Opted to stay on this site for two weeks, most people overnight on the way South.

We stayed as the fishing (carp) was reasonable, the lake being chalky (? acidic) was relatively free of mozzies, a nice breeze providing a coolish location, reasonable toilet facilities, to be revamped this winter, with toilet paper. A restaurant, but chef does not like well doing steak, reasonable value. Bread on order.

Town has two supermarkets the 'U' can be walked to.

The owners are very pleasant and speaking good English.

The pitches are of sufficient size but about what one would expect with an ex-municipal site.

Would stay again.

A friendly welcome from Christine who offered us a lakeside pitch. These pitches are not large, but fortunately we had no immediate neighboured so we did not feel hemmed in. Restaurant was closed, if it is open don't choose the lamb!

Super you a 10 min walk or drive. Salbris only 10 min walk, and it has a few bars and shops. Just outside the site gate you have access to a walk around the lake or walk by the river, wher you might spot the otter family. Facilities were clean but not spectacular. Tried fishing for a couple of hours but didn't catch any thing.

We stayed two nights and would certainly return for a short stopover.

It was an overnight stop just off the autoroute. Access is good and it is handy for the town where there is a supermarket with fuel. The owner speaks excellent English.

The pitches varied quite a bit and none of them massive. Those around the lake could be pretty tight, especially the ones that had a sharpish drop to the water. All separated by hedges and plants.

The 'facilities' were fine, nothing special, but nothing bad either.

They have a cafe which does meals in the evening. The self-service starters were good (supermarket sourced, I suspect) but the main courses were pretty poor. My wife had the last bit of chicken which was OK and I had the lamb chops which were just awful, tough and 50% fat - I guess we are used to excellent lamb in the UK.

I would certainly use it again - but cook my own food!

Only stayed for 1 night as a stop over, facilities dated, but very clean and pleasant. Nice unrestricted hot water for showers and sinks.

Site is situated close to a large lake, also good to walk the dogs as you can do a circuit. Salbris town centre is a brief walk from the site. There is a restaurant on site (didn't use it on this occasion) but they will not do take away. Access to the site is strictly controlled so don't arrive late.

We had a pitch away from the lake as we don't fish but it seems these pitches are taken up/booked pretty quickly.

The lady owner speaks good English and is very pleasant and helpful. We would use this site again as it is on the route south.

Stayed for one night en route to the Dordogne. We didn’t book but as it was May and the weather had been poor there were a lot of empty pitches. We had a pitch next to the lake, so we had a lovely view when sitting in the caravan. As previous reviewers have said, the site is well situated near to the village which can be reached either by road or by walking round the lake first – either way it’s nice to have somewhere to walk to and stretch your legs. Super you not far from the site complete with fuel station.

The toilet/shower block was old but clean and the showers were roomy with hot water. No toilet seats, but there was toilet paper.

The only disappointment was the on site restaurant – the “serve yourself” hors d’oeuvre was fine but the main course was overcooked and not particularly good. The worst meal we encountered in France – maybe we were unlucky. Overall though, a very pleasant site and we would return again.

I think the first thing to say is that the reviews on 'ukcampsite. Co. Uk' are as genuine as you can get. On this holiday we visited three sites (Camping de Sologne being the first) which had been given good reviews and they all lived up to their billing!

We had a lake side pitch (definitely the best option if you can get one) which provided uninterrupted views across a small but serene lake. O. K there was a honking swan and some chattering ducks messing about from time to time but they all added to the charm of the place.

The toilets and showers are a little dated but very clean and efficient and although there are no seats in the loos (common in France) paper WAS provided. The site has good washing up facilities with plenty of hot water and a clothes washing machine is also available at 5 euros a go which includes powder.

When we were there the earlier long hot spell had burnt off most of the grass leaving the pitches a little dusty but not really a problem. Incidentally, despite being right on the waters edge we had no problem with mozzies which we have experienced at other lake side sites. I was not sure if the service had ceased or only operated in the in the high season but no bread delivery was available. However, a short walk around the lake on a sunny morning to a boulangerie about 500 metres away to buy my croissants and baguette was a delight rather than a problem. There is a 'Super U' store also a short walk from the site where all other essentials can be obtained. As others have said, a telephone call (even if only the day before) to book a pitch is essential. The lady proprietress speaks good English if your French is a bit dodgy.

The town of Salbris doesn't have much to offer but some of the local villages are worth a visit especially Pierrefitte-sur-Sauldre. This is a noted floral village with large displays along most of the streets and around the church. Vierzon is the nearest large town but apart from the gardens behind the Hotel de Ville and the large church which has some beautiful stained glass, it doesn't have lot to tempt you to make an early return.
