Fantastic site. Situated next to a beautiful river, well laid out and roomy pitches. Plenty of shade and a nice bar (albeit not cheap but then France is no longer cheap!) and very good value take away meals on offer if booked earlier in the day.

The facilities are excellent. Clean, plentiful, no problem with hot water and no silly restrictions via push buttons or coin operated showers etc.

Lovely owners who will book up things like canoe rides etc. Very laid back.

A Baker's van comes around in the morning with fresh bread croissants etc.

The surrounding countryside is beautiful, with loads of places to visit.

I will definitely be coming back to this site and would recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone.

We have stayed here for about five years and really like it. In the past we have camped but brought our own caravan this time.

It is very convenient, just of the A71 but in a quiet uncommercial area.

The camp-site is quirky, quiet and very clean. Different meals are available most nights.

Lots of play areas for children. Swimming is in the river which is accessed from the site. It is quite shallow (came up to my knees in most places). Nice little shop and bar with free wi-fi access which worked much better on this site than others.

Ebreuil is a lovely, quiet little village with necessary facilities - shops, banks, tourist info, pharmacy etc.

All in all an excellent site and excellent value for money.

We have just returned from 11 days camping at La Filature and couldn't praise the site enough.

We were made very welcome by the owners John and Jane. The toilets and showers were clean and well maintained as was the whole site. Each day a menu was put up of a delicious home made meal. You ordered it earlier in the day and then collected it freshly made and took it back to your unit to eat in your own area. Each meal we had was first class.

There was plenty of play areas for children and the river running beside the site offered canoe trips for the more adventurous.

The local village was just a mile away and had a small supermarket which was quite adequate.

In the area there is plenty to see but without any commercialism.

We have camped all over the UK and Europe and Canada and this one is definitely the best we have ever stayed on. It met all our needs and was more than we could have expected.

Thank you John and Jane for giving us a truly relaxing and happy holiday. All being well we will be back in 2015.

We loved this site. We were four adults in motorhome and two small tents plus a utility tent for socialising in. The pitch we chose was enormous and close to the river bank where we were constantly entertained by birds, fish, dragon flies and red squirrels. The owners are British and are helpful and friendly but not intrusive - just as we like it.

The showers and toilets were a delight. Someone in a previous review thought they were too rustic but you got a hot, fast shower and privacy in clean toilets. Washing up facilities plentiful. What more could you want? On other sites the shower blocks have been brand new but we preferred these because they had proper walls between cubicles.

ACSI card made this a great value stay.

The nearby town of Ebrueil was lovely. (1km) We ate in a funny little cafe/restaurant called Zabelles and enjoyed a good meal for a very reasonable price.

Spar supermarket had everything you could need for a few days. Bank, post office and a few small shops plus an ancient abbey make it an interesting and useful place for a stroll.

Anyone keen on canoeing would find this an ideal site.

A lovely site in a genuine and pretty small town or large village on the river, only a 10 minute walk away with small Casino supermarket and all the usual independent shops for basics. The pitches are all of a very good size and clearly separated although no hedges. The river runs right by some of them, and you can access it directly from these, or from the path that runs through the campsite next to the river. It is quite fast flowing but only knee to thigh deep so perfect for messing about in rubber boats (not real swimming) or putting a chair into and reading a book. Canoes go past all the time.

The loos/washing areas are clean although not spider proof, but plenty of them and the showers have hand held heads, which hook up (ie not fixed to wall permanently). Plenty of hot water. And looroll!

There is ping pong (2 tables), a tiny bar with seating outside with internet (free).

The area is extremely friendly -we visited the Puy de Dome, Vichy and pretty villages all around - we found plenty to do for the 6 nights we stayed and we have teenagers.

British owners who are very cheerful. Home cooked meals can be ordered. Bread van visits every morning inc weekends.

Mainly Brits and a few Dutch with some overnighters as not far from motorway.

Would highly recommend this if you want a quiet site for relaxing and just messing about in peaceful surroundings in a beautiful area. We visited late August and it was half empty by then.

Heading north we found Camping de la Filature in the Alan Rogers Guide and turned up around 3. 30pm. Reception was closed and a sign asked us to pitch where we wanted and pop back to do the paperwork when they re-opened at 4. 30. No problem and being pretty quiet, we bagged a pitch by the river with power and made ourselves comfy. I went back up to reception a little later and was greeting by Jane, the owner, who made us most welcome and explained whilst they had no restaurant, would we like tonights take away - beef bourguignon? Yes please! So it was booked for 7. 30 and when I went back to collect, Jane served it up with potatoes in a warmed earthenware dish to take back to the 'van. We served it up and it was delicious and just what we needed after a days travelling. Absolutely brilliant!

The site is very peaceful and everything has a well worn feeling - rather like a pair of slippers. But you need to take the loos and showers with a pinch of salt although the water is hot and they are clean. Up at reception, Jane has a small shop with basic supplies and there is even a fabulous little bar to slake your thirst. Access to this site is easy off the A75 and it is a gem. Highly recommended.
