Join us for Tipi camping in the Lake District . Camping in a Tipi is a truly unique way to add to your experience of this magnificent National Park. When the sunshine filters through the canvas or the candlelight flickers across the tall majestic poles supporting this traditional dwelling you can enjoy a truly magical experience. Children and adults will love exploring the surrounding woodland and lakeland area. Our new site is Low Wray National Trust Campsite, close to Ambleside and to the North of Lake Windermere. Within view of the historic and magnificent Low Wray Castle. The tipis come fully equipped to make your tipi stay as simple and comfortable as possible.
Watch the sun rise over England's largest lake and enjoy the magnificent views across the water to Wansfell Pike and The Fairfield Horseshoe.
Situated on the western shore of Windermere, Low Wray is the perfect base for a whole range of outdoor activities. There are opportunities for gentle walks and great off-road biking from the campsite. The quiet country lanes will also prove attractive to cycle tourers. Low Wray is an ideal base for lovers of watersports including windsurfers, canoeists and dinghy sailors, with on-site access for launching. Please note however that there is no access for powered craft.
Nearby Attractions
Activities in the area: There are two great Lakeland pubs within a two mile radius of the site The Outgate Inn (www.outgateinn.co.uk) and The Drunken Duck Inn (www.drunkenduckinn.co.uk) providing excellent pub food. Ambleside market town is just a few minutes drive away, and here you will find a host of true Lakeland shops and also two small supermarkets , banks and a petrol station. In the nearby picturesque village of Hawkshead there are also many shops including a chemist and a post office. Both Beatrix Potters home Hill Top and the Beatrix Potter Gallery (both NT) are also a short drive or an excellent walk away. Low Wray is close to all central Lakes attractions including several NT Houses and Gardens.
