This tent is ideal for short breaks if you are a family of 4 (but would only think with small children)it didn't let us down once even though we had heavy rain on arrival and through the first night, and then heavy wind of the last two days. No leaks and didn't have to get out once to check the guys (unlike the tent next door)
On the idea of carpets and footprints - the Outwell Explorer looks identical for both - however if you want a cheaper carpet, we found that our friends Vango albany 400 carpet was a perfect fit. All in all a really good tent (much better than putting up the Montana 6 for the weekend - which the wife wanted me to do!) Had an issue with a split cane pole but easily repaired (although the spare bit that they gave was the wrong diameter) Would recommend highly!

The tent is good for a couple of adults or a couple with 2 Children. The only drawback that I can see with this tent, is that you are unable to get any accessories, ie footprint ground sheet or either a canopy or extension, the later which I believe is vital if you have a family camping in wet weather. There is no where to take off muddy shoe's before entering the lounge. Part of the tent, as we all know what a pain that is. I have also looked into the poles of this tent, as other Outwell tents like it are 10 cm larger in width and length so if one was damaged would you be able to find one. I am hoping that either Argos or Outwell will address this problem.
