This has been the best time in a static in a long time, 4 nights midweek the caravan was really clean, the entertainment staff where a bit well not quite bigger park, but dam if they didn't give it 110% even though their where maybe 50 people in the club, the drinks are not to over priced (on average 3 quid cheaper than haven sites).
The food court well the mixed grill was mighty fine we ate their 3 nights and not one complaint the food is really good and well prepared.
I must say the dark skies car parks spotted about Galloway Forrest are worth that late night trip.
Dalbeattie is 12 miles away (cheap fuel than most areas) and some small shops and cash machine (site charges 1. 75 for use of cash machine) plus the love heart stone is here.
Dumfries is 15 miles away with better shops.
But the trip to dalbeattie is well worth the drive. Be careful of a night I've never had to brake and dodge so many animals.
Well worth the trip and we have already booked for next may.
We didn't use the pool but it seemed pretty big with a slide for the kids.
Laggan Outdoor is a must for the more adrenaline type we did the longest uk zip wire (15 quid 10 quid if you want a repeat) and dam if I didn't go back up a second time. I could go on but the area is studded with things for everyone to go and see or do.

Friendly staff who were willing to change our pitch to one closer to play park to accommodate the kids in our party. Mark the warden was a nice chap and very helpful. Pitches all seemed to be concrete base with chipped awning area and fully serviced with water drainage and EHU.
No real scenic views though from this site although its only a two minute walk to the beach. Didn't use the pool on this occasion. Evening entertainment a tad cheesy but its the sort of thing you expect from Parkdean.
On site costcutter shop certainly doesn't cut costs. Its pricey.
Toilets were unusual in that each cubicle had a shower, wash basin and toilet. They are modern enough but its a constant job for the warden to keep them clean given the amount of child traffic that goes through them.
It wasn't a bad site but having done it once it wouldn't make me want to return.
Would try somewhere different if I was to return to Solway Firth area.

Unit=folding camper
We stayed over the jubilee weekend so the site was at its capacity.
The friendly warden was always on hand for any concerns.
The pitch sizes weren't very big - we were put on a tent pitch and our camper is 19ft long and I'm just glad we didn't have the awning on as well or we'd have been in trouble!
The location of this site is quite remote and we didn't find so much to do in the inclement weather but there are a couple of nice beaches up the road. The one off the site is a bit estuarine so the sand is always a bit soggy - not muddy exactly but the sand is soggy like mud if that makes sense. It isn't a lovely beach where you'll want to go paddling (sea always way out) or sitting about on. It was handy as somewhere to stroll and the rocky headland where the lighthouse was was ok for exploring. You do get good views off the beach across to England.
Up the road about 20 minutes drive was a lovely little beach with very cheap parking and a nice little beach shop. However we didn't find much to do in the area in the inclement weather as it is quite a remote location! You have to be prepared to drive around a bit to find things to do. We have a 4 year old. Prior to him, we would have been happy just to have the fresh remote air and relax.
The toilet and shower facilities were disappointing. I liked the cubicles for the showers but if you need the loo, and folk are showering you've had it as the loos are in with the showers and a sink. Luckily we have a toilet in the camper. The showers are the coldest I've ever known.
By 9am they were barely warm. We were told when I asked that you have to get up early if you want a warm one as the site is at capacity but I feel they should have facilities that cope with demand as other sites do and Parkdean are a big enough company to invest in decent facilities and ensure plentiful hot water.
They were tired in decor and the hard working warden could not keep up with the cleaning. He is overworked by the company. He isn't responsible for the mess left by other patrons, but if they employed more staff then they could keep up with cleaning. One day he had so many people to check in, he didn't have time to clean the facilities, which on a wet day was disastrous! I'm marking facilities right down due to these issues.
The on site shop was adequate for basic supplies but you are quite a long way from Dumfries for bigger shops so go prepared.
Laundry facilities were fine, if expensive and dishwashing was ok.
We didn't use clubhouse facilities or food facilities so cannot comment, nor the swimming pool
My 4 year old enjoyed the playground.
There was excessive noise late at night from people returning from the club house at around 11. 30pm then staying up until 3am shouting and giggling raucously the weekend we went.
We made a decision perhaps this kind of site wasn't for us - I've stayed in statics on a number of Parkdean sites before (though not this one) and not had this problem so much even though they do have these clubhouses. We filled in our customer service response form on leaving the site and raised our concerns about the holiday, but we have heard nothing.
I would have thought a letter in reply to our concerns would have been polite and will probably follow this up as I don't feel we have been given good customer service by parkdean, though in other respects - eg booking and dealing with the on site warden was a good experience - so I am marking customer service down a bit for this.
I'm marking child friendliness down as a site that does nothing about late night raucous behaviour is not child friendly.
We won't be returning to this site and will approach Parkdean with caution in the future, despite a happy previous allegiance with them in the past as a static caravan user.

Just spent the weekend at this campsite. When you book online the website does not state that each of the standard pitches has electric hook up. We paid £17 per night and had a dog. We thought this was a good rate for a largish tent, hook up and dog. The price also includes entry into the swimming pool and
The entertainment.
The weather was so nice we sat out with the other campers so we never ventured to the bar or entertainment.
There is a costcutter shop on site which sells most things except for gas refill bottles or portable cookers. The chip shop was good although a little pricey. There is a local shop and also chip shop just yards outside the campsite on the way to the beach which is a 10 minute stroll.
If you enter the beach via the main road it is much more pebbles than if you enter via the campsite it is much sandier but nothing great.
The site can get windy at times so take good strong pegs.
The toilet blocks are kept spotless by the warden and there are 2 sections of 3 ensuite toilets and 1 loo in each. Showers were nice and hot. There is also a free hairdryer attached for use in each section.
The staff at reception were friendly and in particular the warden was friendly, cheery, very helpful and made sure we all enjoyed our stay.
We will definitely return. Well done all at Parkdean for making our weekend so great.

Pitches excellent with plenty of room and the touring warden was always on hand.
We had some rain in the morning but the grass seemed strangely dry thanks to the excellent drainage,
entertainment sorted our 4 yr old. food was good on site, the Paul Jones Hotel just along the road always serves amazing food so worth a visit.
They have also built a new play park next to the camping area, so not far for the little ones to go to have some fun.
We had the bonus of really good weather. We will be returning to this site again.

This was our first time in a tourer - check in took two minutes, followed instructions to our pitch and were met by the serviceman who was brilliant - he even helped with the reversing.
Pitch was excellent. Concrete pitch for caravan, pebbled area for awning and grassy area for car, Electric and water all there. Electric went off at one point but was fixed within 15 mins.
Amenities were fine, better than experienced before, decent food at the on site restaurant, decent beer at the bar and the entertainment was great for the kids. Although we only stayed till 9pm. Washing up facilities and shower blocks cleaned twice per day and happy to use these. On site shop reasonably priced for essentials, slightly more for souvenirs.
Good swimming pool system - only allowed to stay for 1hr at time which is enough for kids and grown ups and you can go back later - this means it isn't too crowded for the little ones and the big ones get a turn on the slide!
Not sure about security patrols but a grievance about excessive noise from a neighbour was swiftly resolved after a complaint to reception!
Loads to see and do within a 25 mile radius - we took a 5 and 12 year old who were perfectly happy with the holiday.
All in all a good site that we would be happy to revisit :)
