First impressions are not good. The first sight is of cars being dismantled and 'mechanics' in oily overalls. Thought we'd entered a garage forecourt.
The 'welcome' at the reception/shop was somewhat sharp. Although I know that the owners cannot control the weather, they could maintain the site road to make it easier to negotiate in really wet weather. The potholes are deep and wide - not nice when it is very wet and very dark (little or no lighting on site).
The facilities are a long walk from the touring pitches by the river. There are lights on the site but they are not switched on making it a treacherous walk to the toilet block after dark. You will need a good torch and wellies.
It was noisy at night with crowds of youngsters hanging around the front of the shop shouting and being a general nuisance.
The toilets/shower block is untidy but reasonably clean. Showers cost 20p for two minutes, inadequate. The lights dim down before the first two minutes are done, unacceptable.
The small village is a short walk away. The Bistro and Inn is an excellent pub. It is dog-friendly and the food looks very good. The locals are very friendly.
The overall appearance of this site really lets it down. It is very scruffy and not inviting. Shame really because it is in a good location, by the river and has stunning views.

We stayed on this site for 3 nights in a tent. The site is in a stunning location. We take our dog camping and he had much fun on the long walk available through the gate at the bottom of the site. We were pitched away from the road that passes the site. The back of our tent on the banks of ra lovely river. The shop on site is fantastic - stocks everything! Showers/toilets - were constantly 100% spotlessly clean! 20p for a shower but I only ever used 1 x 20p for a shower and I have long hair! The lights in the shower block do not go off on a timer they slightly dim. Still ample light to get ready. The dishwashing area was immaculate also. The pitch we had was very level and we encountered no problems with tent pegs. The staff are so nice and helpful! I had forgot my basting brush for the bbq. I asked in the shop if they sold them but they had ran out - the shop assistant actually went into her own caravan and leant me her own one! So nice! We never experienced any disturbance from the road at the top of the site. There's lots to do around the area. We chose to have a few trips into Callander, which is just a 5min drive from the site. Beautiful village and good places to eat. We ate at the Chinese Restuarant one night and it was 1st class. We can highly recommend the Quality Butcher also. We also went on a boat trip up Loch Katrine which is approx 20mins drive - stunning scenery yet again! All in all this site was perfect! Couldn't fault it! We had electric whilst we camped here and had no problems with supply. Highly recommend this site! The shop even orders in your daily paper and it's there for you in the morning!

Spent four nights camping at Immervoulin. The site is situated in a beautiful river side spot just a short walk from Loch Lubnaig.
However, we thought it was a real shame that a site in such lovely surroundings was so untidy with old tyres, old vehicles and even old boats left lying around. The site and its entrance give the impression that it needs a little TLC.
The toilet/shower blocks were, however, kept spotless although the number of 20p coins required to wash your hair whilst in the shower would make a family stay rather expensive!
The lights in the shower block are also on timers and more than once I found myself in darkness until somebody else entered the building!
A makeover and revision of the shower charges we feel is definitely a must.

We stayed two nights at this site, the owners were lovely, very friendly and happy to give advice on local walks, towns and any other information they could. The majority of the site is for caravans, however the tent areas are lovely, close to the toilet block and many pitches available along the river bank. The site is right beside the A84, which is a busy road, even at night, so there was quite a bit of traffic noise. The town of Callander is about 15 minutes drive away, or a 9 mile walk, and you are also close to Aberfoyle and Killin.
The facilities are good, however we felt that 20p for 2 minutes of hot water in the shower was a little excessive, especially as this is not the cheapest of sites to stay at. You also had to pay for the hairdryer, so getting washed was a bit expensive in my opinion. However, the block was consistently spotless and plenty of cubicles and showers. There is also a laundry which I didn't use, and the dish washing area even has a low down sink for disable people or children to use.
There is an excellent dog exercise walk at the bottom of the site, and overall a very dog friendly place.

Our first impression, which sadly influences how you feel about somewhere, is that the site was untidy. There wasn't (at least we didn't see) a site name board as you come out of Strathyre heading towards Callander. Once you get beyond the gas store, the lawnmowers etc outside the office/shop etc, this is actually a nice site with a lovely walk along to the loch at one end. Only used the old toilet block briefly so can't comment on the new facilities. The shop is well stocked. There is a lot of road noise, something that can't be avoided because of the terrain, sites tend to be next to the roads. If you are looking for a peaceful and tranquil place to spend a week, be aware of the road noise. We used the site as a one night stopover on our travels, perfectly adequate for doing that.
