First visit to this site and would definitely go back. Very friendly and helpful arrival. Shown to pitch and the warden gave a hand to push van onto pitch. Shower block was spotless as was the whole site. Great location as the site is a five minute walk into the small town with lots of places to eat.

The site has no playpark, but there is one at the garden centre which is next door with an off road path joining the site to the garden centre. There are two large ponds for fly and bait fishing with rod hire in the garden centre. We have two kids (2 and 13), so we spent an afternoon at the playpark and fishing.

Co op nearby next to woolen mill. If you like eating out you get discounts at some hotels for being on this site. Overall had a great weekend, cant wait to go back when weather is a bit better.

This is a lovely site in beautiful surroundings and a nice town. It's easy to access, level, with good and clean facilities. Hosts were incredibly welcoming and helpful.

Moffat town centre is 2 minutes walk away and has a very good selection of pubs, restaurants and shops - and you get discount vouchers from the campsite for several of them. We used this as a stopping off point, but would come back for a holiday to walk and explore in this area

Our second New Year here and cannot remember how many other stays in the summer since we joined the Caravan Club. Facilities great showers very hot just what you need. Staff as usual very friendly and helpful. Just a short walk to town with all the shops, bars and cafes you need. Close to the Moffat Wool Mill open every day but Christmas Day great coffee shop restaurant with reasonably priced food and shopping. Great Firework display and Piper on New Years Eve and a party for club members at local pub plenty of places to eat in the evening. We will be back so close to motorway and great friendly site with Christmas lights on so many vans just love it.

Just back from a long weekend here in low season (November).

The site is conveniently located; it is 1 mile off junction 15 on the M74 and situated right on the edge of the village. You can park up the car and walk into Moffat for its shops / pubs etc. There is a small Co-op just 2 minutes from the site that has an excellent selection of goods. Moffat itself is a small, pretty, traditional Scottish village. It has a small number of tourist shops including the Moffat Toffee Shop which is well worth a look.

In terms of eating out, there are Italian and Indian restaurants, plus there are a number of pubs / hotels that do food. There is no Chinese restaurant but there is a Chinese take away and at least two fish n chip shops.

The site itself was disappointing. It felt like a “pack em in” site and in summer would be claustrophobic. The pitches look to be the regulation 6m apart and no more. Add to this the access roads around the site are very narrow - meaning you're very close to the units opposite you and there is limited space for manoeuvring. The hard-standings are not wide enough to get a caravan and a car on. You can get half your car on - or not at all if you have an awning. The site was very boggy during our visit so this just added to the mud churn across the site generally. The wardens did however let us park our car on the next pitch and marked it up on the map in reception as being used.

The site has a reasonable amount of green space, but is mostly open plan with no dividers between pitches. It could do with a lot more hedging / planters / shrubs / trees to break up the space and provide some privacy. Even in November with few / no children, people were taking short-cuts across others pitches. In summer with kids running all over the site, this could be very irritating.

When we arrived, the check-in was fine. We had booked online and the reservation was correct. We were given a choice of pitches then shown to the pitch. The warden clearly assumes no-one can reverse and immediately started issuing instructions for getting onto the pitch (keep going, left-hand down, back a bit etc). This is simply insulting to those of us that can reverse well.

There are two dog walks on site; one in the rear far corner and one at the entrance. The one at the rear is not very nice - given the wet year we've had this was a complete bog. It is also not very large and feels like an after-thought. The one at the entrance is better - it is a narrow grassed field which has the site on one side and a stream on the other. When we arrived the stream was about 6 inches to 1 foot deep; after one solid day of rain it was about 3-4 feet deep and VERY fast moving. Any dog falling into it would immediately be swept away and there is no barrier between the dog walk and the stream. So if deep, keep your dog away from the edge.

There was a fair bit of noise whilst we were on site. First you can hear the motorway (faint hum but always audible). Second they were doing some maintenance on site and so diggers & machinery were always trundling about the site. Third there seemed to be some boom box type music coming from beyond the back of the site. Not sure what this was nor exactly where it came from. It was present only at the weekend.

One pleasant noise however was Moffat village church clock. This struck every quarter hour between about 7am and 10/11pm. Very traditional sound and quite refreshing to hear if you don't get that at home.

The site has a section devoted to caravan storage. It looks like the site offers the service of getting a caravan out of storage and onto / off of a pitch prior to arrival and after departure. Very handy if this is a favourite site. However a few pitches face the storage section which didn't feel to us to be a very nice outlook (luckily not our pitch).

There is one large toilet block in the centre of the site. The toilets were always clean but are very dated and could do with refurbishment. There were other facilities (washing machines etc) but we didn't use them. The chemical toilet is located in a small room on the side of the toilet block and was also kept clean. There is also a pull-in motorhome service point for water etc.

So in summary; great trip overall; great location; good stopover for North / South traffic; site offers the usual range of services expected but was disappointing generally and in particular with regard to size of pitches, space between pitches and lack of foliage to break-up the space. Probably wouldn’t return to this site but would certainly return to the area.

Visited Moffat for first time and was very impressed with the site.

Toilets and facilities very clean and well maintained. Good dog walking area. It is a busy site but always quiet.

Site is very near the town centre which has a range of interesting shops and a selection of eating places. Coop store is a short walk from site for supplies.

The wardens were very friendly and helpful.

Will definitely be back!

We spent 2 nights at this site -first time we have visited Moffat. Lovely site within a few minutes walk from town centre. Lots of pubs and hotels to chose from. Good dog run on site.

Toilets a little tired but very clean and spacious. Level sites with hard standing which is always good considering the distinctly soggy weather we have had this year! Co op store just around the corner so supplies are taken care off.

Wardens/owners very friendly and helpful. More importantly this is a really good overnight stop if you are travelling north as its just a few moments off the A74 so ideal. Would definitely use again - good site and good location.
