Having booked this campsite and then read the tripadvisor reviews, all I say is don't judge a book by its cover.

Amazing find for proper camping experience. We were in a touring caravan but the electric kettle and toaster are a bit too much for the electricity there. So gas it was and we had 4 days of fun here. A visit to Parc Asterix is around 20 minutes away, Paris around an hour and a cycle/walking track from the site to the local village on bike was around 10 minutes or less with young kids. Lovely village with a Carrefour, Aldi, a couple of shops, ATM and bars/tabacs and boulangerie.

Pool on site is around 22 degrees, so heated by sun.

Brilliant play areas for children with the large slide on site using all contours of the old quarry faces.

Gentleman owner works very hard and is very helpful for local area, very passionate about your stay and ideas of what to do.

Chantilly town is a definite worthy visit, twinned with Epsom for the horse racing - stunning entrance to the village from the Paris area.

Snack bar on site with small shop facility and bread/croissants etc was also very adequate.

Toilet and washing facilities were ideal, never had a cold shower and washing machine and tumble dryer was also adequate.

After a rather tortuous journey, we eventually arrived at Campix. Access is a little fraught with a large motorhome!

The campsite is rather sprawling; emplacements are not clearly demarcated. Electricity points were difficult to spot.

It is deeply shaded, adjacent to a disused quarry. It is well suited for walking and cycling. It has a very relaxed air.

The facilities were good. Staff at Reception were friendly and helpful.

The motorhome service point was difficult to find and to access.

It is well located to explore interesting places nearby, such as the impressive Chantilly.

Not an easy site to find so not ideal for a night halt which is what we were hoping for. The road in is single track so would have been a problem if anything like a coach was coming the other way.

The site itself is quite quirky the pitches are not clearly marked and got the impression that you more or less set up camp where you wanted although some of the pitches were quite difficult to manoeuvre into. I think campers with tents would really enjoy it as a lot of people had open fires etc. The facilities were first class and the owner very welcoming and friendly and spoke good English.

We stayed here for 4 nights as a safe rural site to visit Paris from. It is tucked away behind the village, past fields of corn and horses. The site is quiet, with lots of little leafy nooks to camp in. Our neighbours were friendly. When choosing the campsite we were keen on the pool, but it is only open from 10. 30-7. 30 so it does not fit with having days out. Like many other French sites, you can order bakery goods on a list in reception for collection in the morning. The toilets are clean, with toilet paper, but no seats or handwash.

We followed the owner's extensive instructions for travelling to Paris. Drive 15 miles past Chantilly chateau to Fosses station with free car park. Then he explained which were the best tickets to buy. RER train 40 minutes to the centre of Paris. It's quite a long way, but lovely to come back to this oasis of rural calm before going back to the hubbub of Paris. Also it feels very safe here as opposed to some sites nearer town.

We spent a week at Campix, the site manager was the most helpful owner I have ever met, nothing was too much trouble. The individual pitches are quite level, with clusters of 3-5 vans in secluded woodland clearings providing just the right mix of sun, shade and shelter. Fresh bread on site every morning (good selection) and a mini café that sold hot food (good for kids). Nice pool, but it gets busy when hot. The site is very well placed to explore the surrounding countryside, recommend Paris by train - can get a one day travel pass that covers metro and mainline. Parc Asterix and Monets garden within an hours travel - whole hartedly recommend this site and would camp there again anytime.

Stayed at Campix for four days at the beginning of our French holiday.

On arrival the owner greets you with a smile and speaks very good English.

Facilities at Campix are good, toilets with good hot water supply and were always clean.

Swimming pool is very nice, although did get rather crowded and was spoiled slightly by people playing with balls at busy times.

Good reception with loads of info on what to do in surrounding area, also there is a mini shop and snack bar and bread can be ordered for the next day.

We liked the fact that this site is rustic and the owner hasnt tried to commercialise the site too much. Also camp fires are allowed which adds to the rustic feel, we even cooked a beef stew for our tea on the fire one night.

Theres plenty to do in the surrounding, Chantilly is lovely with its chateau and horse shows. Also there is a river which runs from the local village where you can walk or cycle.

Paris is not far away and easy accessed by train.

This is our second visit to Campix and we would definitely stay here again.
