Chesil beach caravan park is one of the best sites we have visited in a long time when it comes to static parks. The caravan was 5 star. We booked the basic, cheapest van and expected it to be just that. But it wasn't. It was spotlessly clean and not a mark or damage to the van. All vans on the park have apex roofs and double glazed. We had heating in all rooms. We stayed in blue 32 which was quite close to all facilities. We expected noise on a night and during the day with been so close. We never heard a thing. There was only one main road through the site. All the vans were off short roads, housing 10-12 vans 5-6 each side of the road, there was no access to other vans via the roads which made it peaceful.
We didn't use the facilities on site only the shop and takeaway. You can phone your orders for takeaways from your van and collect at a given time, so no waiting around. The shop was well stocked on essentials and holiday items. I bought my daily paper every morning.
When we booked the holiday, we were given a choice of locations on the site and smoking / non smoking vans. Although most seemed to be non smoking. Our booking letter said we could book in at 4pm on arrival, but we could call in from 2pm to see if our van was ready. Ours was. It took 1 minute to book in. We were given our keys, passes and also told, as we were staying for 2 weeks, we could have a change of bedlinen if needed for our second week. We had instructions how to do this. Never had this option before. Was very surprised.
The site is on the main road to portland. With fantastic views of the harbour and the island. It is about 3 miles into weymouth to the beach. There is an adsa and morrisons in weymouth. All in all chesil beach is as it says 5 star. There is also a bus service outside the site which takes you into weymouth and you can buy weekly passes from the site. There is also a park and ride service in weymouth which we used regularly when going to the beach.
We watched the house keeping staff one day cleaning the van at the side of us. They emptied every cupboard of pots and pans, plates etc and washed everyone. There were 3 staff in the van. Ive never seen a van cleaned more thoroughly. The grounds were beautiful and tidy. The groundsman went round every morning looking for litter. Well to to chesil beach and keep up the good work. We didn't have to complain about anything the whole fortnight.
