We stayed at Le Clos Cacheleux for 3 nights the pitches are enormous we also had a water tap directly on our pitch so this was handy but due to this I cannot comment on what the showers are like as we used the one in our caravan. We chose this site thinking that the sister site Val de Trie would be busier and our daughter would just want to be in the pool all the time. I am glad we did as out of the 2 this is the most beautiful site Val de Trie is where the bar cafe and pool are but it is only a short walk away. The play areas and parks are brilliant for the kids my daughter is 9 and she loved it. Would certainly recommend this site and will visit it again. This was our first time in France so we didn't really know what to expect but found the staff helpful and it was an easy enjoyable stay
A short drive away is the Valery sur somme and the Baie de Somme beautiful places well worth a visit steeped in history.
We've stayed here 2 years in a row now and can't fault it.
The pitches are enormous, washrooms clean, there is a playground and large grass area for children in the middle of the touring pitch areas and a bouncy castle & games area over by reception where the wifi point is, there is also a walk along one side of the pitches with a few donkeys, goats, sheep & cows. Staff are very helpful, even when we got our van stuck in a wet patch. Access is up a steep bank but we have never had or seen anyone having any issues.
The sister site over the road has a bar, shop and pool all available for use free of charge.
Would highly recommend both for a stopover and a longer stay in the Somme Bay.
A good site for a stopover or short stay, as said, between this and the sister site you have most things you need. In any case it's only a few miles to Abbeville where there is a supermarket in the town centre.
It's not far from the autoroute, so if you want to break your journey from Calais or Dunkerque and are heading south, this is just right if like us you don't want to drive too far. It is an ACSI site, €16 per night.
We thought it best to pitch in the area through the barrier at the top of the site wihch unusually has no trees so satellite tv signal finding is easy.
There is a hill up to the site, but it isn't a problem, other sites are worse.
Just returned from this very nice site. We spent six nights there and found the site to be very well run by nice people. We hired a fridge for the week which we placed inside the tent. It worked well and for 18 euros was good value. All facilities were spotlessly clean. It can be a little windy up at the back of the site, but it is prettier than the sister site down the hill. That site has a swimming pool and bar so between the two sites you have all that you need. Will certainly return.
As you drive into the site you wonder what on earth you are coming too, but when you reach reception it improves. As already mentioned, this site is a sister site of one 50 meters down the road. It is relevantly new. We stayed here for a week. Whilst we were there the new toilet block was opened at the top part of site (above reception) giving the option to use both when one is full. Each pitch is massive and has its own water tap so if you have a mains water adaptor for the aqua-roll, then don't forget to take it with you. We did have a meal at the sister site but would be classed as 'junk food', Beer was Ok. I would visit this site again even if it was for a short overnight stop. English is well spoken, but don't be shy in practising your French with all the staff, they will offer help when you make a mistake. There are play areas for children, but the grass was too long really for any to play
Good location for o/night situated close to jct 2 A 28, just after peage southbound Baie de Somme. Could be difficult to spot signs to site, you have to follow signs for sister site Val de Trie next door. Pitches are generally enormous, but it is on a hill and so a lot have some slope, some a lot of slope.
There are a lot of pitches so usually there will be some choice, though some are taken with seasonal pitches. General feeling was that this is the au naturel site, and Val de Trie the commercial site.
That said it is like being on your own family estate, very spacious, with lovely mature trees all around. Pitches have hedge dividers which seem not to be cut regular, again giving a natural feel about the place. A good place if you like bird watching, or rabbit spotting,
One toilet block clean and well maintained. Ratio of toilets/ showers to pitches would suggest things could be crowded if the site got full, although somehow you think it would n't ever be madly busy.
Bread and croissants can be ordered daily, and is delivered to your unit, though left on a table so get there before the sprrows.
Main shops are Abbeville 5. 5 miles, St Valery on the coast is about10 miles.
Baie de Somme is massive with things to do, too much to mention, but reception on the site gave the most comprehensive tourist guide ever encountered.
In summary if you like the rural idyll, this is definitely for you, but be prepared to travel a bit for services or things to do.
The sister site Val de Trie which does offer a small covered pool and bar is the exact opposite, with small pitches under trees, and whilst we did enjoy the pool when it was quiet, I suspect this would get very noisy indeed during French holiday periods.
