The Park is conveniently situated just off the Heads of the Valleys road at the foot of the Clydach Gorge. It is located one mile from the village of Gilwern and 4 miles from the market town of Abergavenny and is within the boundaries of the Brecon Beacons National Park.
The site is currently being redeveloped into a 20 caravan pitch touring site all with electric hook-ups (10amp). There will be 10 hard standings and the new amenities block will contain 2 family shower rooms along with additional showers and toilets. Some tenting will also be available.
It is planned to open at Easter 2010
The Clydach Gorge is a fascinating mixture of beautiful countryside amongst which can be found relics of the industrial past. The remains of the Clydach Ironworks, less than half a mile from the Park, was built in 1793 and was in production for around 65 years. In 1841 it employed over 1350 people. The wooded valley is mainly beech trees and has been declared a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Many caves can be found along the gorge and the area has become a favourite spot for cavers of all abilities. The area is a walkers paradise with the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons within easy reach. Easier walking can be enjoyed along the towpath of the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal.Cycling and mountain biking are also popular in the area. Bike hire can be arranged. The area offers golfers 2 courses in Abergavenny and several others within half an hours drive including the Celtic Manor where the 2010 Ryder Cup will be held.
