Whichford is a very attractive village with a large village green which the Norman Knight faces. It is a first rate pub with interesting beers microbrewed on the premises. The food is very tasty and appropriate to a pub. The bar is obviously used by locals as a meeting place. Hunter wellingtons and braying voices are commendably absent; the car park is not full of Range Rovers. They seem to host quite a bit of live music (good) which was inaudible in the caravan (also good).
Ablutions are carried on in the pub toilets and, for showers, in two units set up close to the caravans. They were clean. The main issue is the small area allocated to caravans. Apart from a hard standing pitch at the end of the pub car park I estimate the caravan area to be no greater than 25 meters by 30 meters. This is OK if you just want to use the site as an accommodation base. But it might not be suitable if you like to sit outside your caravan during the day.
There are trees bordering two sides, the pub on the third and the car park on the fourth. There are no views. On the last night I was there, there were two camper vans, four motor caravans and my trailer caravan. It was all a bit crowded.

Just about enough room for 5/6 caravans or motorhomes, but the grass pitches were very sticky, our wheels span while trying to turn around so we ended up parking at right angles to the only other visitor who was on the one hardstanding pitch. Luckily we were`nt too close and they did`nt seem to mind.
Very pleasant people who run the pub, always willing to help out and give advice. They have a little pug called Winston who has a great personality and is very friendly. They also have 5 hens and two turkeys who roam free. The hens are ok, it is quite nice to watch them coming in and out of the roost, pecking away. The turkeys however are a little different. They are very inquisitive, spent a lot of time around our motorhome which wound our dog Scruffy up, but that was his problem. If you are lucky you can get quite close to them, but beware of the male, he is very possessive of his mate.
Facilities are ok for a CL though the outside showers were not working for some reason, (I`m sure this will be rectified very soon) so we used those in the toilet block which is open 24/7. There are no facilities for washing up, but that is a minor thing.
Food and beer is excellent, especially the real ale brewed on site, I recommend the Kiwi. They also have bands playing saturday nights and the occassional friday, well worth a listen, espeacially if you like blues music. There are no shops in the village, no bus service on saturday or sunday and the next village is about 2 miles away. There are plenty of walks through either Whichford woods or over country through gated fields.
All in all we did enjoy our stay but would be put off returning due to the lack of weekend buses which we would use to visit Chipping Norton or Shipston which is a great shame.

Just came back from the third stay at this fantastic CL,
Its quite a squeeze to get 5 units on this site but that didn't bother us, Its in a wonderful peaceful location tucked behind a little village pub, There is a village green across the road with a fantastic little play area for the kiddies and plenty of room if your little footballers want a kickabout!
The village is extremely quiet and literally has a pottery shop, the pub, church and some houses, No shop but Shipston is about 3 miles away.
There is a bus stop next to the village green which takes you into Stratford is you want to leave the car behind and the bus drivers do allow dogs on if you take your 4 legged friends with you. The bus comes once an hour.
In Shipston there is a small somerfield, small co-op and a handful of little shops, there is also a shop that sells local organic produce that is quite pricey but the food is lovely, parking there is free aswell.
Its about 10 miles away from Banbury and about 12 miles away from Stratford if your in need of some retail therapy,
The Norman Knight itself is a fairly small pub, but has quite a good range of food on the menu, cooked by the in house French chef that works there, not badly priced and the drinks are about average with what you would expect to pay. They will even deliver food over to your caravan if needed.
The pub owners leave the back door open all night for campers to use the toilets and there is a small shower in both the mens and ladies toilets, (showers had lots of power and very warm) the toilets always seemed to be kept very clean also.
We absolutely love this CL and is probably one of my favourites even though we live 40 minutes away its ideal for a weekend getaway, Its in an ideal place for exploring the Cotswolds, Warwickshire and Oxfordshire. Its also only about an hours drive away from Birmingham or the NEC if you are going to an Exhibition.
Only downside for us is its not open all year

Just had a very pleasant weekend break at the Norman Knight. Nice little pub thats opposite the village green. This has a very nice kds play area and is safe for the kids.
Shower and toilet open at all times and were quite adequate given the price!
The village is very pretty and quiet but there is no shop so get all you need in advance.
Handy for Banbury and Chipping Norton if you fancy a run out.
This is a very nice little Cl that we will visit again without doubt.

Only just enough room for 5 caravans in the pub garden, lovely location, and really peaceful site apart from the Cockrell and Church bells at about 8am every morning, it all added to the atmosphere though
The great thing for us was that you could safely leave our dog in her cage after a long walk and a few feet away you are in the pub being waited on which makes a change while camping.
Pub food is exellently cooked by the French Chef.
He even picked the apples off the trees amongst our caravans to make apple pie for the menu.
Prices are quite reasonable but you don't mind paying as the food was really top quality.
The facilities are very basic with only one loo and one shower but we never found it a problem.
The village is very friendly and you really get the sense of community spirit and we were made to feel really welcome.
There are plenty of walks around this really dog friendly village. The town of Shipston is 7 miles away which has everyting you should need.
Worth while making a note that the pub doesn't serve food Sunday evenings, Monday & Tuesday lunchtimes.
This was our first experience of a CL site and we were quite impresssed and intend to try a few more.
The people we were sharing the garden with have been using this CL for 20 years so they were able to show us the ropes which was very kind of them.

We spent 2 nights here, it was so quiet that slept in till 9.15. Great little site, dog friendly, good walks, but the best was the great atmosphere and superb beer. Will be going back. One drawback for us was no food or ale mon and tues lunchtime but hey dont let that put you off.
