Good, efficient well organised site. Very clean facilities. Most pitches have some shade, perhaps a little on the tight side if you don't have a mover.

Bernay is an interesting little town with several places to eat. Good for a stroll around but perhaps too far to walk from campsite. Lovely cycle route along a disused railway but it is uphill to the campsite!

Only ten minutes from motorway, follow signs from previous reviewer.

We stayed on this site on our way back from the Vendee, we found it was hard to get on to the pitches with a larger van, so had to use the mover. The other thing was it was dearer than we would have paid for a normal site for one night it was 19. 50 euros. It is a well kept site. The toilets block was clean and tidy. The town is well worth a visit if you have the time. There is a large supermarket in the town.

We used the site as a one night stop off as we went further south. It is 3 hours from Calais and was perfect when you have 2 young children in the back. It is only 10 minutes from the autoroute. The family who run it were polite, friendly and very proud of their site. The lady who we dealt with spoke mainly French and broken English. She appreciated our efforts to speak French, as you would expect. You do not have to pre-book, but it did get busy. It was a mixture of people continuing their journey and those who stopped to explore the region. The facilities were clean and the pitches were a good size, separated by hedges. The park was fun for the kids and you can also borrow games, bats and balls etc. From the office. Gas barbecues are allowed. The main gate is secure and has a code. The surrounding area is residential and business, but very quiet. Bernay itself is a pleasant town, as I found when driving around trying to find a local store late in the evening. In fact the local store a 5 minute walk away was ideal and friendly.

Since we enjoyed our initial visit, we decided to return on our way home. The lady remembered us and was pleased to see us. It was just as good the second time around, even if the weather was not! I certainly recommend this site.

This is a gem of a campsite and has everything you would need for an overnight stop and more. We completely agree with the review by Trooper and would recommend this site to others.

We didn't have time to visit Bernay, although there was lots of tourist information available at the site, and found it easy to get some pizzas for a lovely alfresco meal before getting on with the journey!

I only used this site as an overnight stop on the way back to Calais. What a pleasant surprise.

What do you need in an overnight stop. Easy to find site with plenty of signs. Level clearly marked pitches to make setting up easy. Good roads around the site to make movement easier. Good security. Good clean showers with plenty of hot water. Good clean toilets. EHU. Easy to access water and waste. Good efficient staff. Good local information.

This small municipal site has all that in bucket loads and more. For those who may want to stay a couple of extra days every pitch appeared to be full service at no extra cost.

A site I would definitely use again and would fully recommend others to use as well.

Well organised municipal, kept clean and tidy, with good average size pitches. Site is situated on west side of town, about 1.5km from town center, adjacent to an industrial area, and a sports complex. A good tip to find the site is to follow the signs for the hotel L'Acropole, these are on every approach to the town. At the end of the by pass there is a round-a-bout and you see the campsite signs from there. The general outlook is not particularly outstanding, but the site itself is very presentable.
Bernay is an attractive medium size town, with plenty of interesting shops, a number of old buildings, and a large and very good supermarket L'Eclerc.
If you don't want to cook, in a very short drive in direction Broglie, there is a good upmarket French restaurant adjacent to the hotel L'Acropole, or there is a v nice pizzeria facing the hotel.
On the opposite side of town, on the road out towards the L'Eclerc and just before the supermarket on the right is a small auberge which has one of the best "real" French atmospheres I have come across in France. The food is brilliant and basic, the pate comes in a big communal serve yourself bowl, with a dish of cornichons, and if you like fish choose whatever is on offer for the day. The owner Yves speaks v quickly, and can be a bit daunting if your French is not up to it, but he doesn't bite, and he does speak some English if he wants.
If you really want to push boat out, have a look at Le Moulin- Fouret (web site is www.moulin-fouret.com), for a real gastronomic treat, and not as expensive as you might think.
Bernay is on the "old " route from the channel to The Loire /Vendee, and Bernay is a useful o/night stop with an hour or two to look around. Now the A28 bypasses Bernay and goes direct Rouen - Le Mans etc. But if you are not a M-way fan, or find the A28 just too expensive (it is reputed to be the most expensive per km auotroute in France), then try Bernay.
