We were umming and ahhing about buying the carpet to complete our tent but were recommended not to by a representative at Go Outdoors! He told us that several people had reported back that they didn't like it as it is difficult to keep clean. This persuaded us to save 90! We have just spent a week using 3 rugs as our carpet and although it doesn't look as nice, it is a lot easier to pick a small rug up and shake it outside than get all the equipment out before shaking the carpet. Don't waste your money!

I was persuaded to buy the carpet after reading reviews here and am really glad that I did. We have 2 young children and camped for the first time with them last month. The carpet made the tent much more comfortable and the kids were happy to lie/sit on it whilst they played.

Not cheap at £90 but I'd say it was a great addition to our kit.

We bought this at the same time as our tent but compared to our last tent when we used picnic rugs this is true luxury. Spills just mop up no problem, even red wine doesn't stain it, I was amazed. Certainly a must have, I wouldn't be without it now, makes it feel so much warmer underfoot. My friend bought the same tent but without the carpet as she said that with small children it would soon get spoilt with spills etc but she cant believe just what a difference it makes and how easy it is to keep clean.

Have used it several times now , great idea only problem when lifting it to pack away I get static electric shocks up my arms but the family think its funny.

Also purchased the footprint groundsheet which keeps the tent bottom clean and is easier to clean itself when back home.

Camped three times WITHOUT the carpet.Decided that this would improve the experience of camping in the already excellent Outwell Montana 6. Did not regret the decision to add to my Christmas list !

Nice design, co-ordinated with the tent. Gives a homely feel, and warmth late @ night and early morning. If camping on hard ground or hardstanding pitches makes the tent generally more comfortable.

I dropped a kitchen knife the year before purchase; wish we had the carpet as I don't think the knife would have penetrated the sewn in groundsheet. So love the additional protection this gives.

Definitely NOT a luxury too far; go on and buy it. You wont regret it ! Next purchase is the footprint groundsheet !

Would love to hear tips on how best to clean.

I treated us to a carpet this summer - and would really recomend it - so soft and so nicer to feel than the ground sheet. It seems to clean well - muddy footprints wipe up well.

I did wonder if it would somehow secure to the tent with hooks - but it doesn't. However it doesn't seem to move around that much, and is easy to move back if it does.

A real treat - very pleased

Camping with a carpet is a luxury too far isn’t it?

After setting up the Montana 6, our fellow campers looked on in amazement when we fitted the carpet. Our temporary home was nicknamed Buck House. Of course our friends all had a look and a feel and concluded that they will have to get one for their tent.

It truly is a bit of luxury that fits in a reasonably small box. The sewn in groundsheet doesn’t flap about with it fitted and the midnight trek to the toilet doesn’t start with the fanfare walk noise that alerts everyone around you (the zip on the tent will do that instead). It is so comfortable you will want to kick off your shoes and socks and luxuriate. Guests to our tent were very happy to sit on the carpet. Once in place the carpet will not move about and any spills are able to be mopped up before any damage is done. The feel of the tent really does become cosier.

If the carpet were damaged or lost, I would have no hesitation in replacing it. This is an extra that will soon become a necessity.

I don't have one, my friends do and it absolutely is the finishing touch to the tent. We use a combination of picnic rugs in our Nebraska which is ok but the absolute joy of a snug fitting thick fleece carpet - wall to wall - in their Monty six made me kick off my flip-flops and roll about like a cat in front of an open fire. I'm not ashamed to admit it and i'm a 34 y/o bloke. I like the back to basics approach to camping but as an accessory this allows the camping seasons to be extended in the British climate a month each end. Joyous luxury which doesn't get kicked up at the edges, keeps the SIG on the floor when windy and doesn't need to be pulled straight every ten minutes. Recommended - I want one for our Nebraska.

I've just spent a weekend at Great Langdale with relatives and they were trying out their new carpet. I must say, it felt like the lap of luxury compared with what I'm used to in my own tent! It makes such a difference to the comfort and warmth of the living area. Spills are very easily mopped up too (my heart nearly missed a beat when I spilled my lemonade on the brand new carpet but it was dabbed up quickly before it had chance to soak in). Highly recommended for families with children. Only reservation is that it is another heavy load to take away with you and if you are limited for space in a car boot then it is a luxury item that could be left behind but if space in the car isn't an issue then my advice would be to go ahead and take it. Who said you can't have a few home comforts when out camping?!

Would definitely recommend the carpet. We really couldn't decide whether to get one because of the price but it is so worth the money. It makes such a difference to the cosiness of the tent. The kids love to roll around and play on it and we love the warmth it gives early in the morning. Go on treat yourself!
