A well looked after site with a lovely warm centrally-heated and modern shower block. Being able to have a camp fire was lovely, and for £4 the campsite provides enough wood, kindling and even fire lighter blocks in a complete 'camp fire kit'. Sadly cooked breakfast wasn't available for the morning we were there, perhaps too much in the off-season.

Useful location not far from Dolgellau, although there was some noise from lorries climbing the hill on the A470 in the early evening.

The Torrent Walk is within walking distance, and this makes a nice hour-long walk from the campsite from bottom to top and back down again.

Lovely quiet campsite with beautiful views, horses in the opposite field, buzzards and owls, town only 10 minutes away by car with large co op. £18 per night with electrical hook up. Washing facility's were really luxurious, with heating in the shower block, pitches were level, only half an hour by car from any major attractions, would go back here again. Very friendly staff.

Me and my family have visited torrent walk on a number of occasions over the previous 10 years except for last year when we tried a different site. We decided to use torrent walk for our holiday this summer. The site is clean and tidy but lacking in shade from the sun which can be quite problematic when it's hot. We found that we had to leave the site all day / everyday just to get a break from the sun. The site was very noisy at night due to large groups being allowed to stay on site. The site became very crowded and tents were very close together. Due to the noise we decided to leave a day early. We will not be using this site again for our main holiday.

We selected this site as it had wifi and accepted dogs. My wife and I both work for ourselves so sometimes get called upon to work, even when on holiday.

We arrived without difficulty – although the approach lane is narrow there are passing places. It was a couple of days before the August bank holiday weekend and there was plenty of space. Although we had pre-booked and confirmed by email, our arrival seemed a bit of a surprise to the staff, who couldn't find any record of our booking. The rather reserved welcome became more effusive after we'd paid £198 cash in advance of our 9 night stay. We were given a pitch at the end of the large hedge that divides the main campsite in half. It was just out of range of the (free) wifi signal, but as we have our own booster this wasn't a problem. We were then also told that an additional £3 per night had to paid for putting up our awning for the three days of the bank holiday weekend – this grated slightly.

By Saturday the site had filled to the brim with caravans and tents! Everyone was well behaved and respectful so no problems there. BUT… this is when a problem manifested itself. The water supply is woefully inadequate – the pressure seemed low when we first arrived, but when the whole site is either drawing water or showering, the water supply became painfully slow. Filling a 40 litre water container took over ten minutes and sometimes trickled to a stop. We used our on on-board shower so I don't know if the site's showers slowed down, and I don't know how the small shower block coped with the throng of visitors.

A related problem was waste disposal. The chemical disposal point was simply a hole in the ground with a concrete surround and was, frankly, a health hazard. Waste collected in the concrete recess and couldn't be hosed away because there wasn't enough water pressure from the adjacent (drinking water!) stand pipe. In addition there was no privacy – the location is right next to the site's entrance so you are on full display as people come and go. I also had a young girl queuing behind me to fill up a kettle from the standpipe I had just connected a hose to to attempt to clean the place!

I called at the house to speak to staff to see if the water pressure could be increased but was simply told the owner was away. The situation didn't improve until the end of the bank holiday Monday when the number of visitors reduced to the level of when we first arrived.

Our electricity supply remained good for the duration of our stay.

It was a shame the water supply was an issue because there were some good things about the site. The layout was good (but could do with some speed limit signs as some drivers drove too fast) – it had mountain views, was good for dog-walking and was only a ten minute drive from central Dolgellau pubs and the good Co-op. The main road runs quite near to the site and we could hear traffic, but the low hum was no worse than what we are used to at home. Dolgellau is ideally located for driving to various beauty spots for mountain walking, beaches etc etc.

The price was about average but we feel that the site needs further investment in the water supply and waste treatment if it was going to offer good value. We probably won't be coming back. There are plenty of sites in the area, so we will look for an alternative that meets our needs when we return to the area.

Have stayed here on 3 occasions because it is convenient for some great local walks (try the Precipice Walk), as well as Cadair Idris. The Torrent Walk from which the site takes its name is a few minutes down the narrow lane and is also well worth a visit. Very convenient for Dolgellau and the cycle route to Barmouth. Also a great Little Chef 5 minutes walk away.

Negatives: Road noise from the main road adjacent to the site can be a problem as vehicles climb the steep hill. Gets very busy at peak times. The site allows large groups of tent campers (obviously a nice earner) so check before you book. When I was there a large group of males had a large stack of crates of beer and the noise increased as the evening wore on and continued until the early hours and it was very disruptive. The site owners seemed unconcerned when I complained the next morning therefore I cut my loses and left 2 days early. No refund offered and I won't be back.

We stayed for two nights at Torrent Walk and were very impressed. It was very quiet, which I guess was due to the recent weather and being the week after English schools' half term. The site is well kept and the facilities modern and very clean. It was fantastic to have the option of a home cooked breakfast at the farm house, which I'd recommend thoroughly. It's really easy to find, just off the A470 and well placed for all of the outdoor activities in the surrounding area. We enjoyed Coed-y-Brenin, the Mawddach trail and discovered the spectacular Torrent Walk on an evening hike that ended in dinner at the lovely Cross Foxes Inn a few miles up the road. We will stay here again
