What a fantastic camp site! The site is well maintained, clean and dog friendly. The shower/toilet blocks were the cleanest I've seen at a campsite. The other facilities are also fantastic. There's a fridge for everyone to use, plugs to charge up mobiles, laptops etc. They're in a small building with comfy chairs & a sofa in. It was really hot the first day we got there, far too hot to sit in the tent and not great outside the tent but we went to sit in the little room with our dog as it was lovely and cool. There are also two washing up points and two kettles permanently plugged in for general use. It was well lit and the owners were so helpful and polite that they made our stay really easy. We didn't pack enough mugs so they lent us one! There are pitches in the shade and pitches in the sun so you can take your choice. There is a little chef in walking distance plus bewl water is about a mile away which you get to by strolling through shaded pathways in between fields. In my opinion it was money very well spent (and they're cheap too!).

Our friends and us searched the net a few weeks ago for a campsite to spend bank holiday weekend at and this one seemed to come out the best value for money in a good location.

Booking was easy by email and a deposit cheque secured the pitches.

The site is easy to find (at least the sat nav took us pretty much to the front door). The location is quiet easy to get to any surrounding attractions. If I had one criticism it would be that the site is on a slope, not a very big one granted, but in a tent it makes it awkward to sleep comfortably. This I couldn't see mentioned on the website anywhere. Just a note saying the ground is 'part sloping' would have been good.

However, overall it was a great 3 nights, the facilities are good. The toilets and shower blocks really clean and well maintained. There could do with being a couple more washing up points as on occasions we did have to queue.

On the Sunday my daughter and her two friends we went with put on a little dance show that they thought of, organised and advertised themselves all by themselves. This proved to be quite a hit with most of the site coming to watch. The two owners were also there and gave the girls a voucher for a free nights stay if we go back again (which I think we will), which was a really nice gesture.

I will be recommending.

Went cycling in Bedgebury Forest which was absolutely excellent. Great tracks all laid out for every ability. Decided to stay at Cedar Gables as I had been there before and found it to be excellent value.

I was impressed to see that they had laid new drive ways, do these people never rest! As usual the toilets and showers were spotless. Another new addition is the fire pit which is for communal use. That was great fun and very safe, much better than having fires next to tents.

At Cedar Gables it is in a separate field so noise and sparks do not cause a problem. The 'no noise after 11pm' rule still applies which is good.

Next time I go to Bedgebury forest I want to have a go at 'Go Ape', looks like great fun. Did pop in to a site which is nearer to the Forest but it was very expensive and did not have the facilities that are available at Cedar Gables

My wife and I spent 9 very pleasant days at Cedar Gables, from where we launched out on trips to the coast, as these were half as far as from London. There were not many campers at first because we started on Monday, though we heard that the previous weekend had been busy.

The weekend we were there half a dozen or so extra campers joined us. It was a mixed weather time, though better than London had, but despite several prolonged downpours there was no flooding, due to the gentle slope of the pitches.

Although there is no shade as such, the site is surrounded on 3 sides with pleasant woodland. It is possible to walk to Bewl Water, a mile away down a path beside the campsite, though a bit muddy after the rains.

There are no shops nearby, just a Little Chef, and no shops on-site, the main large stores being in Hawkhurst, 5 miles away. The A21 is not far away, but the traffic noise is masked by the main buildings, and is soon forgotten.

The owners were particularly helpful, one of them visiting several times to make sure we were all right over the week. As for the facilities, I commented to the owners from the start how clean they kept the washing/toilet area.

Showers cost 50p a time which some people might find excessive. There are hook-ups in both of the two fields, a drinking water tap, a climbing apparatus for children, and an information room, from which we also borrowed books to read during our stay.

Altogether a place to recommend.

We pitched here for the lovely end-of-summer surprise sunny weekend, and it was smashing.

The site is on a gently sloping field, divided into 2 and surrounded by tall trees. This means that at the far end, it gets damp out of high sun, and we were advised to camp nearer the facilities (which I normally avoid, but this was good advice as someone ignoring it got their car stuck later on). The ground was quite damp due to autumn dew, and so any west-facing pitches got a little muddy first thing. I suspect in summer this isn't a problem.

The site allows BBQs, there are lots to borrow if you forget your own as well as locally-produced charcoal. We were the only ones sat up past 9pm seemingly, which brings me to the best part of the site. That it is quiet, really 'wholesome' while we were there, which was lovely. No groups, or rowdy families, just some frisbee players and book readers! They appear to actively discourage groups or noisy activity, so please don't book here for large get-togethers.

Facilities were also great - 2 showers in the Ladies, but no queue. It's 50p for a 5 min token - note that the time starts when you put the token in, not when you start the shower, so get undressed etc first.

Only negatives (not that they're at all serious) are that the road is noisy so you may need ear plugs if you camp at the bottom, and there are just 2 wash-up stations, only 1 with hot water (via a kettle). Very limited EHU numbers, though that suited us as it meant only 2 caravans, leaving the site for tents and vans.

Bewl water is a 20 minute walk and you will need proper shoes or trainers; there is a footpath alongside the camp & when it gets to a (minutely signed) fork after 10 minutes (200mtrs after the second gate) take the right hand fork, it's across a field rather than through heavy wood, and is also shorter.

All in all a really nice site, with friendly owners and a good feeling. Only 30 pitches, and not walkable to anything other than Bewl, which I suspect is why it wasn't overrun. We will definitely go back.

What a fantastic camp site. Neither of us are really regular campers but have been camping on a number of occasions and this was by far the best campsite.

Friendly efficient booking procedure and welcome. Nice soft ground. They seem to have really thought things out regarding facilities etc. The little lounge is simple but nice, the electric kettle a distinct advantage and, although we didn't use one, the BBQs to use at zero cost was a good touch. The toilets and showers were very clean and everything worked, including the hair dryers.

For those that want total silence, the road might be a little close, but we weren't disturbed by it at all.

The walk down to and round Bewl Water was beautiful and, as mentioned in the blurb on here, the noisy neighbours dogs are kept securely back by a hefty fence!

The Globe and Rainbow pub/restaurant up the road was really nice with good food and service.

There were lots of local things to visit and we opted for Hever Castle. If you do too, we'd recommend setting aside a whole day for it! It was great.

Summary: If you want a well equipped, clean and quite site, this is for you!
