My Wife and I stayed here again in May for the second time and had a marvellous five days. The views are so beautiful that you can be entertained for hours just looking at the changing landscape. The site is very small so its quiet and peaceful, they only take a small number of people so the shower and two loos serve the campers well. The facilities are spotless and well maintained with nice flower arrangements, also there is plenty of hot water. The hens that strut freely produce beautiful eggs and it is also possible to buy various cuts of meat from the farm. The owners are most welcoming and helpful, they have been pleased to show us around their meadows and to teach us the names of the many wild flowers. They were also able to tell us about some local walks. The site is set in a lovely area with good walks unspoilt villages and plenty to do.

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of our grand tour of Northern England. Nice site, very quiet. A fair step out of town - you can walk to Middleton but it is an indistinct path over fields and steep in places - only for the fit!
We were the only campers and had the one hardstanding pitch - which was great as there had been a lot of rain and the field looked muddy. Facilities were fine, nice and clean. Only 1 shower and 2 toilets, one in the shower room so guess queues might be long if the site is full. As I said though, we were the only campers on site so no problem! No light on the toilet block or anywhere on the site so you will need a torch for nighttime loo trips. This was surprisingly the most expensive site we stayed on all holiday, more expensive even than a C&CC Club site in the Lake District.

We stayed here for 1 night as our very first trip to test our new tent out. It's a very small and peaceful site but perfect for us and the two kids, who were just excited to be on their first camping trip. The kids seemed entertained enough just by watching the animals around the place so it didn't matter that there wasn't a playground for them. There was only one other tent in when we were there so it was very peaceful and we didn't have to worry about the kids disturbing people. The toilet facilities were nice and clean and there was always hot water.
The owners were friendly and welcoming then left us to get on with our break, although we knew they were nearby if we needed anything.
The location was lovely with great views over the hills of Teesdale, although you would really have to have a car to get there I think. We went into Middleton to eat which is only a few minutes drive and there is plenty of choice there. There's lots to do in the area too so hopefully we will be able to visit again in the future.

I saw this campsite In The Rough Guide to Camping in Britain and I chose it based solely on the fact that I could have a dog with me and it was somewhere I had never been.
Was I in for a pleasant surprise! This site was full of charm and the proprietors were so accommodating! The site is quiet and small and you can't help but be charmed by the curious lambs and the chickens wandering around as you look out over the green rolling hills. Richard and Stephanie are helpful and lovely without being 'in your face' at all. Richard obliged us when we asked to bottle feed the lambs as well.
Also, I've never seen nicer bathrooms in a campsite ever.
We really enjoyed our trip and the area surrounding the campsite is all green grass and grey dry stone walls with rivers and waterfalls. What is not to like? Durham was a great town 40mins away to spend a rainy afternoon and I recommend a visit to the Flat White cafe and Durham Cathedral (free admission!).
We loved our visit and recommend this place to anyone.

We found this to be a charming, peaceful and very friendly site. The farm is situated on a hill just above the village, an easy, short drive away for all one's holiday needs. Surrounding countryside is ideal for walking and cycling, if you don't mind a few hills. The River Tees is beautiful, as are the surrounding moorlands and reservoirs. Sections of the Pennine Way are on your doorstep, again being very easy to access. High Force waterfall is a 'must visit'.
Proprietors Richard and Stephanie were very friendly and obliging, offering to store our bikes in a barn and always willing to break off from farm chores to chat and help. They take obvious pride in their small site, maintaining the facilities with efficiency and sensitivity, fresh flowers and nice soaps being in the shower and toilets, for example. Their own farm produce is on sale, but not forced upon you, and they are more than happy to show you the small farm and its horses, sheep and cattle.
We thoroughly recommend this site if you are looking for a private, peaceful stay in the heart of upland countryside, but with close access to the dale and its attractive villages.

After looking a whole afternoon in the surroundings for a campsite near the Pennine Way we finally found this quiet little campsite with beautiful view. We stayed more than a week at 'Richards' place. The space gets rather narrow when it is full but the site is well maintained so it causes no problems. It is a place, you get attached to. That, at least is our experience.
