I bought this tent for cycle touring because at 2.75kg it's a good kilogram lighter than most other tents in it's class. (without having to pay out a three figure sum on a ultra light hikers tent). I use it as a single birth, with plenty of room for all my gear. I think if you did use it as a 2 birth - you would have to be pretty good friends. Over all I'm very please to get a tent of this quality for under £30

I finally abandoned my trusty (but very cheap) ProAction single-skin tent at Glade Festival in 2007. It had stayed completely watertight (with regular w/p spraying) through two separate downpours, but after the 24-hour deluge at Glade I had collected a very small puddle of water in the bottom corner, so I decided it was time to upgrade to a real tent.

The 2000mmHH Vango Alpha 200 looked like a much better proposition all round and at a good price too.

Compared to the ProAction tent this seems like a luxury home! The build and material quality and stitching are excellent.

It took about 2 mins to put the flysheet up and 10 mins to fully erect. I had the instructions out, but didn't need them. If you've put up a dome tent before then this is second nature.

It was just about big enough for two grown men sleeping on camp mats (I'm 6'3' and skinny, my friend is 5'10' and well-built), our rucksacks fit snugly into the porch (not what I would call 'large'!), and it's very very light so perfect for hikers needing a quick overnight shelter, and a third of the price of 'adventure' tents.

Thankfully, it weathered a 12 hour downpour on the first night. We stayed totally dry.

My only possible criticism, as stated in another review, is that the vents aren't especially big, if you're camped in a sheltered spot and it's raining (i.E. The skin is kept cool), you will certainly steam up inside overnight. The windows were condensated. However, it had dried out in under ten mins once we opened the front flap.

Being a 1st-time camper, bought this £50 Vango 200 tent set (2 sleeping bags and 2 mats included) online. I did find it quite easy to install esp since I didn't have to read the instructions - just looked at the drawn structure and that's it. V windy condition at the time of pitching and after but found the tent able to withstand it nonetheless (if not for one sewn part that snagged due to the strong wind). With the overnight rain - the warm condition inside the tent found the 3 air vents still wanting, with moisture forming on the 2 plastic windows. Still a fun and great-value-for-money tent to buy - really made our 1st camping experience enjoyable!

Other half used one of these for her D of E Gold expedition. Very lightweight and faultless quality.

Just the ticket when you need a quick to erect, reliable shelter from the elements.

Spot on Vango, well done.

A cracking tent. It cost a lot more than £30 when I bought mine (1993) but it's lasted me ages and has always kept me bone dry.

Easy to pitch and very light.

As with most synthetic fly sheets it is prone to condensation given the right (wrong) conditions. However, given a slight breeze and good positioning this is no problem at all.

I bought this tent for V festival last year.

The package is really small and easy to carry. It's light enough for a backpacker and the tent easily folds up back into the bag.

It only takes a few minutes to put up considering that it is a such a small tent and there's only three poles to put in. The flysheet has many fixing points which mean it wasn't flapping about on windy nights.

The front porch is a real bonus considering its such a small tent and it's even got little blinds which can be rolled up. Something I wasn't expecting for a small and reasonably cheap tent.

The only downside to this tent is that it's quite narrow for what is said to be a two person tent. There's plenty of room for one person to sleep comfortably but if you need to have your gear next to you (like I did) there isn't much room for a self inflating mat, or for getting dressed/undressed.

Overall I'm really pleased with this tent and I would definitely recommend it to a festival goer or backpacker. The only reason it gets 8 stars instead of 10 is due to the restricted width. Other than that, it really is a worthwhile purchase.

I bought the Vango Alpha 200 for solo camping, that's it. The tent is pretty good all things considered, except in one respect - this is not suitable for two and is pretty tight for one plus gear! If you're back packing and moving on every day this will be great because of its pack size and weight. If you're planning to spend time in this tent other than sleeping it's too small and head height is a problem. Porch storage area is adequate. Have used this tent in heavy rain and stayed perfectly dry, not a drip in sight. If you can get this for less than £30 you've got a great buy!

I bought this tent after owning a single skin one from a Superstore. Immediately the quality stands out and the single skin tent was shown to be inadequate when water came in through roof vents, and the condensation was bad bad, didn't seem to matter to much abroad.

This tent gave me comfortable nights abroad and at home.

I have used it in Spain, Italy, Wales. It was comfortable, in Spain I kept the front door open to create a breeze and could have the mosquito net open or closed. In Wales the compactness kept me snug.

The things I don't like are its a bit narrow, and the length of the inner means I sleep diagonally so my head is not touching canvas.

The things I like are, lots of pockets, the porch and windows so you can see whats going on outside. Its cheap and not too heavy, particularly for flights. I like the colour, and its watertight. Plus if you peg the lines out I reckon it'll withstand anything. Its definitely a one man tent, although will fit two but one man with comfort.

I was able to leave a large suitcase in the porch when I left the tent for a few days.

After having been on several trips I pitched it in the garden and looked later - one of the poles in the porch had broken. I got a replacement piece, but the poles are not under warranty. Not had a problem since.

I love this tent and want to go wild camping with it, little cooker in the porch etc.

Smashing wee lightweight ONE MAN tent.

Fits in a pannier on my motorcycle.

Couple of minutes to put up/take down.

Comfy and dry.

As mentioned by others, one of the poles split first time out (solved with black electricians tape)

Other than that, it's perfect for 1 person to just take off and chill out for a couple of nights.

I purchased one of these for a weekend away on my motorcycle pretty easy to set up but lacked the space I needed for me and my gear I found the tent slightly cramped and there was a lot of moisture on the inside but its windproof and warm and light for a hiker looking for a quick pitch its ideal I would not advise you to buy this if you intend to share :) I got myself a High Gear electron 3 - 3man tent which is so much better :)
