We stopped here for 2 nights going up to loch ness and stayed 1 night on the way back we paid £15. 50p for 2 adults 2 dogs electric and motorhome.
We received a warm welcome
Great site good views over the farm and motorway which was noisy at times but we didn't notice it after a while
very good dog walk We went into kinrosss and parked in a lovely park on loch leven with a great play area for kids. the shopping area is a short walk from the park and there are a few shops and a small supermarket with good prices where we bought the mince and onion bridies, which were lovely. There is a morrisons about 10 miles away
We drove further round the lake and parked up for a while looking at the loch.

We have just returned from a 5 night stay at Gallowhill. We had a very warm welcome and freedom to pitch wherever we wanted to with a choice of pitches with or without electric hookup.
The shower blocks were kept extremely clean and the 50p charge for the shower gave you ample hot water.
The site is in a fantastic location for exploring the local area.
It is a short drive to Knockhill Circuit as well.
The grass areas of the site were kept in very good condition and were fairly level.
There is a Sainsburys very close by and a picturesque drive to Glenrothes for a larger shopping centre.

It's a very nice and quiet campsite. The young lad at reception was very helpful and friendly. We (7 bikers) were given the freedom of choosing a place to pitch our tents. The toilet block was clean, the only issue one might have is the code that is required to enter the block-not a biggie.
There is a Sainsburys about 5min driving from the campsite, comes very handy if your food supplies are running out:).
The noise from the motorway is hardly noticeable so again no problem there.
We paid c. 6 pound per tent, very good value for money.
Going to stay there again on my next visit to Kinross.

Have to agree completely with previous review by Dillan. Went looking for a new site for a chillout weekend and found Gallowhill on the website, arrived Friday afternoon.
Very friendly and helpful young guy showed us to an ideal spot where we stayed the whole time. Apart from a brief visit to Kinross. Such a shame, it could be a lovely little village, but looking quite sad now.
It became a busy weekend on the site however, lots of bikers attending Knockhill, all very good natured and hilarious for people watching. A brilliant weekend, will come back for more soon. Luverly!

Chose this site as a one-night stop on our way up to Aberdeenshire. It's not glamorous as you drive up to the farm buildings but don't let that put you off. The young guy at reception was very nice, explained where everything was and, because we hadn't stayed at the site before, insisted on escorting us in his little car on to the pitch behind the farm. We didn't want electric so he said we could pitch anywhere.
It's a bit of a sloping area of grass but it's well kept and there were numerous picnic benches around for anyone to use. We pitched at the top, in front of the fence which is in front of a pine wood. There were only two other tents in the entire field.
I agree with all other comments with regard to the facilities thought didn't quite understand why a code was needed to enter the toilet/shower block. Never come across that before. Anyway, it wasn't a problem.
The noise from the M90 was noticeable. Not necessarily the volume of traffic but the noise the actual road surface generates. It's a background humming.
Kinross is an easy walk either via the road or one of the paths leading off near the site. Didn't have time to explore much, given we were there for just the one night. However, what we did notice was the sad state of some buildings such as the old Secondary school, which sits all boarded up since it closed with the opening of the new Academy. But what was particularly sad is the old Town Hall. All boarded up and sitting forlorn. Sad, as it's such a lovely building smack in the centre of town. I hope it gets some love, attention and a new lease of life.

Stayed here two nights on our way back home from a tour of the highlands and what a belting little site it is. Nothing was too much trouble for the bloke in charge, , polite, cheerful, informative
They also have a two tier service, one basic £9 per night and one with showers etc. Included £16. As there were four of us I chose the latter, told steven about the extra people and was told not to worry about it,
The dogwalk is a pleasure to walk in, wildlife abound
Kinross itself is a nice little town (walk down the little path to the right, 30 mins)
Do go on loch leven and see leven castle (once a prison to mary queen scots) and walk the paps of fife
Will be going back in september.
