4 Reviews of the Kent
By: Mrwoo1234 Reason: I own(ed) one Made in: 2007 Rating: Date: 06/08/2011
I bought my eurohike Kent in 2007, I purchased it because I liked the prospect of having a separate porch area away from the sleeping compartment, pitching the tent correctly is easy with only three poles to erect. The biggest downfall with this tent is because the groundsheet lies close to the floor, the porch area can become somewhat flooded in areas, another drawback is the positioning of the doors as when it rains and you open the doors rainwater drips from the top of the opening and falls on the groundsheet. I have used mine twice now, but I am seriously thinking about buying another, as the eurohike Kent fails to impress in rainy conditions!

I bought this for festivals as it works really well without guy ropes (which invariably get tripped over at festivals). In the worst winds we have encountered I pitched it back to the wind with just 2 ropes attached until it calmed.
It is quick and easy to put up (I regularly do it alone) easily fits a double airbed, has a good size porch so you aren't sleeping on top of all your stuff.
It can be a little drafty on cold nights, and the way it pitches does mean the bottom of the fly sheet sometimes sits on the ground collecting moisture. But we wrap up warm and have never had any damp inside the tent. And we took it to some of the wettest Glastonbury festivals and survived completely dry when all around us were swimming :o)

I changed my old good tent (15 years old) for this one but I think I made a mistake!
The fly sheet touch the ground so in the morning, it is full of water (condensation). With my old tent, the fly sheet was about 4 cm above the ground and I never had so much water.
If you don't peg it correctly and it's quiet difficult, as you can see in the customer pictures, the inner touch the fly sheet and drops of water (condensation) fall inside.
The inner have two ''breathable' triangles'' so cold air can easily enter inside. The 'breathable' material up the inner door which you can close would have be enough. Or make the 'triangles' 'close-able'.
The large porch with 2 doors and ground sheet was the reason I bought it. Travelling by motorbike, I put my old good tent in the bin. What a mistake!
Two words for this tent : Wet and Cold.

We bought a Kent when it was in the end of season sale. I think we paid £30 for it in Millets. It's a great little tent, the large porch being the main reason we went for it but a roomy sleeping space too. It stood up to one major storm (and lots of rain) in Northern Spain in September. Very good value for money - only quibble is that there aren't enough internal pockets, but it's a minor drawback.
