Good location, good facilities but not family friendly.

No ball games, no frisbee, no laughing (OK the last one wasn't an official rule). There are a signs all over informing what you can't do.

I would never visit here again. If you have children find somewhere else. When we go camping we spend much of the time playing ball games, frisbee, cycling, etc.

It is next to a railway station but the train noise isn't a problem. There is plenty to do in the nearby forest with a reasonable cafe and bike hire.

We stopped off here for 2 nights on our journey up to the lakes and were well pleased. It's got all the standard facilities of a C&CC site and is set in a lovely area in the forest. The wardens are very welcoming and work hard to keep the site looking in good condition. We did a couple of walks direct from the site, one of which (starting from the station) climbed Old Pole Hill to a brilliant view point with a standing stone circle indicating the 7 counties you could see from the spot along with 20 or so other points of interest. Didn't explore much further afield but if you want to visit Chester the station is a 2 minute walk from the site.

Others have commented on noise from the trains and the road - we were backed on to the railway line and can't say we noticed much disturbance form there at all. There is a little road noise at times but again nothing to spoil your stay.

An excellent site and we'd certainly return if in the area again.

Stayed here for 2 nights with partner and baby. Overall we were pleased with the site and enjoyed our stay. The toilets were clean but it was annoying to have to key a code in to access them. We used the baby bathroom and it was great- had everything needed for baby or child.

The location is good and we had a nice day cycling in the forest. Ventured to the local shop which was well equipped which was a good thing as there is no shop or bar on site. We are used to Dutch campsites which often have shop, bar, playground, pool, cafe etc and fresh bread in the morning for the same price we paid at Delamere. We don't camp in the UK much so I can't comment on whether this site was overpriced. The pitch size was fine but there wasn't any privacy eg bushes to separate us from our neighbours. The noise level was also fine.

I would have liked to see something for children to do such as a sandpit or playground. There were signs everywhere saying no ball games which seemed odd.

Recently visited Delemere Forest C&CC site to find the site staff most helpful and obliging. Good location for visiting Chester using the park and ride facilities. Just to warn users of camper vans there is a height restriction on the P & R car park. This is a great site for those who love walking or mountain biking as there is direct access to the huge Delemere Forest complex. A fish and chip van visits the site twice a week and well worth a try. The nearby Station Cafe is well worth a visit for breakfast. The facilities are excellent and always kept very clean. The only down side to this site is the lack of TV reception on a normal caravan digital aerial, you will need a satellite dish to receive your favourite channels. Will be returning to Delemere Forest in the near future.

This site is really popular and can be hard to get booked on to. We are frequent visitors as our family live in the area. The facilities are very good, always warm and clean and I believe they are Eco friendly.

The couple that run the site are always very friendly and willing to help, I had some issues with my car alarm during this visit and the manager was quick to lend a hand.

There are no child facilities as such but the forest is one big playground for kids, dogs and adults alike.

The only minor point is that TV reception can be a bit marginal and seems a bit dependant on where you are pitched.

Overall a great site.

A lovely site bordering the forest. The railway station is a couple of minutes walk away with trains to Manchester or Chester every hour. There was some noise from the trains when they were leaving the station and some traffic noise from the adjacent road. This was not a problem to us but may be for tent campers. There is a motorhome service point with a drive over grid for waste water and the chemical toilet disposal is next to it, which was very convenient. The toilet block was warm and clean and the showers lovely and hot. The wardens were very friendly and helpful.

We used the trains to Manchester and Chester and found both worked well. Chester station is about 10 minutes walk from the main shopping street and Manchester further away but a free metroshuffle bus operates every 10 minutes taking you into the centre of Manchester. We used the number 3 purple bus to take us near to the science museum. There is also a large car park in Chester (Little Roodee) without a height barrier, which is about 10-15 minutes walk from the city centre.

This site is in a lovely location, open all year, and we would definitely use it again.
