Enjoyed 2 nights at this lovely campsite. The views over Ludlow are superb. It was about a mile walk through the woods into the town. The pitches well kept with very short grass. Good Basic facilities kept very clean, a gem of a site at a reasonable cost.

We had a wonderful time here. The lady who greeted us was business-like but clear in her explanations of site arrangements. The pitch we got was on the 'slope' but if you get your sleeping orientation right this presents no problem. Fantastic view of Ludlow. Facilities very clean and well organised, might have to queue for showers if it's busy. Horses in next door field serenaded us with harrumphs, coughs and the occasional sound of a lovely frisky gallop. A bit of a steep walk back from town, taking about 30 minutes, best avoided in the dark after quite a few lovely local ales! Great fun. Would return.

Stayed at the site at the start of July before schools had broken up so it was very peaceful. However It's a small site so I doubt it ever gets very busy or noisy.

The site is part of a riding school. Check-in is 2pm earliest as before then the parking for the school restricted access. The lady at reception on arrival was very pleasant and helpful. Our charge was 15 inc hookup for a large motorhome with 2 adults which was good value for money. The pitches are in a steep field in front of the farm with a small number of flattened pitches for caravans/motohomes.

All pitches are on grass with no hard standing. Although it had been raining a lot before our arrival Drainage was quite good, helped by the steepness I guess.

Facilities are limited with only 1 shower each for men & women but they are clean and the water was hot. There are also washing facilities. Water fill up and grey water dumping are near reception and for motorhomes are on arrival only as there is a strict one way policy on site. Water fill up is charged 1 per fill. There is also facilities to dump black water.

The site overlooks Ludlow but views are only really from the top pitches, the view from the lower pitches is obscured somewhat by trees.

The walk into Ludlow is around a mile, a bit hilly on the way back and although the road is quiet there are no pathways so you have to take care. There are some footpaths through the park from a layby around halway. Becaue of the late check in time we decided to take our van into Ludlow and there is a fantastic car park (Smithfield, Lower Gadleford, SY8 1RN) with parking spaces specifically for large vehicles, 2 for up to 10 hours and 5 minutes walk into town. We stayed in town until late afternoon and then just settled at the site. Last check in is 9pm which is good.

Ludlow itself is a charming old market town with some beautiful architecture, just the right size plenty of bespoke shops but very few chains. There is a market every saturday with some great stalls. The castle is magnificent.

All in all a nice quite site which we would definitely come back to and Ludlow is a lovely little town well worth a visit.

We've just returned from this wonderful site. Fantastic views over Ludlow and the surrounding hills and countryside. The camping field is grass, on a slope but with pitches levelled out. There iare two showers two toilets one for ladies and one for gents which could be a problem if fully booked.

The walk down to Ludlow is quite strenuous and only recommended if you are fit and able but well worth the effort.

I did feel that the owner/lady was a little lacking in people skills. Don't expect a friendly welcome here, let's just say she is very business like in her approach to you. One camper put it as she 'runs a tight ship' others thought she was rude. My run in was when I was picking up my dogs poop! I was told that my dog was not allowed to do it in the camping field! The dog had to do it outside. I told the dog and I think it understood! Well I managed to drag it quickly out each morning. God knows what you do if you have a bigger dog!

This really is a great site oh and it also has a riding establishment with it. Don't go near the horses unless you're wearing a riding hat!

Ok, would we go again? Yes, as said before, great site, great location and we did have a good time here

Management response: Thank you for submitting your review. In response I would like to make the following points:

1. As with most camp sites, dog owners are requested to walk their dogs off site. However some owners make no effort to walk their dog off site and think it is acceptable to let their dog foul the camping field provided it is picked up! This is totally unacceptable from a health and safety point of view, as there may be a residue left behind. Dog fouling is a hazard for toddlers and children and is offensive to others. If any dog cannot exit a small camping field before fouling surely it needs to be walked more often? We do not have a dedicated dog walk, but we do ask people to walk their dogs off the camping field towards the bottom of the drive and to bag and bin. We are also adjacent to Mortimer Forest with ample space for the longer exercise with marked walks if required.

2. With regards to the riding school, and wearing of riding hats, we are simply following appropriate health and safety measure in accordance with our licencing, British Horse Society membership and insurance guidelines.

3. We have very few rules, but the ones in place are for the benefit of all our guests.

However I am pleased to hear you had a good time and would stay again. If you can make yourself known to us on booking we will ensure you are positioned near to an exit gate for your dog walking convenience.

What an amazing little last minute find. The site is a field within a riding stables, and only allow pitching around the edge o the field, allowing plenty of space for free time. The adjoining fields have the stables riding horses, which are gentle and friendly although the sie owners do not encourage you to touch them, and will not allow you to feed them. The site overlooks the town of ludlow, and the castle can just be seen from the field although there is a much better viewpoint just outside. Overall, this is a lovely little site, but could do with additional toilet facilities as there is only 1 unisex toilet, and 1 of each at the rear of the farm itself.

The only disappointment we had was completely out of their control, of a little inconvenient. (A burst pipe and loss of water meant we came home a day early)

Would highly recommend.

Enjoyed a night at this lovely campsite. The views over Ludlow are breathtaking. We liked the fact you are a short walk away from the town but it feels in the middle of nowhere. Warm welcome and the pitches beautifully kept. Basic facilities but not a problem at all, the views made up for this!
