Excellent site, wardens welcoming, helpful and friendly throughout our stay. Showers etc spotless at all times, even during the heavy rain we suffered! However the showers are the annoying push button type, but quite a spell between pushes!

Pitches spacious and drained well. Unlike a previous poster we had no problems with the electric and ran our heating, microwave etc with no tripping.

We stayed looking towards the forest so not really bothered by the road, or the trains which run approx every half an hour.

Great walks through the forest, Go Ape an easy walk as are a couple of cafes which were well used by walkers, cyclists.

However the best thing for us was the ' no ball games ' rule, what a relief! Being the ' proud' owners of a football dent in our new van it was great not to have to worry! This rule didn't seem to upset any of the children on site including ours who cycled, explored and enjoyed the forest and wildlife. Be aware though there are no play areas for children on the site.

I would go again without question.

Quite disappointed with this site. We arrived on the 29th December for 4 nights which was 2 adults, 2 children and a dog. Felt it was quite expensive at 140 for the break. Easy check in and showed to our site and was advised that it was 16amp. Couldn't even boil a kettle without it tripping the electrics. I couldn't understand why we got charged for children as there was absolutely no amenities for them. There was 'Do Not. ' signs everywhere and felt like we couldn't do anything. The showers were of a poor quality, although they were clean, you had to keep pressing the button, but it wasn't a continual flow, it stopped each time. The bins were at the entrance of the site, which was a bit of a bind as we were positioned near the back and there was snow, so was a good 5 minute walk. There was some good walks around there for the dog and a small shop a mile away, we also walked to a pub which is a 15 minute walk.

We arrived for a 2 night stay over half term. Very friendly welcome, we stayed this time on the far side of the park, nearest the forest which is quieter than near the toilet block side, as you do get some road noise there.

Excellent location for Delamere Forest as you can walk or cycle straight there, no need to drive.

Well stocked shop on site, good washing facilities, very friendly staff.

My daughter enjoyed watching the wild rabbits come out at dusk.

Go Ape is about a 5 minute walk from the site through the forest.

We enjoyed our stay there, and will be returning soon.

Good location, good facilities but not family friendly.

No ball games, no frisbee, no laughing (OK the last one wasn't an official rule). There are a signs all over informing what you can't do.

I would never visit here again. If you have children find somewhere else. When we go camping we spend much of the time playing ball games, frisbee, cycling, etc.

It is next to a railway station but the train noise isn't a problem. There is plenty to do in the nearby forest with a reasonable cafe and bike hire.

We stopped off here for 2 nights on our journey up to the lakes and were well pleased. It's got all the standard facilities of a C&CC site and is set in a lovely area in the forest. The wardens are very welcoming and work hard to keep the site looking in good condition. We did a couple of walks direct from the site, one of which (starting from the station) climbed Old Pole Hill to a brilliant view point with a standing stone circle indicating the 7 counties you could see from the spot along with 20 or so other points of interest. Didn't explore much further afield but if you want to visit Chester the station is a 2 minute walk from the site.

Others have commented on noise from the trains and the road - we were backed on to the railway line and can't say we noticed much disturbance form there at all. There is a little road noise at times but again nothing to spoil your stay.

An excellent site and we'd certainly return if in the area again.

Stayed here for 2 nights with partner and baby. Overall we were pleased with the site and enjoyed our stay. The toilets were clean but it was annoying to have to key a code in to access them. We used the baby bathroom and it was great- had everything needed for baby or child.

The location is good and we had a nice day cycling in the forest. Ventured to the local shop which was well equipped which was a good thing as there is no shop or bar on site. We are used to Dutch campsites which often have shop, bar, playground, pool, cafe etc and fresh bread in the morning for the same price we paid at Delamere. We don't camp in the UK much so I can't comment on whether this site was overpriced. The pitch size was fine but there wasn't any privacy eg bushes to separate us from our neighbours. The noise level was also fine.

I would have liked to see something for children to do such as a sandpit or playground. There were signs everywhere saying no ball games which seemed odd.
