Just had a great week at Desmesne Farm with 2 adults and 2 teenagers. I think this kind of site might be a dying breed which is a real shame. The facilities are basic but clean and you need to cross a farm yard to get to them (wellies are essential if there is any rain!). No queues for the showers while we were there but the site was quiet (interesting to see how much busier the Caravan Club site down the road was!).

At Demesne Farm you get an electric hook up if you need it, hot showers, loos, a washing up sink, somewhere to empty your portaloo and that's it. You also get a lovely farm setting right in the centre of the village and friendly owners. Other than a little farm noise which was to be expected the site was very peaceful.

EHU pitches are marked and generously sized. Despite 2. 5 days of almost continuous rain the site drained well and quickly dried out. We visited Kielder twice (bike hire, walking and fishing), went to Hexham, Corbridge and Haltwhistle and did a day on Hadrians Wall. Oh and when the rain really got too much for the teenagers we left the car in Hexham (2 for the day!) and took the train to the MetroCentre.

We had 2 very good meals at the Cheviot Hotel, which gets very busy on a weekend, and a good takeaway from the Chinese. The Coop is excellent and you really could find anything you wanted in there, along with the other smaller shops in the village.

There is also a decent sized children's play area in the village with a nice picnic area and riverside walks if you have little ones.

Towing to the site is easy if you take the A69 to Hexham then up to Bellingham. In summary you cant beat this place for location and if you want a proper camping experience then you will love it. We hope to be back one day!

This is a small site for tents, tourers. Owners are very friendly and helpful. Is basic but there are showers, hot water, washing up area. The site is in the village so if you don't want to go far there is no need. 3 pubs and co-op which is open until 10pm every day. There is butcher, baker but no candlestick maker, although there is a very nice shop which sells such things. For those who like to walk there are lovely walks around Bellingham. The facilities are reflected in the price per night which is very reasonable compared to some sites we have been to. If you want a no frills but lovely little site me and all my friends visit regular as we all love it.

This was our first camping trip with our two year old so was a bit nervous if he was still a bit young for camping. He loved it!

The campsite was situated on a small working farm, but was not noisy, we never realy heard much noise from the animals despite them being so close. There were two fields assigned for camping, one with electric which we did not use. We were met by the farmer on arrival who directed us where to find the field and left us to pick a spot which was good. We were able to pitch our tent with ease, ground more then suitable. Toilets and showers were clean and water was hot (50p for shower gave you 6mins more then enough time. )only small issue was pot washing is in male or female toilets so not able to wash dishes together if you wanted.

On site there were lots of lambs, two calfs and free range chickens which our two year old loved. Both farmers were often seen working on the farm and were always very friendly. They allowed our son to go into the barns to get a closer look at the animals and even feed the very tiny baby lambs their bottle. This was a big hit and they became 'his lambs'.

Site is within walking distance to a water fall and village a stones throw away.

Looking forward to returning to this site again.

Just come back from a short stay at this campsite. Its a working farm and the facilities are acceptable for the price though 1 shower wasn't really enough in the ladies and there were queues in the morning. There were 2 showers for the men and one morning my husband said there was a lady using one of them who had obviously got fed up waiting.

The campsite is in a rural setting surrounded by sheep but also in the centre of Bellingham which was pretty much perfect.

There is a larger field for non-ehu pitches which looked lovely but was quite a distance from the amenities. We were in the smaller ehu field nearer the toilets which to be honest felt cramped and claustrophobic. There were 2 groups of 3 families sharing the area which didn't help. One of the reasons I chose this campsite was because in the rules and regulations stated they didn't allow groups of more than 2 families.

If we were to return I would do it in the middle of summer when we didn't need electricity.

Visited Demesne again this week. Absolutely love the place. Bellingham is a beautiful place and the farm itself is perfect. Went by myself and my dog and had a thoroughly relaxing stay. Really nice walks along the river.

Ample shops in the village, 2 banks, 3 pubs and a chinese restaurant/take away. Garage sells everything, like Arkwright's shop.

Going to make an effort to get there more often.

Thanks again to the owners.

We stayed for two nights with my grandson, we have been to this Farm site in the past and always enjoyed our stay. This time was no different. We have seen some big improvements to the site, and the grass for pitching your tent is the best we have seen in any campsite we have stayed. There is also an over flow pitch too, so it's always worth calling the farm if your looking for a place last minute too.

This is a working farm, kids and adults alike, will experience nature at it's best.

Showers and toilets are kept up to standard with regular cleaning.

The location is perfect as a base to visit other parts of Northumberland and Keilder water too. There are local shops, cafe and pubs serving food within walking distance so there is something for everyone.

If you enjoy a walk, then why not set off on a 1. 5 mile journey upto Hareshaw Linn and see the Waterfall. There are around seven bridges leading the way, crossing sides for spectacular views. The start of the walk is only over the road from Demesne Farm.
