Fantastic camp site. We were greeted with a menu of hot food and hot showers. With breakfast baps available in the morning who could ask for more. The staff were really friendly and helpful. Like most of the Camping and Caravanning Club sites it was a very well managed site; however Crowden does it with a relaxed style that I hadn't experienced at their other sites. Definitely would return.

This site has had new managers this year after last years abissmal episode with a manager who thought

She was too good for the site. Looking forward the new mamnager has made a fantastic improvement. I go to this site every other week and can say the walks are tremendous being on the Pennine Way. The toilets are old but very clean, and may be due for upgrading. The shops will need transport to get to and various good eating pubs will also. Just got back but looking forward to returning week after next.

I would like to add there is a well stocked shop on site as well as a very good food menue, pizza's, burgers, and curries are popular as well as all day breakfasts all at good prices.

You will not get a warmer welcome at any other site.

Well done to Steve, Paula, and Richard.

This is a lovely little club site that has recently come under new management. They've put a lot of effort into renovating the site and you can really tell.

The toilets and showers are immaculate and the shop is well stocked. It's a great place to stop for Pennine Wayfarers (they really look after walkers and backpackers here) and also a perfect base for exploring the Peak District National Park.

I'll definitely go back the next time I'm in the area!

What a fabulous site!

The grounds and facilities are beautifully presented and maintained. The site staff are friendly, relaxed and meticulous.

The site is level, the pitches and hard standings are generous size.

Pizzas that were cooked on site, were good, made & delivered by Steve-the warden himself.

We walked to Tintwhistle for a pint, by the side of the reservoirs. It was an easy but, rather lengthy walk fand took us around an hour and a quarter. The Bulls Head is a friendly pub, but not really worthy of the hike. Didn't seem geared up for food, but may be wrong. It welcomes dogs and is very relaxed. We got a taxi back to the site, which cost 10 including the dogs.

The walking is simply fantastic from this site, straight onto the Pennine Way within yards.

Spring sunshine made our stay all the better.

Paid 19:10 for motorhome, 2 adults ( club members), 2 dogs and electricity.

We stayed here whilst doing the pennine way backpacking, we arrived late at night after walking for 12 hours solid from Blackstone Edge and the reception was closed and it was a little late to ring the bell so we put our tents up and met the owner in the morning. We were due to do the last day of the walk that day to Edale but the owner of the site seen I had a bit of a limp from banging my knee the day before on a rock. He strongly advised we didn't do it and on reflection he was absolutely spot on!

We took his advice and headed to Hadfield for a pint (Royston Vasey) then got train back to Manchester Piccadilly and had another pint then left walking stick in the pub!.

The site is very peaceful mainly motor homes and caravans with the odd tent.

Very clean toilets and washing up facilities and I would recommend to anyone doing the pennine way that like a bit of flat grass and don't want to wild camp on the boggy moors!

10/10 from Andy and Damo

A site with amazing views of the countryside. Very convenient for the Pennine Way. We also did a lovely walk around the reservoir over the road as well. Wardens were very friendly and helpful and were very efficient in dealing with our refund when they overcharged us! One of the two showers had just had a new floor so this was shut for a couple of days, something that I thought was quite bad given we were in the middle of August. Also the toilets were not to the standard we had expected of a club site - paying 25 per night. They were cold and were more similar to public toilets with no privacy cubicles for washing. The site is also very close to the main road which could be disruptive for people in tents. That said, we heard very little noise from the farm. Our daughter loved the wooded area and the site is open and quite spacious. We would probably return.
