Brilliant tent. But definitely worth practising with. Stands up to anything the British weather can throw at it, once you have wrestled it up. My other half and I have fully set up in 40 minutes. Practice makes perfect. Though not without the odd argument.

Plenty of living space, even for a very wet holiday.

If you really want to test a tent surely the best thing to do is to give it to a couple of newbies, drive them 6 hours from home & then subject the tent to the worst storm to hit Cornwall for over 10 years.

Well that is exactly what we did. I have not been camping for 15 years, the OH had never spent a night under canvas & then we threw in 6 year old twins for good measure.

Two practice runs in the garden was the only preparation but come the day, which was luckily dry, the tent, despite it's complicated design went up in little over 30 minutes (It does take two people) & was as tight as a drum.

The storm hit that night with 40 mile an hour gusts & persistant driving rain which would have challenged the hydroscopic head of any tent. Despite all that nature had to throw at us the tent remained as it should with not even a hint of a leak, where as the following morning revealed what could have been as many of the surrounding tents were flattened. Gazebos & awnings had simply gathered at one end of the field in a mass tangle of cloth & fibreglass.

The Diablo 400 offers a more than spacious living area, 2 sleeping pods good enough for 2 people each but without additional storage space, more than ample head height & a SIG covering the living & bedroom areas. The porchway come kitchen area comes with a separate ground sheet which was ideal as shoes, naturally covered in mud, could be left out of the main living area without the need to teeter on one leg trying to get inside the tent. What's more it could be easily detached allowing it to be taken out & cleaned. The additional rear exit also came in handy once the quagmire out the front became too much to bare.

In conclusion I have to say I am very impressed with the performance of this tent, which only cost us £165-00 from new. If you want additional storage space in the bedroom pods you may be better looking at the 600 but other than that I cannot find much to fault it. One of the pole sections did split but given the abuse it took & how it stood up in comparison to many around us, I am not surprised.

Would I recommend this tent. The answer is one big YES

As it was my first time using it, I dragged along a friend as I very much doubted a newcomer could put this tent up alone. I was right.

It was quite straightforward ,colour matching poles that made it so easy, but getting them all through and stood up alone should only attempted by an experienced camper! (I'm not!)

Inside is very spacious, I took my 3 children and a friend and there was ample room for everyone and our kit. Good quality materials and a good practical design made storage and tidying up both quick and easy.

Only had a bit of rain so no real worries about leakage or any wind problems (apart from the obvious!) The 400 xp is a very sturdy design and could withstand a fair amount of hard weather. I have no gripes with this tent and would heartily recommend to anyone thinking of purchasing one. We stayed for a week and had no problems at all. Good stuff. Can't wait to go again!

This is the first tent I have owned, the tent was reasonably priced. The first time we pitched this was in the back garden and took approximately 1.5 hours,as this is an inner pitch first I hope with a bit more practise we can cut the time down. The end results are well worth the effort. The bedrooms are large although I feel you will climb over people to go to the loo due to the orientation of the room. The living area is massive compared to most and is a major buying point, there are three doors one to the rear between the bedrooms, a J door to the right of the porch area and a front door. The porch area is ideal for storage and even cooking it has a detachable bathtub ground sheet so there is no need to wear outdoor shoes in the living area which has a sewn in ground sheet to keep draughts and bugs out. All in all this is the baby version of the Diablo 900 and 600. There are plenty of windows with um mesh. It also appears very sturdy and able to stand strong winds with its geodesic setup.
