This is our third year at this site, and we loved it so much this time, we booked an extra week!
We got a very warm welcome from Donna and Chantelle, as we do from all the staff each time we visit, everyone is very helpful and friendly.
The owners of this site have just purchased the Widemouth Bay holiday village, and have a free minibus, so that you can have a few drinks, enjoy a meal and watch an amazing sunset over the bay. There is also a small indoor swimming pool, a great facility for those with younger children, and a great way to spend a rainy day!
One of the best Beaches for surf is Widemouth bay, and that is just over 1 mile away, Bude is very close, and has lots of lovely little shops, a Morrissons, and a small Sainsbury's, for all things surf, we tend to go to Zuma Jay.
I would also like to mention the cleaners, as it they who keep the facilities so pristine, so a big thank you to Anna and Kevin (day clean), and Karen and Mel (who were cleaning at 11pm!) Also, a special thanks to Ray, who has been there from the start, and always has a cheery smile!
We will be back next year, and will book two weeks! For us, there is no other campsite in this part of Cornwall!

Just got back from a really good trip. Campsite was very clean, fast and organised checking.
The shop open till 9:00pm was handy and contained most of the normal things you forget, and they had a large cage full of all sorts of gas canisters. I think there was some sort of freezer loan facility but I didn't make use of it.
The Bus to town/beach seemed like a good idea, especially for the teenagers and younger campers etc, but we didn't really need to use it (and it doesn't work on Saturday, due to campsite traffic or something like this).
The fried breakfast was a nice idea, the selection was a bit abstract, and the staff could be a little more accommodating to combinations, this is a fry up not a taster menu, and they might attract more business from the typical camper if they made the portions a little more generous, or did some sort of family combo discount etc. The food was all good and the surfer menu was plenty for me, even after the kids polished off half.
Clean shower & toilet blocks, although the women's was apparently not as clean as the gents. I put this down to good male hygiene, but my 'other half' might use the same evidence to argue the exact opposite. In all seriousness there is some sort of problem where the female showers end up draining across the whole room, but doesn't sound like the end of the world, and they seem to clean all the time.
Lots of good electricity hookups and decent sized pitches. Easy access from the A39 but not close enough to hear anything from the site. I checked out google street view to see the site and the very nearby black rock beach (about 4 mins by car).
Great playground and massive footy field all suitable for the teenager or the youngsters to hang out, although not really for toddlers.
There were loads of solid picnic benches in the tent field which made dinner time much easier. We dragged one over to ours and built the wind break around it.
Dog walking area was big, there was plenty of space for your Fido to run and not have to meet any other dog owners, it was a bit flat and boring with the hedges around it and a little far from the tents, but can't really complain as it is dog 'Walking' and it serves its purpose with good dog bins to make sure people keep it clean.
If the weather is really crap then the backup indoor swimming pool 2 mins drive up the road to the holiday village which looks a sort of mini centreparcs straight out of the 1970s, the changing rooms were dank & freezing, as were the showers, but the pool quite pleasantly warm and was fine for the kids to splash around on a cold day and we were reliably informed that the Sauna will be back up and running soon. Judging by how they run their campsite, the holiday village will be looking smart in no time and no doubt serving up hearty Sunday roasts etc.

My daughter and I had a short break here from Monday - Friday (although we left a day early to make the best of a bad incoming weather front!) I found the site facilities excellent.
The toilet blocks were regularly serviced and always clean and the facilities within more than we expected, lovely touch by providing cloths with which to wipe down sinks after use and bowls in the washing up area.
The pitches were spacious and level and the play area was great for my 7 year old. The shop was well stocked and the staff helpful. The free bus service both to the beach and the newly acquired holiday village with pool and pub was a real bonus as were the picnic benches provided on most pitches in our field.
If I have to find any bad points I guess that perhaps the recycling facilities weren't as good as on some sites we have visited and there was a little background noise from the main road (but this in no way changed our opinion of the site.
We will definitely visit again perhaps even before next summer. Many thanks to all the staff and the other campers we befriended.

It was our first visit to this site and we were quite impressed. It is a fairly new site close to the A39 (a bit noisy but you soon get used to it).
The toilet blocks were clean and well laid out but their must be some sort of problem in the ladies side as it seemed to mildly flood every day! They were never too busy but to be fair the site was not filled to capacity, even though it is the Summer Holidays.
A good play park meant our 4 year old was kept amused and came back to the tent (close by) totally pooped! The park is designed for all ages and was always busy, next to it is a field with a couple of goal posts to keep the boys happy.
As the site is quite high and within about a mile of the coast the wind does blow through the place, trees have been planted and banks have been built and these will have more effect in a couple of years time.
There is a decent shop that was reasonably priced and a cafe that serves great breakfasts. The service in the cafe was fantastic on the first day but shambolic on the second so we gave up and moved on to Bude.
The pitches for caravans and campers looked great with hardstanding next to grass but the tent pitches were badly marked and in some cases not well thought out. Each tent pitch however (not sure about the rest) had it's own picnic bench which is a great touch!
We will most definitely visit again.

We have just come back from a week's camping at this site with another family, and can highly recommend it for comfortable, clean and relaxing family camping.
We were given a site near the children's playground, where we had unobstructed views of the beautiful countryside as well as the ability to keep an eye on our children who had a wonderful time in the playground.
The main selling point to us when searching for our summer holiday was the availability of family bathrooms and the family oriented set up, while still being fairly private and quiet site. The family bathrooms were great, allowing us to bath fussy children who didn't like showers. The toilets were always very clean, and the shower cubicles were very spacious with plenty of hot water.
The minibus to Widemouth Bay or Bude was a really helpful facility, and the shop was well stocked. The breakfasts in the restaurant were delicious!
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We had a few days of good weather before severe weather warnings for galeforce winds were issued. The staff saw us battling to keep our tent erect (novice campers!), and brought their mini vans to shelter our tent. Perhaps the only slight criticism we could have is that being a relatively new site the hedgerows are still new in the field near the play area, although we would have been more protected in the next field down. They were always friendly, and seemed to go out of their way to make us feel welcome.
The local area has much to offer in both good weather and bad, and there are quite a few good pubs within easy driving distance.
All in all, a fantastic site and one we look forward to visiting again soon.

We have just come back from a week away for the second year running after staying at this site and we cannot fault it. The facilities are great adding the picnic tables to each pitch is a really good idea.
The staff are very friendly and helpful especially Donna who is a real good laugh. Thanks to all of you for making our week away brilliant. The weather helped as well. See you all again at the end of August.
