We love this site and have been for several years with the kids in our caravan. Yes it certainly seems to have been busier at some time in the past and does have a bit of a run down feel, and like some others I agree that the toilets are run down and the floors are a bit spongy. Really could do with an upgrade.
However does have a more up to date wash room with coin operated washing machine and tumble drier. EHU's and chemical disposal also.
There are a dozen or so fairly old static vans for hire and we have tried those as well. They are perfectly adequate if a little old fashioned.
However we prefer using our touring van because you can set up almost on the beach and there is nothing better than looking out of the front window in the morning over the spectacular views of Gruinard bay! Like all sites in this area it can be very windy so bring a storm strap for your awning. Also be aware that in very bad weather the site can get very waterlogged and we had a flooded awning once. So be careful where you pitch, best ask for the driest spots.
There is a burn at one end of the site which can be quite deep so need to keep an eye on kids if young. But really not a problem if you are careful.
Beach is good with sand and pebbles although storms can rip up the kelp beds and dump lots of kelp on the beach occasionally.
Fair amount to do in the area if you explore, also rock pooling, swimming, boating, wildlife (we regularly see seals, sea otters and sea eagles from our van. Fantastic). And we even collected and ate the shellfish from the beach rocks (saw many people doing this. Have eaten mussels and buckies. But don't take my word for it though. You do so at your own risk and I am not liable for and upset stomachs). Overall we just love this place and wish we could live here!

Lovely views, had pitch right next to beach, nice and peaceful. Able to access water from site for canoeing, saw seals in the water
Facilities were old but adequate, good supply of hot water and kept clean.
A site to relax on - not really within walking distance of a town, did not see any pubs but might have been in opposite direction. Able to walk along beach. Garage and local shop nearby
Site has obviously been busier at one time but would certainly return if up in area again. Within easy drive of Interewe gardens

The location of the site is stunning, we had a hook up right by the shore, and the views across Gruinard Bay were stunning. Sadly the campsite had a rather run down feel. The facilities were old fashioned. However we need have free hot showers , dish and clothes washing facilities and a hook up. Good value at £12 a night.

Level site right on the beach. Fantastic views out over the sea to the islands and distant hills.
Sadly the site was spoilt by the toilets and showers. New facilities required. Bins were overflowing for the 4 nights we stayed although the site was not busy.
Small shop with fuel nearby. Aultbea which has a good shop and hotel only a few miles away.
Nice walks along the beach and at the community woodland nearby.
I would return to this site when the facilities have improved.
Management response: We accept that our facilities are old but we keep them in good repair and clean and this is commented upon favourably by many of our visitors.

Came here for one night without a booking when the CCC site at Inverewe was full. A basic site, low-key, but had all we needed - electrics, and a fabulous view. A bit exposed. Toilet block adequate. The site runs behind a long beach with fantastic views north to the peaks. I do know someone who brought his family here for summer holidays every year, but we were passing by so I can't review what the local area has to offer. Owner is in the local Rotary Club which meets at Ullapool, so the town is in reach, with its ferry to the Outer Hebrides and the Ceilidh Club (bookshop, coffee shop, well worth a visit).
