It was our first time camping, and we have already got the outwell Hartford xl but found many sites weren't accepting our large tent so my husband gave in and we purchased the mojave5 at Go outdoors for £150.

We found it easy to put up and just enough room for the 5 of us and all our gear. (everything but the kitchen sink!)

We had sun and rain and the tent held up to the rain ok, it did get a little wet coming and going out the doors but what else do you expect if its raining!

We are happy with our purchase and are looking forward to using it again.

This is our first tent and we found it easy to erect 25-30 mins not bad for first timers. Plenty of room for the four of us two adults and two young kids. Only one bad point the front door could do with a mossie net.the rooms are spacious and has good ventilation. During wet days there is loads of room to sit inside even with all our gear in the living area.

Just bought this tent and absolutely love it. Out of all tents we have owned it was the easiest and quickest to erect. Lots of room inside and we think that with the sewn in groundsheet and 3000HH is one of the best on the market at the moment for a cost of £149 (Go Outdoors). The only thing we could not comment on at the moment is the actual waterproofing as it did not rain whilst we used it. We even managed to get it back into its own bag which with our other tents mainly Vango is much harder work. Overall for the money I would highly recommend this tent.

UPDATE

I have just arrived back from two weeks of horrendous high winds, torrential rain and generally very bad weather in Anglesey for two weeks and just wanted to say that this tent is superb, it withstood all the bad weather with no leaks, broken poles etc. Absolutely fabulous and would highly recommend.

We have just down sized from a massive rage tent, as it was so big and heavy my husband suffered with his back for days after. We bought the tent and used it this week for the first time, myself 2 kids and my mum, we erected the tent no problems at all, and there really is enough room (i was a bit worried as I was use to a big one). I like it, I like it a lot. O and we did get a lot of comments from people who liked it.

Just back from our first outing official with our Mojave 5. It performed very well, very easy to put up, and only really needed a hand when bending poles into ring and pin system. After that OH finished unpacking the car and started blowing up airbed as I pitched up. We both finished at the same time!

TBH it was dry most of the weekend so no issues with water ingress. Although when we had our trial run a few weeks ago, it poured from the heavens ALL night and we were bone dry. BUT I can see where the previous poster had trouble with drips from a wet roof running straight in when opening side door. This could be an issue on a prolonged wet trip.

Plenty of space inside, bedrooms a good size, and living area coped well in the evening with 5 adults and a wheelchair all inside with doors zipped up. SIG was good, and for us the way it 'sags' at the front door made it easier for our friends son to access in his wheelchair (No way in at sides) Although I can see this being an issue for others. Perhaps some extra velcro along this section may help keep it closed?

Overall, a great starter tent for us, and when son not with us can detach a bedroom to give even more living space inside. Came down just as easily as went up and packed away without much stress.

A good buy at £149.00

Hi, just bought this tent and used for the first time as new campers. Found it really easy to put up and coped well with 2 adults & 2 Kids. After 36 hrs of rain, some torrential, it did start to seep rain. The main reason appeared to be pooling of water between the poles. As it has only 3 poles , it appears difficult to get sufficient tension on the roof panel. Does anyone have any ideas on this ? One reason may be due to the corner guys having 2 location points on the tent , but only a single guy rope, and single peg. If these were seperate guy lines , may work better . Thoughts anyone?. Might give it a try ? . Agree with the comment on the main door, a bug shield here would be good. Also you do need a outside cooking / lounging area if there are 4 + , as not a lot of space , when it is raining.

Having said all this , great tent excellent value @ £150, and we are looking forward to our next trip

Back from our wet whitby trip with the Mojave 5 s first outing. First the positives. Easy to put up, fly screens to both sides of the tent and both sleeping compartments. Plenty of vents, no condensation. The negatives we found was the tent leaked in from the ground sheet and after prolonged rain (all bloody day and night) parts of the roof section started to leak. (not much though)

The main negative was the groundsheet was sewn in to only the 3 sides leaving one hell of a draft from the front section that was not.(why bother with the fly screens?) due to the weather we experienced we also noted the amount of rain that enters the tent every time you enter exit from either the front or side doors from the tents design slant. The other negative in my own view is no windows. That may be a good or a bad thing in others eyes though. The tent does seem well made but just was not for us. Currently in the market for the higear corado 6 I think

Just had our first outing with the Mojave and I think we're impressed.

As others have said, it's very roomy - the big bedroom fit in 2 adults on airbeds, and well as our dog (in his crate!). The second room we use for storage, but it would easily fit 2 adults. The living area is also very roomy - perhaps 2 roomy for 2 of us, but it certainly came in useful when it was too wet to leave the tent!

The Mojave is easy to erect - it takes the two of us about 25 minutes from start to finish, but we're still novices. You do need at least two people though, especially in the wind, as the whole thing was threatening to take off when we did it!

We had a lot of wind and torrential rain - the tent held up very well in the wind. It performed ok in the rain, but after 24 hours of it we did have some leaks through the ceiling - a few drips on the top of the bedroom bits. Still - everything stayed almost-dry and once the rain stopped the tent dried out very quickly.

It's easy to pack away too, which is always a bonus for us, and it you pack it well (we managed to pack it better than it came when we bought it) the tent bag shrinks and becomes a bit more manageable. The bag is great though - makes it easy to transport.

So, all in all I'd say it's a good novice family tent, as long as you don't have more than a couple of days of driving rain!

I've downsized from a Vango Vista 800 which was a fantastic family tent, but family and friends have bought their own tents, so the vista 800 was too large. We looked round a was stuck between Vango Icarus 500 and Mojave 5, we took advice and bought the Icarus got it home and erected it and found it wasn't for us.

We felt the doors wouldn't keep my dog secure and he would get out, so we purchased the Mojave 5 and what a great tent, both side doors zip fully round and have mossie nets so you can have both doors open and no insects get in. The bedrooms are very spacious and are separate 3 and 2, the living area is very good, enough room for all our equipment and at night we had 6 adults and a large dog in and was comfortable. We had all weathers scorching sun(the side doors opened with nets down and let fresh air in), high winds (the tent stood up very well) and torrential rain (not one leak). We erected and pegged out in 20 mins and dismantled in about the same time, no problems at all. Great Tent For first timers and diehards alike. P.S Don't listen to reps at go outdoors ha ha.

Manufacturer's Description

Easy to erect, easy to dismantle, and offering generous living space, the Mojave 5 is a great choice for families wanting comfortable, fuss-free camping, or couples wanting extra space for storage and fun.

It pitches outer first, with separate 3 and 2 person rooms that clip in to the underside.

With taped seams, a sewn-in groundsheet and completely waterproof outer layer (3000HH), you can be sure of total protection from rain and draughts.

The poles are angled to give you maximum headroom throughout the tent, so no need to stoop when you're inside. The pole sleeves have slick inners to make pitching the tent quick and easy.

In warmer weather, the breathable inner and 2 side doors with full mesh panels give you superb ventilation and allow plenty of light into the tent. The large front door can be extended out as a canopy, using the steel porch poles, offering shelter from sunshine or rain.

It has bright and reflective pre-attached guylines to keep it stable and secure, and more visible in the dark. There's also a electrical cable access point allowing you to use appliances inside the tent with the minimum of fuss.

A practical and versatile option for families, group campers or anyone who needs comfort and breathing room when out in the wild.
