We just got Vango Orchy 600 I love its design and the grape and dove colour. We had a few fellow campers come over and say it was a nice tent and unusual colour. The living area is big enough for 4 as is the bedroom we fitted a queen size double airbed in for wife and youngest girl and a triple height single bed for me me with enough room to walk in between them. My only gripe is why is there no ehu entrance. Me and the wife pitched it quite quickly and it fits easily into the bag when packing away , the sky view windows are a nice touch I cant praise it enough

I am so happy with this tent, it withstood some hefty gales and rain when camping in North Wales last weekend - and this was despite incorrectly angled guy ropes at the front. We realised this when we got home and watched the instruction dvd! Ha ha.
This is such a practical and cosy tent in bad weather. I am 5'9' tall, my other half is over 6' and we had plenty of headroom in the dome area - lots of space and it is just perfect in the versatility of its lounge area with big windows and two main doors. Luckily we did not need to purchase king poles to make an entrance canopy - they fitted neatly onto the poles of the windbreak we took with us - a clever idea from my partner.
I love the windows in the roof of the lounge area - it makes the tent cheerful and bright even in overcast weather. We have the laurel and sage colour tent and it is a nice colour combination to 'live with.' I tend to find blue tents quite gloomy.
This tent is so well designed. The mesh vents and the drop-down ground sheet at the door entrances work really well. The guy rope velcro holders are a neat idea.
We had no water seepage despite continual rain Saturday morning, Saturday night and into Sunday and it inspired a lot of confidence. I can't wait to go camping again - weekend after next!

We got the Orchy 600 for short weekend trips rather than taking our Diablo 600XP as its much quicker to pitch (20 mins max inc footprint) and its an outer 1st. However having now been away a few times in the Orchy we would rather now take it over the Diablo ! Its a cracking tent with a massive bedroom pod, in fact the largest single pod unit we have found. The living area is more than big enough and the double doors and vent pannel will be great in the warmer evenings. SIG throughout and the integral bedroom pod makes pitching a breeze. A very well thought out tent with great head room and bags of space. The only point worth making is to watch the Vango DVD or read the instructions with regards to the front door guylines, they must peg out forward to tighten the door panel. Some people have complained about this but pitch it right and its perfect.

The perfect all round tent.
1. Largest connected bedroom space of any tent on the market. 270cm x 300cm true size. Big enough to fit 2 JRC specialist bedchairs and a double airbed at a push. If there's only 2 people camping then this is absolute luxury.
2. Porch has connected ground sheet that has a lip across the doorway (2009 model) to stop rain/puddle ingress.
3. Very light inside porch due to 2 ceiling windows, 2 windows flanking the front door way and a window opposite the side entrance.
4. Extreme protection against condensation and rain. Bedroom is fixed to the groundsheet leaving a fixed and ample space between the bedroom inner tent and the flysheet for air to circulate and prevent condensation and rain ingress.
5. Easy pitching. (witnessed a video showing one person erecting in around 5 minutes). I pitched with one other person for the first time in torrential rain and took around 20 minutes, including guy ropes.
6.Cheap. £169 cheapest on internet (2009 model). Take evidence of this to a large retailers that insists that you 'travel outside' and that brings the price down another 10% to £152.10, not bad eh?
7.Flexible design. Front and side door options. Front door can be extended with extra poles (not included) due to eyelets. Side door can be zipped down to its mesh fly protection layer for cooking near it.
8.Relatively small and light pack size. Smaller and lighter that outwell Oklahoma, although almost twice the size! Easy to pack into car. Easy to roll up into carry case. Sumatra has same dimensions but is twice the weight because of polycotton and thicker ground sheet. Therefore if weight is an issue, get the Orchy 600, and if you don't want to look after polycotton, get the Orchy 600.
9. Stable in wind, despite what other people have said. I've recently spent 3 nights in some of the worst British weather and it didn't budge in the wind and the poles are rock solid.
10. Massive porch space. 3x3 metres. Same area as Outwell Oklahoma day tent. Fits large cooking table (with cooker, calor gas bottle etc), all your gear, and room for 4 people to eat in luxury. Plus, I'm over 6 foot and I can easily stand up with boots on and walk around.
In summary.
If you want to easily fit a tent into your car and then easily pitch it and have masses of room to sleep, eat and chill out then buy this tent (following the above directions to save money of course) and ENJOY!

Came back to camping after a number of years and looked for a spacious reasonably priced tent. Due to being 6'5' headroom is a big issue.
Have used it twice both times involved wet and windy weather. The only issues with it is that pitching in a strong breeze is tricky even for two people. The large nature of the tent and high dome can act like a sail/kite. Packs away pretty easily, is light to carry and doesn't take up too much space in the car.
That said it has performed brilliantly and echo the positive comments of the other reviews. A perfect tent for two adults and two kids.

We have the Vango Orchy 2009 in sage and laurel. This is our first tent.
I am very impressed with this tent. It was very easy to put up and take down. The bedroom was very large and fit a double airbed and 2 kampa junior beds plus a kampa khazi and other bits and bobs with room to move around. It was important for our family to be in 1 room together as we have a 3 year old and a 12 week old baby.
The living space was great, plenty of head height for us and room for a storage unit and table and chairs plus a pushchair and still space for our boy to play with his trains (very important LOL!).
The structure was sturdy and we had no problems with condensation or leaks. We also have the vango side extension which I'll review separately.
Can't wait to use it again in a few weeks.

Just had our 1st trip in our new (bought from ebay but never pitched) orchy 600. We have several (uh hum) tents ranging from 2 man to 8+ but I have to say that so far the Orchy ticks all the right boxes, large enough (2xadults & 2xteenagers) to be comfortable but small enough & quick enough to erect. Love the skylights & the mesh front door which @ Easter gave enough draught proofing whilst still being able to enjoy the views . Very easy tent to erect - 20mins total 1st time. Missing cooking area - although I don't like cooking in any tent whether sig or not . Can't wait for a longer trip

This is a cracking family tent, we bought it in June 2009, which was our very first camping trip ever. We had a very good weekend at Nenllys campsite in Towyn
On the Saturday we had very strong wind and we thought we would take off, none of us slept all night. When we got up the next morning there were about 20 tents in the skip, but the vango orchy 600 was still standing. Easy to put up, loads of room for me my wife and our 2 boys age 9 and 10. I would recommend this tent to my family and friends it is that good, and at a very good price,
Comes with a dvd so its no problems putting it up,
The side and front doors both have a fly door, so you can have the main door open but no flies can get in. It has a good size window on the side of the tent and 1 in the roof.

Love this tent, easy to pitch and strike, massive living area and loads of natural light if you want it and none when you don't.
Used it a few times now, getting it upright is remarkably quick (useful in bad weather), although there are a good few guy lines and additional pegs to peg out for a really strong pitch.
Bedroom is fairly cosy with our airbeds in (1x double, 2x single) but that means it's lovely and cosy at night!
Living area is much more spacious and as it's where you spent more of your time camping I reckon the balance is spot on. We don't travel light (camp kitchen, stove, cooler, tables & chairs) but don't have any problem getting our stuff in when the weather won't play ball.
My top tip is to invest in the Vango groundsheet to go under the tent. Not only will it keep the sewn-in groundsheet dry and away from sharp things, it also functions as a simple template of how much space on the ground your tent will take up.
Happy camping!

This is the first tent I have ever owned and it is fantastic. We bought this tent because of the excellent height of the living area and space it provides. Having never owned a tent before, pitching was a breeze and only took us around 30 mins to put up. It provides plenty of light, lots of space. I really can't fault it. I think we should get lots of use as the quality seems very high too.
