We have used this tent twice now, found it relatively easy to pitch (2 person job) once up we were impressed at the space inside, it is a 4 man tent however we class it as a comfortable 2 man. We purchased a carpet for the living area and plan on getting another for the bedroom. Some good little extras like the storage pockets in the living area and the easy accessible hook up cable access point. Headroom is good, can stand up and move around in comfort (5'9')

Sleeping area is more than adequate, we have two aluminium framed camp beds and there is room to spare.

We also bought the footprint, big benefit.Keeps the base of the tent clean

Downsides:

As already mentioned by others if you open the front door when raining.Water comes in very easily.

The zip on the door to the sleeping area, should have been accessible from both left and right sides, if inside at a night time you have to go to the bottom right corner for the zip, awkward if you sleep on the left.

Looking forward to using it this year

I have purchased this tent to have a good headroom and for my family of four. My children loved it and I must say this tent really gives you all that you need. I have came back from Italy after a one week camping and unfortunately someone stole my tent poles while I was paying the campsite owner. Can anyone who own one help me and give me how much poles there are in the four needed and which diameter or at least the length of each pole so I can buy a universal ones and use it again. I really love this tent and it would be a pity to leave it in the garage. Thank you all . You are my last hope since the manufacturer never replied back all my mails.

We bought the Gobi 4 after having a look around for our first tent. We liked the space and practicality this design gave for the two of us.

After a little practise pitching on the footprint it only takes us about twenty minutes and is pretty straight forward. With the carpet(s) we've found the tent warm and comfortable.

The negatives are we found a couple of small seepages when it rains heavily over 24hrs and the bag it is supplied with is far too small. The two side doors would have benefited with curtained windows like the front door.

We plan to use the tent more this year, maybe with some re-proofing and definitely with a Zenobia porch.

As an addition to the Gobi 4, very much recommend the Zenobi porch, its not an exact fit, and be warned it does take two to put it up, but great for extra storage (we use it as the kitchen) freeing up the living area. Get a couple of floor tiles and it becomes ideal. You can either use the front as an entrance door or you can remove the whole of the door if you want to sit in the sun.

We have used this twice now, easy to set up, once you get the hang of it. Defo get the carpet, it makes the world of difference, the only down side is the front, if its raining, and you open it, water comes in. Not a bit problem but more of a pain. We this for 2 of us, and have small Hi Gear bedside tables, like a home from home!

Had to decided between a 2010 gobi 4 or a 2011 rock4, so I bought the gobi 4 as it looked better and more water proof.

Took it home and could I pitch this bugger on my own. No! but then, one very windy evening I found how to do it as a solo pitch.

Step 1 - peg down the FRONT, must be the front, put the 2 horizontal poles (grey and thin) in, pitch them up together - if its windy they will flap a bit but keep going.

Step 2 - put in the long diagonal pole that goes from the right of the door (if your inside the tent) and peg that out then do the last remaining pole which sits on the very top and goes from back left to front right.

Now its pitched and wow is it good! - ok, it doesn't have an attached groundsheet but the riser is very good - plus if you get some duct tape it soon becomes attached :o). And ok, its not got the windows a Vango does, but its the little things, like the pockets are on 1 side - big enough for magazines, and the elastic in the poles is actually elasticated and doesn't snap! but the best thing, for me anyway is I'm 6ft6, and I can stand up in this tent, that should tell you its big!

Top tent!

Great tent for the price, sleeps 4 easily, a good starter tent but I may well upgrade for a Corado or maybe a Vango model next summer. Good size living space although it could do with a porch for cooking in and storage as not the best having to carry out stove and table every time I need to cook, ample storage areas and a electric hook up access point on the side, quick and easy to erect even by myself, unless windy! it may be a squeeze if you have loads of gear so maybe consider buying a porch or pick a bigger tent. Any advice on suitable porches or canopy's would be appreciated

I loved this tent, and from reading glowing reviews was excited to have our first outing. I also own a Vango Tigris 8 (excellent tent) but wanted a smaller but roomy weekend tent. I did and still do love the design of this tent, it holds up to wind brilliantly. I also bought the rock 5 canopy which fits this tent but doesn't have the while stripe. I managed to pitch alone in 30 mins (taking down took longer with no one to help push poled out) When I put the bedroom pod up I found the first problem. The seam stitching had caught the body of the pod rendering it unusable. So 4 nights podless commenced! The next problem was the groundsheet didnt lay flat at the edges and I was worried my 5 year old would end up ripping the groundsheet, when I had a good look it turned out the pegging points under the doors where missing, the the reinforcement fabric was there, but no peg points. The next thing. Yes the list goes on. It leaked from the hanging points of the bedroom, and the windows where the toggles are. The last thing was.Because we didnt have the bedroom up I noticed there was a cut by the seam for the different stripes, this had been taped over when the seams where sealed but would have been a weak point.

Need less to say after cutting short the trip it went back to GO for a refund of the tent, canopy and footprint. Its a shame a great design is spoilt by shoddy quality control. Have to say G.O. where great and even took the tent back soaking wet and no quibble refund was given. I have now ordered an Outwell Virginia 5 for £149 from Yeomans, less than I paid for the gobi and footprint. I know Outwell wont let me down on quality!

Just about the best beginner tent on the market today. After trying out camping using a mates tent we decided to buy our own. After much searching and deliberating we decided on the Gobi 4, with just the the 2 of us we found the 2 rooms to be ideal and we bought the carpet for more comfort. We leave the bedroom in when we take the tent down its so much easier to erect next time. However having used it twice we decided we needed even more space so purchased a porch to increase the usable space. We feel we now have the complete package. For now at least :)

Great tent, been to Cornwall for a week , so big, lots of headroom as I'm 6ft 1. Cant wait to go away again to appreciate just how good it is. It was also cheap, got it on a deal with air bed pump and little table for 130, bargain. Hope this info helps you if your ready to go camping, this is the perfect starter tent for couple or with child, will sleep 4 easy
