We bought this tent from millets in a half price sale. At present we are somewhat camping virgins! We camped at flamingoland and although this tent is an eight berth and approximately 23ft long we had it set up in no time at all. The fibreglass poles have curved connectors which was a godsend when bending the poles to fit the tent. It took two of us half an hour to erect and most of this was securing the guy ropes as there are approximately twenty of them-that said -when the wind blew the tent never budged. It has a four berth bedroom either end that can be split into two rooms-each would comfortably take two double airbeds, and a riser groundsheet that was excellent at keeping out bugs and draughts.the living area is spacious-around 10ft by 6ft and headheight was around six foot so enough room for all. It rained constantly(heavily) one night we were there and there was not a drop got through this tent.we were very impressed and will be using it frequently in the future.it is also really easy to take down and packs easily into the oversized bag provided.we have no complaints at all about this tent and would highly recommend it to anyone.a 10 out of 10 from us.

Paid very little money for a lot of tent (£130)
Its water proof(one bad night of strong winds and heavy rain)
Easyish to put up,I managed on my own
And we (6) managed to sleep, eat and stay dry for a week
The only down side is the main ground sheet is not sown in!
Overall good value for money it did what it said it would do (Be a tent)

We are still having fun in our Verona. It as been the bast thing we bought in 2008! This year we have camped from N.Yorkshire to The Cotswolds, we have travelled far and the tent as got better and better. We have had tons of rain and not one leak! it has stood its ground with the wind and survived with only 1 splintered pole! not bad !
We have this year enjoyed this tent with our 3 children, we have cooked and slept, ate and ate some more. We are sad to have packed it away now ready for next year. A tent that in my eyes as done what a tent is meant to do!
Looking forward to next year and planning lots of weekends away!

On first use, and in very tranquil weather we loved our Vango. Pitching was straight forward [2 persons needed for ease]. It housed 2 adults, 2 young children & a medium sized dog with plenty of room to spare.
The standing room within the living area is great. Lots of door options [3 in total] and it looks good too.
We got ours for £160, from Blacks. It would probably be overpriced at it's full RRP of £350.
Possibly a 'stitched in' ground sheet would help. I think the new version [think it's called the Tigris?] of this tent looks like it has one.

We bought this tent from Blacks in their sale for £169 to take the family on their first camping trip. The tent is easy to set-up taking about 45 minutes from scratch. The design means the tent is very stable and does not move much in the wind. There are 4 bedrooms and a large living area (the middle two of the four sections) and the only difficulty we had was working out how the groundsheet fitted in the living area. We first used it in 2009 in the Peak District during their wettest summer and it did not let us down. We used the tent a further two times before passing on to my sister in law who has used it as well without event.
One not of caution - we bought a porch awning for a later model and this was not a good fit due to slight design changes!

I was concerned when I read the above comments but our tent was perfect in the gales this August - it was so sturdy that I managed to sleep through the thunder storm from lack of worry. It is a great size and having the two compartments means that we can keep everything out of the way so that the middle section provides a great living area during inclement weather. I agree about the lack of an all in one groundsheet although I have to say that we did not experience pools of water even during the two torrential downpours. Before we went on holiday I wanted to upgrade to the all in one groundsheet but I am pleased that we saved our money and stuck with it as it kept us nice and dry.

Myself, my partner and our three children have used this tent for a weeks holiday immediately after purchase. The first thing we noticed was that the DVD accompanying this tent showed us how to erect a number of tents but not this one!
The Verona is a nice large tent ideal for family use. Following the colour coded pole sleeve system, it is fairly straight forward to erect and take down and is very spacious inside. It is a heavy tent to carry around but at least it is easy to pack into the bag supplied.
In high wind the tent was not as stable as I thought it would be. One splintered pole was a casualty of the weather but the tent never leaked a drop of water at any time despite heavy and persistent rain. During such a downpour an internal sewn in ground sheet would have been beneficial, but unfortunately this tent does not have one. Instead you lay out the supplied sheet and fix it when the tent is up.
As a fair weather tent this was everything we wanted-dry, good all round headroom, competitively priced (we got this in a half price sale), practical and roomy. However I would not relish camping in this tent in blustery conditions again.
Overall then this Vango effort is well above average although a little too flimsy to be perfect.

I purchased this tent 2 days ago and haven't managed to use it 'in the field' yet but given that Millets are currently selling them off at less than £150 I thought there may be some interest in first impressions.
I had previously ordered a tent via a popular internet supplier who failed to deliver (no stock for items they are still offering for sale!) By complete coincidence I popped in to my local Millets looking for rainwear for my kids and found the Vango Verona 8DLX. I hadn't read any reviews at the time so it was an impulse purchase based on the price and brand (I did all my Duke of Edinburgh's expeditions in Vango Force10's so I have a soft spot for Vango). This tent is specific to Millets and their RRP of £349.99 is heavily overstated . I suspect that they've never actually sold any at this price however I'm still pleased with the sub £150 price I paid.
Having got home with the tent I eagerly came to this site to check if there were any reviews and was a little perturbed by what I read. However, having put the tent up in the garden yesterday I'm really happy with my purchase again.
On unpacking the tent from its bag my immediate concerns over quality were dispelled. The fly sheet was more substantial than I had expected and I had none of the reported problems with the poles (sure if you start levering them around from one end sections at the other end may uncouple but the poles must be about 12 feet long and I'd rather they uncoupled rather than snapped). I had no problems with poles becoming uncoupled as I slid them into the sleeves on the fly.
My only real quibble with the tent is that the assembly instructions were poor. As Jeanette67 points out, although the tent comes with a DVD from Vango, there are no instructions for the Verona on it and the closest tent from the standard Vango range (the Albany 800) has a sewn in ground sheet. The instructions for the Verona are sewn into the carry bag as 3 A4 size pages, two of which are generic and the 3rd of which is a very high level bulleted list of steps to take. Step by step diagrams and a little more detail would have helped . E.G. It took me a couple of minutes to work out that the colour-coded poles system meant matching the 'colour' of the central pole to a tiny tag on each section of the fly sheet (it should be called the monochrome pole system because there are no colours - 4 of the poles have a grey central section and 1 is black - I spent ages looking for some form of individual coloured marking on each pole/sleeve - doh!).
Still, as a tent erecting newbie I managed to assemble the tent (all 22 feet of it!) entirely by myself in less than an hour. If I'd bothered to watch the DVD for the Albany I would have saved about 10 minutes struggling with pulling the tent out to its full length (peg one end first - doh!). I know it's common sense but I was trying to follow the instructions whilst grappling with the tent on my own.
The other time consuming bit was working out the orientation for the internal ground sheet. I was under the impression that it's meant to form a bathtub shape but that's only along the 2 edges by the doors. The edges by the sleeping rooms remain flat and just tuck under the groundsheets for these rooms. Unfortunately this offers an easier opportunity for creepy crawly things to enter the living area . But hey, this is camping we're talking about!
Once I had the tent up I then spent another 10 minutes discovering lots of other features that weren't immediately obvious due to the lack of supplied documentation. There are a surprising number of door/window permutations (hidden zips and velcro everywhere!). For example, just as I was about to take the tent down I found that there's an option to remove one of the bedrooms and use the end of the tent as a very large door/porch (in addition to the two side doors).
Taking quality overall, I guess it depends what your intentions for the tent's use are. I'm just after something for the odd fair weekend rather than a week/fortnight family holiday that we'd endure 'come hell or high water'. The Verona looks like it'll more than meet the challenges I'll be setting it although the proof will obviously be in the pudding once I've had a couple of nights out in the tent with a bit of a breeze and some rain. I'll post an updated review once we've done this.

For calm weather conditions and a lengthy family holiday this tent fits the bill. If there is likely to be strong winds, it doesn't cope so well. A camping trip to Cornwall with strong winds resulted in 2 broken poles and a substantial tear and we had to abandon that night.
It's fairly simple to put up but needs two people really. The groundsheet isn't that clear with no instructions that help. The two rooms are of a good size but with young children some of the attachments for the partitions didn't last more than one trip.

Just bought this tent from Millets Half price plus %20 part exchange for our old Gelert, first impressions not as good quality as the gelert, With the help (or hindrance) of 7yr twins we erected it in an hour, again time wasted trying to figure out the ground sheet, the salesman told me it was a built in ground sheet, I was very annoyed to find out it was`nt.
My impression is that this is a budget tent even the pegs were cheap and nasty, the zip for the door kept on getting stuck when opened from the inside due to the waterproof zip cover, this is very annoying when it`s raining and you have to go outside to free it off while the inside gets wet.
I bought this tent on impulse because it was vango having used vangos 30 years ago in the scouts and D of E, they used to be the best, not any more, Its annoying that vango stick a price of £399 on and then reduce it to £199 to make us think we`re having a bargain come on Vango and Millets you`re not selling carpets or sofa`s, don`t take your customers for mugs cause we won`t use you any more there are other companies just as good if not better.
To sum up this tent is ok for a long weekend but I would not like it for more than a week in wet and windy weather just seems so flimsy the wind gets under the flysheet. You can get better for your money.
