We stayed here over the May Bank Holiday and we were right down the bottom of the site where the small stream meets the main river. There was a small group of us and the owners are quite happy to take private family groups. The owners are very friendly and relaxed. The pitches down the far end of the site are a fantastic spot and you can barely take your eyes of the view across the valley to the mountains opposite. We were fortunate enough to visit when there weren't many other campers so the site was quite quiet.
The facilities were very clean and tidy although they are a bit of a walk if you are down the far end of the site. But if you like it quiet, then it's worth going down the far end of the site and you'll just have to walk to the facilities. The small steam train from the site to Bala is very pleasant and relaxing. There is also a great walk up the mountains nearby.
The views from there over Bala lake are amazing. We booked to go to the Eagles Inn pub which is a 15 minute walk up the road and worth a visit. There are no playground facilities but to be honest, the kids didn't miss them. However, what was disappointing was the amount of restrictions the Snowdonia authorities appear to have imposed on this campsite. Camping is about freedom, relaxation and switching off, and campsites nor campers should be ruled by local authority bureaucracy. The Snowdonian authorities need to reconsider their restrictions. That said, overall, a great campsite if you want to switch off from it all.

This was our first holiday in our Mazda Bongo Campervan. Really relaxing site with clean facilities, lovely friendly owners.
Situated next to stream with Railway on other side which runs straight into Bala town around outskirts of Bala lake. Pub with in walking distance which serves good pub food.
Thoroughly enjoyed by all including our dog Max.
Well worth a visit for a peaceful break.

A decent site with hardstandings near to the river
With a nice walk to the river where we saw a kingfisher, however when we there the other fields were closed off, nice views of the mountains and the steam railway, toilet facilities were very clean and nice hot water, however I think the price is a bit steep for how big the site is, just big enough for 5 units, we like it quiet and it was that. Good for a few days but not 8 days like we were there, also the bins were overflowing

Spent 6 nights here. Was greeted when we arrived by the owners daughter, who was very friendly. Was able to choose our own pitch. Pitched on the grass area just behind the river pitches. Nice level pitches.
Toilet block consisted of 2 showers and 2 wc, all hot water included in price, only had to queue for a shower behind my own children. They were clean and tidy. Plenty of toilet roll.
There is the use of a freezer and there is a laundry room, although didn't use the latter. Campsite was not busy, a few coming and going.
Had a problem with midges for 1 night, but we had been out for the day and it was quite late when we were getting our campfire going. A really nice, level site. We paid £150 for 2 adults, 3 children, large tent which I thought was reasonable.

We stayed here for two nights 3rd 4th August, we arrived at the site about 13:30 and were met by Gareth the owner, we were booked in and away we went to get settled, we requested a pitch by the fascilities block as one of our number was frail.
The toilet/shower block was very clean and the shower/wet rooms were excellent. The groundsman was very helpful in assisting us with are awning, Thank You! and we soon got it sorted out,
The site overall was very well kept clean and tidy a stroll down the river bank after lunch was very pleasant and the proximity of Bala light railway in brilliant,
Just at the entrance, the Local pub sell essentials and the garage on the main road is expensive but convenient,
Gas is available at the farm supplies yard just by the garage and the prices are very reasonable.
Bala is a 15 min drive away and is a beautiful village and of course the lake is stunning.
All in all, we had a very good weekend, a very good site with lots to do both there and close by,
Highly recommended to anybody looking for a nice easy going break

Just returned from this site and felt the need to add a review. As everyone else has said its a beautiful site and the owners are very friendly.
Site.
The site has a small section near the entrance which is used for electric hookups. The most beautiful part of the site is lower down where you can pitch alongside the river and have a campfire at night using the fire pits provided. If you are on the hook up section then a fire is not permitted.
The site is very quiet and well run, there was no litter to be seen and the grass was mowed so looked tidy. Some of the pitches are not quite level but its a slight gradient which wasn't a problem for us.
When you enter the site there are a few pitches in the dip on the left which offers a sheltered option, then you carry on through a gate and pass the electric hookups on your right, then it opens up into a large field where you can camp wherever you like, the lane then narrows by the river where you can camp alongside it.
We used hookup on our visit, but I was still nice when the owner gave us a choice of 4 pitches to choose from.
Facilities
The toilets and shower block is near the entrance to the site, so if you are at the far end of the site it is a fair walk for a shower, a lot of people drove to the showers when we were there.
There are a few portaloos at the bottom of the site, but as I didn't use them I cant comment.
The main toilet block was spotlessly clean at all times, and had a notice saying if they were not as clean as you expected to let them know and they would clean them again. Cant get any fairer than that.
Inside the gents toilets there were 2 urinals, 2 toilets and 2 showers, the showers were hot and free, the ladies again had 2 showers 3 toilets and the disabled toilets had a shower also.
There was a utility room with washing machine and dryer, and 3 kitchen sinks for washing up.
The Area
The site is about 10 minutes drive from Bala itself, where you have the lake for water sports, and a selection of shops and bars.
The nearest supermarket is the co-op which is in Bala.
The nearest pub is a 10-15 min walk from the site, we didn't use it so cant comment.
Just up the road from the site is a walk which takes you up the aran range 0f 3 beautiful mountains, the view from which I hear is awesome.
Barmouth is a 40 minute drive if you want a day at the beach.
Criticism
The only fault I can find is to do with the showers, having only 2 is not many for the number of people who use the site, in the morning it did get busy so a wait may happen
Overall a fantastic site, you wont be disappointed if you visit.
