What are lovely area to camp in, the views are spectacular, it may be a little hilly but is in a wonderful location. Great atmosphere for all and well catered facilities for everyone. Our 4 man tent was pitched in the shade but with the warm weather we have had this was welcome. I'll be coming back later in the summer.

August 2004
we have just come back from Aug bank holiday, we had 2 piches in the top camping field. We had a brilliant time the toilets were cleaned at least twice a day if not more, there were 3 bath rooms and numerous shower rooms in our nearest block and we never had to queue, nor did we have to queue for washing up facilities which also had constent hot water (something we have not found at other camp sites).

The one evening we went to the entertainment was fantastic, Ginger Gav was extremely good at entertaining both children and adults alike (we had 3 with us that evening). The indoor swimming pool was fun and we did not seem too overcrowded, they put a pool closure sign up if there were too many people. The outside pool was not heated but the children had great fun. We will definately return.

We went to Finlake for our first camping family weekend and also our neighbours. We stayed by the golf range and found this to be just great, the views where excellent and the toilet block with the toilets, baths and showers, washing up area and constant hot running water was an extra bonus. We enjoyed the swimming pool and found it all to be clean. There was also the added touch of feeling safe with the regular rounds made by the security all hours days and night.
We enjoyed it so much that we have now purchased a much bigger tent and already planning our next camping trip. We will of course be returning to Finlake in the near future as well as exploring the other camp sites around.

July 2002
Finlake has been our best camping holiday yet. Here's a brief summary (highs and lows) from our point of view:
Excellent on-site shop - much better selection than most and reasonably priced.
Indoor pool very small and not very warm. Adequate changing rooms.
Outdoor pool excellent fun but absolutely freezing even on a hot day. No one seemed to stay in the pool - just queued for the big water slide, slid down screaming, hit the water screaming again coz it was so cold, climbed out and queued again. Kids loved it.
Food in restaurant excellent. Good quality and quantity and very reasonably priced. Restaurant not very big though - not sure how it copes on wet evenings when everyone decides not to light up their BBQs. Get there early I guess.
Entertainment didn't appeal to us -looked like a few kids running riot in a shabby room so decided not to hang about.
Pitched near the golf course - super views, peaceful and quiet although easy walking down the hill (cut through the bridleway) to the facilities. Liked being with other tents and not squashed in between caravans and towering camper vans.
Toilets and showers, washing up etc. adequate. Cleaned regularly.
Kids play area a bit disappointing - nice looking play equipment but set in filthy dirt which I guess was once a sandy safety surface. Not inspiring.
All the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful.
We will certainly return.

It was me and my boyfriends first time at Finlake and our first impressions of it was how well set out the campsite was, until we got to our pitch. We was pitched up right next to the golf course and a few times a golf ball came over and missed me and my boyfriend and also the car. There should be a tall fence to block this off from happening because someone could get really hurt especially a young child. So if you go and visit Finlake make sure you don't stay on the pitch right next to the golf course.

We only went to the Club House a few times and our first impressions was it was too small.

The toilets are well set out and cleaned regurlarly and the onsite shop is well stocked up, you can swap over your ice packs for frozen once but you get charged 25p each, if you haven't got ice packs then you would have to put down a 1 deposit plus pay 25p each and then at the end of your stay you get back the 1 deposit which in some ways I find that set up quite strange because your getting charged the same amount either way!!!!

We paid 14 a night during high season but this doesn't included using some of the facilities there like for example, playing tennis if you haven't got a tennis racket and ball you have to pay a deposit as well as 3.00 something for the hour on the court. The use of the pools is free but when we went it was raining most of the time so we didn't get to use the outdoor pool. If you want to go fishing you have to pay a certain amount during your stay there. Horse riding you get charged for on a hourly base. I'm pleased we tried out Finlake but I thought overall that the price was bit too much to stay there.

I think it is more set up for caravans and mobile homes than for tents, but thats my opinion.

We have only spent two weekends at Finlake in the past 9 months, but both times have been very enjoyable. The children love the outdoor pool with waterslide and the indoor pool is a good size. Restaurant and take-away very good. Entertainment ok. Beautiful site with lovely walks down near the lake. Good play ground for the children and well stocked shop.
Hoping to return soon.
