I got the Phad X3 because I wanted a sturdy tent for the winter, so I could extend the camping season (my other tent is huge!). I wanted one with a good sized porch so that if wet and windy there was a sheltered spot for cooking.

I have erected this tent on my own on many occasions and have had no trouble what so ever. It goes up as one and the poles are colour coded so it is pretty self explanatory when it comes to putting it up. I would recommend replacing the pegs however, I never used mine but they didn't seem very durable.

It easily holds a double airbed which it my opinion is essential! There is room left for a bag or two when sleeping two rather than three people. It is very cosy but has plenty of vents to help prevent condensation.

Over all this is a very easy tent to erect and due to it's design makes for a sturdy tent in all weathers. I can always get it packed neatly back in the bag and it doesn't take long to dry in the sunshine because of the colour. I love it!

What an excellent tent, practical and easy to put up and take down(even after a few beers). It only has 3 colour coded poles that match the sleeves to put them in.

I would only use it as a 2 man as 3 would be very cosy, I always use the rule of thumb, decide how many people are to sleep in it then add 1 or 2 to it and that's the size of tent you need.

The tent has been used in some bad weather, last year we only had the 4 corner guide ropes in, when we had heavy rain and gale winds and the tent took it very well. I would recommend to use different pegs to the ones you get unless your a fair weather camper.

If your looking for a sturdy tent for 2 people that rolls up to the size of a sleeping bag and doesn't weigh much more than, then this is the one for you.

What a corking little mountain tent. We took it to Wales in a windy May 2009 and it was blasted by a easterly all night and didn't budge or bend. I agree with previous posts re the tent pegs, get some better ones! The tent is easy to pitch and the whole thing can be up in minutes. Colour coded poles adding to the simplicity. Just remember to push the blunt end through not the stud end!

Inside the tent is well made and brilliantly ventilated, having been used to waking up with a damp inner tent due to condensation, I was surprised to find the little Coleman was dry as a bone. I too bought the Phad X3 as a two person tent. It would be tight with three, but you could do it if everyone was slim! Love the dual sided porch and the zip off ground sheet in the porch is a fab idea. The 5000 groundsheet feels insufficient but it works a treat. I always tend to put down a twin under ground sheet to protect the tent anyway.

Love the tent - best buy in ages.

Keep all cycling gear in porch, sit up and read inside, plenty of room for 2, probably 3 at a squeeze - oh what fun that would be - great tent, light enough for 2 to carry between them on bikes. About 3.8k without case.

Doors on both sides make for easy exits without climbing over the other person, pockets insides to store all valuables, up in minutes, very waterproof as it poured down all one night.

Also very windproof - camped on North Yorks Moors in a real gale, others struggled with their tents, we didn't.

Brilliant tent - value for money. I've used it all over the country including storms on the Isle of Skye which it coped with no problem when lots of others were packing up in the middle of the night. Nice and light - easy to put up and take down quickly and packs to the size of a sleeping bag. Recommended!

I've had a fair few tents in my time, with my last one being a North Face Tadpole. A great tent, with better poles and pegs than the Phad X3, but condensation on the exit door was terrible. This tent though, especially for the money is far superior. I have to say its amazingly stable in high wind and so well designed with the way you Velcro supports to open up the vents on 2 sides and front of the outer fly. You also have the variflow vents on the inner at low level and the inner top part of the door has another mesh vent that can be zipped open for even more ventilation. Another nice touch is the way the inner tents door is stored in its own pocket. The door does not drape on the floor or needs to be tied down. The storage for door also has a small pocket on it for mobile phone. 2 other larger pockets on either side are included too.

Some parts of the outer are reflective and the yellow guys ropes make walking around a lot safer at night. The 2 outer doors open perfectly every time for entrance into the porch. The porch also has its own zipped drop down vent, but does have any mesh. The zip out porch ground sheet is a really nice feature, so in the event that it gets really dirty, you can take it off and wash it, as it dries very quickly.

Just couple of negatives. The poles could have done with being slightly stronger and the groundsheet thicker. As others have said, the peg design is not the best, but I used then ones from my North Face Tadpole. I do wish Coleman would have made a Footprint for this tent too.

All being said, this is a brilliant tent and well worth the money.

Excellent tent. We use our Phad 3 for just 2 people, which gives us lots of space for us and our bags. It would be a bit cramped for 3 people for more than one or two nights though!

The porch area is large for a tent of this size. I agree with other reviewers that the inner could have done with being about 20 cm longer, but if you put it up really carefully, and make sure to tighten all the straps at the corners of the inner, you will get the maximum length out of it. I'm 5'9' and have only had slightly wet feet / end of sleeping bag once or twice when I've been on a real slope and have slid down into the end of the tent.

This tent is really solid even in strong wind - I use it in winter on Dartmoor. It is very easy to put up with 2+ people, and also possible to erect quickly on your own in strong wind. The pegs may look a bit flimsy, but they have never failed me yet.

The tent goes up outer first, which is useful for keeping the inner tent dry in bad weather. Ventilation is good too.

All in all a great tent.

Great little tent - bought it from GO for eighty odd quid, a real bargain. Goes up in five mins, really well thought-out design, very stable in high winds & blizzards, 100% waterproof so far, plenty of room inside. Only problem is the flysheet could extend a little further to give better protection to porch area - when we woke after blizzard in the above photo we had a snowdrift in the porch. Covering our kit.

Our own fault, and pitched with the porch end facing away from the wind (which is what we do now) it wouldn't have happened. Would definitely buy Coleman again on the strength of this tent.

Bought for its light weight (for motorbike use) this is now our preferred tent for all use - we are going to get rid of our bigger Sunncamp and smaller Quechua.

Very easy to put up and get down(in fact easier with one person than two) - I agree with other reviewer that the 3-man is good size for 2, especially when using double airbed.

This is a very easy tent to pitch. You just thread through the poles, of which there are 3. It has a fully sewn in groundsheet and the bedroom area is attached via toggles. You then peg it down. It has a fairly large porch area for storing your gear. It sleeps 2 people comfortably, but I think 3 would be a bit cramped. The sides fully unzip and the front partially unzips for ventilation and there are also 3 vents on the roof area with fly screens. We used it in France for a few days but there was no rain so I can't say how it wll be when wet. All in all a comfortable easy to pitch tent which I could definitely recommend.
