User Reviews of the Stanedge

I bought this tent as a `basecamp` tent for camping solo. It can fairly easily be put up by one person when there is little wind. I`ve used it with two people but think it would start getting cramped in the living area with 4 or more adults. Maybe ok with a family of four with small children. An advantage is the height which allows you to standup in most of the tent.
I could never get the fly to fit well although I`ve owned a number of tents and would not count myself as a novice. This meant a lot of flapping in any wind. Also the inner tent did not fit well which is annoying.
During heavy rain the tent seemed to cope well and did not leak. There was some condensation but not a major problem.
After a few uses one of the poles split lengthways for no obvious reasons and had to be replaced. The final straw was when camping at Thurso there was what I would call only moderate winds which split 3 more poles at which point the tent was skipped.
I would say this tent is fine for two adults in summer when the wind is not a problem. I bought this at a discounted price of about £90 , I dont think it was a good buy.

The Peakland Stanedge is a good sized tent without bordering on the 'overly large' category. It is more than adequate for 2-3 people but can easily take a family of 4 or with a bit more of a squeeze 5-6 people.
There is good standing room with most adults being able to stand at full height in the vestibule area. There are two bedrooms at the back of the tent (one slightly bigger than the other) again with very good head room. They are divided by a separate fly-sheet curtain which is hung from loops. The vestibule area can also easily accommodate two adults relaxing in camping chairs out of the rain.
The tent is pitched interior first and the outer-flysheet pulled over. If its raining when pitching the tent this isn't such a good design. It has two doors - biggest one at the front and a slightly smaller side door. It has two clear plastic windows.
There poles, threading and guy ropes are fairly standard and aren't at all complex to put together and pitch the tent.
The biggest drawback with the Peakland Stanedge is that once erect the interior can be very 'droopy' with the interior tent sagging especially in the vestibule area above the plastic windows and door area. This isn't a consequence of not pitching the tent correctly, we've done it often enough to get it right (the trick is stretching and pegging the interior ground sheet to a perfect and tight rectangle first before inserting the poles and lifting the tent up). The sagging is caused by the tent panels being stitched slightly off pattern meaning that one side fits well and is tight but the other side has an extra few centimetres of fabric and hangs slightly.
All-in-all I would say the Peakland Stanedge is a good value for money family sized tent. Its best advantage is the standing room inside. It is quite a robust and straight forward tent to pitch. The sagging interior doesn't cause any problems but it can become annoying more than anything else (you just want to stretch out all those saggy bits!)

This fantastic new invention turns a can of drink into a sealed bottle, protecting drinks from being spilt, keeping out creepy crawlies, and keeping fizz in. They are a must for any camper or caravanner.
