After much research we chose the Gelert Horizon 8 as our first tent. We are a family of 5 and the tent offers fantastic space. We had a trial pitch in our back garden and found it easy to put up and even managed to get it back into the bag when we took it down. We camped for the first time 29/30 May and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Despite heavy rain during the first night we all slept soundly and the tent weathered the storm. Three of us sleep in the large bedroom and two in one of the small bedrooms (which we pack away during the day to expand the living space more and enable the rear door to be opened to air the tent), the other room is used for storage. Really pleased with our purchase and can't wait to go on our next trip.

Just the job for family camping from 2 - 6 comfortably. It's not too heavy or complicated even for grandmother and grand-daughter camping alone, who like good looks, roomy but light and cosy living space plus the facility of using a spare inner tent as a walk-in wardrobe. We prefer to have a choice of entrance to allow for inclement weather and we like to give ourselves a gazebo-like facility with the extended sides during the good weather.

We are a family of 5 and need lots of space. This tent has bags of room even with all the bedrooms up. You can stand up everywhere, even in the bedrooms, which gives a very spacious feel when you are in there. This tent is very easy to put up and takes very little time (about 20 minutes between 2 of us) which is great when the kids just want to get it up and move in. It has lots of pockets in each room to keep books and torches safe and the added bonus of the hanging pockets in the main living area is great for storing all your little items that you want to keep to hand. The sewn in groundsheet makes it less drafty and more waterproof (Our old Vango tent did not have and it was very drafty and rained in very often). The only advice I would give is to make sure the little flaps at the bottom of the doors are pushed outside otherwise the rain does come in off the door (I know because it happened on our first night). All in all, this tent is fantastic and we are looking forward to our next trip at the weekend.

We went for our first camping weekend last weekend with this tent. We took our seasoned parents with us who were very impressed with the tent. My husband is 6ft 5in and the headroom was the major factor in picking the tent in the first place. It really functions well and is very flexible. We tried the kids in their own inner tent the first night but that didn't last long. So we all very comfortably fitted in the main inner tent. Double air bed and 2 singles on either side cosy and meant they slept. Using one inner tent made a brilliant area for the cooker and coolbox etc which could be blocked off to keep kids out. We loved it and it did rain and blow and sunshine. Being able to open up all the doors provides brilliant ventilation aswell as a window in the inner tent. The water proofing rate of this tent is very high for the price we paid. My only criticism is it could have let in more light.
It went up in around 40 mins (were novices and it was very easy) and I took the tent down myself without hubby. All in all a brilliant versatile family tent.Definitely got me bitten by the bug even my pampered husband enjoyed it.

We used our brand new Horizon 8 last week. We chose this tent because it looked the part and it gave us the space we need. We had camped previously in an average 4 man tent, but this was luxury by comparison. It was erected within 30 mins and fully pegged out and everything inside within the hour. Very easy to erect and take down by 2 novice campers.
Lots of space inside for furniture, we actually used one of the bedrooms as a store room and dressing room.
The tent seemed very airy and bright. The weather was fantastic, but it did pour down during one night, and we never even noticed. Obviously well waterproofed.
The door closure is a bit fiddly, I would have preferred a complete zip closure, but I'm nit picking! The tent is first class and I would highly recommend it to anybody considering buying this tent.

Just spent a week in some of the worst weather known to man in North Wales in our new Horizon 8. Galeforce winds and driving rain, and this tent was fantastic. Not a drop of water leaked in and was draft free. Plenty of ventilation if required, as there are 3 openings in the tent. Easy to erect and dismantle. Great space and excellent bedroom options. We received a free canopy with our tent, and I would advice others to invest in this piece of equipment, as it enabled us to keep cooking whatever the weather could throw at us. All in all a great tent for anyone starting out camping or for the seasoned camper.

This is our second tent. We originally had a 6 (allegedly) man tent but found it constrictive for our family (2 adults, two teenage girls and a 9 year old son). I bought this tent from Woolworths for £90 as it was end of line, probably the best £90 I've ever spent.
It was easy to put up, in both torrential rain and high wind, both of which we experienced on our first outing. The advantages of putting the outer up first were clear early on. The three pods were easy to put up, and very flexible, there are two 2 man pods (perfect for our 2 girls and son) and a large pod for 4 or can be split into two 2man (pic above makes it clear!). We used all pods, but will probably use just 2 in future for more storage.
The main room is great, we had a table and 5 chairs up all the time (the weather was dire) and it didn't feel cramped.
The side doors are a bit of a pain when it's raining, so we've now bought the additional canopy for the side.
All in all for our first proper camping trip as a family it was great, and the kids are more than happy to go again. It was excellent in the rain, although as we put it up in the rain some water did get in through the doors as we were erecting (our fault I suspect), and was also fine in the 50 mph wind we had. If it can stand that, I'm sure it'll stand anything.
In closing, would I recommend? Yes, wholeheartedly, I would even say I'd happily have paid the full price for it.

I am so impressed. We have just returned from our first outing with our Gelert Horizon 8 which I bought from Ebay for the bargain price of £105. The lady which I bought it off said she had used it once but it looked brand new to me. I also bought it with the sun canopy which is absolutely fab and I would highly recommend it.
Firstly we found it very easy to erect as all pole holes and other holes are all colour coordinated so it's impossible to go wrong. There was more than enough space for my family which is 2 adults and 3 children. It was warm and very wind proof. Usually when we go camping I have tent envy of others but this time people were checking out my tent.
I also bought the tent carpet to match my tent and can honestly say it's one of the best accessories that I have bought to date, the difference under foot was massive and everyone in my party was admiring that too.Lol

This tent is great. We have just returned from our first holiday of the year and it has been tested in all kinds of weather. We erected it is hot sunny weather but during the week we encountered strong winds and heavy rain but this tent withstood it all.
We used three bedrooms as a family of 5, with the larger one used for dressing and storage too. My son had a room to himself with oodles of space and my other 2 kids shared a room with 2 camp beds and still had space to dress.
The living area space is amazing even holding 9 of us around 2 large tables for our traditional card night.
We bought the porch which was great for cooking, storing the shoes outside the SIG and we even set up an indoor washing line. Also the carpet was a godsend - you really notice a big difference, it's well worth the extra money.
We had no problems with erecting or packing away this tent. You do need at least two people to do it effectively but overall a great buy for us. Highly recommended.

Just has first camping weekend in our new Horizon 8 and it was fabulous in every way. The bedrooms were all large enough for our campbeds and there was lots of room in the living area. I will be buying the canopy/porch but we did survive no probs without it. The SIG is brilliant. In one weekend we had sunshine and heavy downpours but this tent stood the test while all around us flooded. Great.
