Tom Tom took us straight to the site. The chap was very welcoming and informative. Toilets, showers etc all clean. We got a plot just by the river, a cracking view. We waited for the bus into York but it had changed its route because of roadworks so missed it. The chap was ace and took us into York in his car. What a grand gesture
The pub was a pleasure, good beer, good food and friendly landlord and staff.
All in all a re visit is on the cards.

What a great little caravan site. We were looking for somewhere to stay near York for the Ebor race meet and were recommended this site by some friends. When we arrived we were greeted by one of the owners and promptly shown to our pitch which was over the road next to the river.
The site is very well kept and toilet / showers very clean with plenty of hot water.
The Ship inn which is only 100 yards down the road served good food.
There is a bus stop right outside the gates to the site to take you into York or you can catch the river bus which moors next to the pub carpark.
Really enjoyed our stay the only complaint I would have is that we were over looked by static caravans behind us. There was one lady who seemed to spend all her time watching our every move either from her front window or peering over the hedge when sat on her sun chair.
Would return again but would ask for a different pitch.

We just had a visit to this site and were lucky to have sunny days in between the rain. Parked on the part of the site overlooking the riverbank gave a close up view of the Ouse in flood, very high but was subsiding thankfully. Although the wardens were on hand to advise if the river was going to get higher and said they would help clear that area if it became necessary, we would be moved to a higher part of the site.
We have been on this site several times over the years and have always liked the quiet nature of this location. A 4 mile walk to York, past the Racecourse, mainly along the river is very good, or a <10min drive, or park and ride from Macarthur Glen retail park if city tragic is not for you.
The site wardens keep the place very tidy but are not interfering in any way.
The site is split by a rather quiet road with the ship pub about 20mtrs away, very handy!Good food and a nice beer.
A small play area on the main part of the site will keep small children amused.
Some statics and seasonal tourers as well as touring and tents.
A steep riverbank with some small moored boats in front of the riverside tourers. A spot of fishing can be done to.
The York riverboats do stop here and Naburn further down the river on the other side, you need details of times for these, they were cancelled due to the very high river this time.
Site basic but well kept.
The newly refurbished toilet/shower blocks were a good improvement from the very old ones seen in the past. Constant hot water, good showers as well.
All in all a nice visit and will be back, hopefully not as much rain next time.

Arrived about 2030 hrs Friday 1st Jun. Very helpful showing to pitch and getting sited. Lovely level riverside pitch and spacious.
Toilet block immaculately clean, showers hot & adjustable without having to keep pressing button for water. The ship Inn on the doorstep with very friendly staff.
Riverboat to York about 50yds away but only runs weekends at 0930 and returns 1630 (£8. 50 return). Buses to york only every 2 hrs and not on sundays. Someone with enterprise could run a smallish motor boat to york regularly throughout the day.
No provisions on site so need to stock up. Would definitely return. A very pleasant, well laid out site close to york

Hi This was our first time visiting this park, where we stayed two nights and loved it. The campsite is quiet and peaceful with beautiful surroundings and pleasant walks. We were fortunate enough to have a position on the river bank and blissfully watched the boats etc passing all day. The showers and toilets were kept clean at all times with lovely warm water that you turn on and off as required none of this one hand keeping it on while your trying to wash yourself, definite bonus. Facilities well maintained, I'd say the campsite was more for couples not much for children to do and right next to river. This has been the most expensive campsite we have stayed on so far but everything is included in the price even the fishing. We will be visiting this campsite again, hopefully next time we can go on the river boat from the campsite to York

What a lovely site shower and toilets. What I would call very old fashioned but excellent clean.
None of this press and press and press button. For lovely hot water showers and spotless toilet block.
This site is run by farmers, family business and have very high standards. Very friendly and wardens owners ( farmers) can not do enough for you.
Bus stop outside site to York every hour. Just remember to make sure you have river side view if requested ( certain dates early March Mothers Day weekend are closed that's what disappointed when we arrived. Told it was open ????) The Wardens were aware we had booked riverside view weeks before but did not ring us to say the bank was closed till the March 23rd under Water Ways Licence.
The Ship Inn next door and I mean next door recently taken over by new owners Hamish What a guy great food and warm welcomes welcomes you all.
Now the down side, the site has seasonal pitches, and there were dogs wandering as and when and also tied up, constant barking while owners kids play outside their caravan exciting their long loved pet.
Overall very good site and owners very respectable.
