Just an update on my previous review. We have just returned from a beautiful weekends camping at Fforest Fields. We experienced some pretty wild winds whilst there, but the tent stood fast with no damage whatsoever. I have read on the forums of some campers who have sadly had their tents damaged on the same weekend. Cannot rate this tent highly enough. Plenty of room, easy to put up and it stays up!

Even though there are only 3 of us, we purchased this tent for the size and space it gives us. We tend to use the bedroom at one end only so we have lots of space in the rest of the tent. I would highly recommend this tent as it's spacious, fairly easy to put up and we always manage to get it back in the bag!

I've already done a review based on trying the tent out in the garden, but we've been away in it now, so here's my 'proper' views!
I haven't actually got much to add - we still love it, we've got the tent, footprint, porch and carpet and combined together they make a fab tent for any family.
The sleeping pods are very roomy, we used the 4 man one and had ample room to get in and out of bed and get dressed etc either side of our air beds. Our 4 yr old used another and we kept the 3rd one as a 'spare room' and used it to keep the storage bags in and our clothes and other bits and bobs.
Putting it up is straightforward, we even got it packed away with not too much trouble and got the zip done up this time (!)
The wind picked up on the 3rd night we were away, so just to be on the safe side we swapped some of the pegs supplied with Delta ones for the guylines, but I don't think we needed to, the tent didn't budge.
The carpet was a lovely addition, much cosier than the groundsheet underfoot.
The only additional downside is the room it all takes in the car boot - the tent is in 2 bags (one for the outer and the other for the poles and inners), the carpet comes in a big bag, the porch is in another(and it weighs a ton as it's got steel poles). So you'll need a biggish boot or a trailer to get it all in! We had to take a roofbox for our clothes/blankets etc as the boot of our Zafira was full of tent bags. Tables etc
I'm really pleased with it overall and looking forward to many years of happy holidays with it.

We've not used our tent while away as yet so this review is just based on our initial thoughts after putting it up in the garden for a few days, I'll do a proper review when we get back after using it properly next week.
We wanted a large tent even though it will be primarily just for 3 of us - although I have 2 older teenagers who may come with us from time to time. I also wanted somewhere to cook and store food etc outside of the main living area which was another reason why we bought this tent, as the porch is huge! (I'll review that separately)
The tent was fairly straightforward to put up, even for beginners like us - all the poles are colour coded so you can't go wrong. I was a bit wary when a couple creaked as we put the pins in but apparently this is normal?
We couldn't guy the tent out properly due to lack of room - it only just fitted in the garden - but even so it was very solid and sturdy.
The space inside is enormous! We're planning on having a large table in there to eat at, our chairs and a smaller table to use for chargers, ipod dock etc but there'll still be plenty of space even with all 3 bedroom pods up.
Also, it's really bright and airy inside - if you want a darker tent, don't go for the sandshell colourway. I like it that way though - we borrowed a navy blue Outwell last year, the weather was awful and I found it really dark and gloomy inside with all the doors shut.
The bedroom pods are a good size - in the smaller pods there is plenty of room for my son's Readybed with ample space to spare for toys/clothes etc
And in the larger pod, I've had an Intex double height airbed in my half and there's still loads of room to get out of bed and get dressed etc.
There's 2 hanging storage thingies, one for under each window with plenty of sturdy pockets which will be useful.
Also, there's 2 zipped slots for your EHU cable, with velcro ties up and across the roof of the tent so you don't have loose cables lying around which is good! There's lamp hooks too in the main tent and in the pods for hanging lightweight lanterns.
I can only think of 2 minor niggles so far (I may find more when we use it properly!)
1) The main doors zip from top to bottom on each side whereas the bug screens zip all the way round. I made the mistake of just zipping the main door up and leaving the fly screen rolled up and somehow our cat managed to sneak in through the gap at the bottom.I doubt a wild animal would do so while we're away but you never know!
2) One end of the tent opens up fully (although you'd only be able to do this if you weren't using all the pods) Again, this door only zips from top to bottom on each side, there's a few toggles to attach the groundsheet to the tent but there's still gaping holes - I might take some self adhesive velcro with us and try and close these up a bit or else it could be draughty.And again, something might get in?
All in all we're delighted with the tent and really looking forward to going away with it next week.
Oh I nearly forgot - the footprint is highly recommended, it made putting the tent away a doddle as we weren't crawling around on damp grass. It made it easier to pitch too as we could work out in advance the best place to put the tent.
We've got a carpet on order but I can't comment on that as it's not arrived!

Recently changed to the Horizon 8 having got a great deal from Camping World in Horsham. The tent is really well made, with some excellent features and innovative design to make life with the tent that little bit easier.
The tent pitches in one piece using 5 flexi poles. Pegging on one long side first, makes pitching that little bit easier. Takes about 30mins from ground sheet to moving in. Inner bedrooms give the partioning for kids 'rooms', and having the carpet gives the tent that homely feel.
Really like the flexible entrances, but I'd recommend an additional porch to give you some cooking space under canvas. Our blue was a little bright in the mornings compared to our previous tent.
All the usual modern tent features included - EHU entrance slot, cable runs, fly screens, storage, light hooks, clear windows and ventilation.
Packing away was equally as simple and amazingly all fitted in the original cases with minimal fuss.
Absolutely fabulous tent and perfect for weekend adventures or week long family holidays.

This is a fab tent roomy,easy to erect 28mins including pegging and 45 in 25mph winds!
The only downside is unless you have the porch awning which is really handy to cook in! the rain will run into the tent as you open the doors!
Other than this we have just returned from a really,really wet and windy weekend in Tenby and this tent did us proud,no leaks put up fast and taken down fast. I have given it a 9 out of 10 due to the water issue by the doors.
You can pick up this for £230 now down from £506! go get one and know you have a quality tent rather than some cheap version from ebay! hope this helps! oh and our tent had 2 adults 1 teenager 1 9 year old 1 2year old and a black Labrador!

We bought this as our first tent earlier this year. Our choice was based largely on the reviews here and we have not been let down. We took the advice of more than one reviewer and bought both the footprint groundsheet and the carpet. I would say these are a must as they make your experience so much more comfortable. Our first trip was in the Easter holidays in North Wales. We went with family who had their own tent but in the evening, all 8 of us sat comfortably in camping chairs in the living area. This really is a tent suitable for 8 in comfort. We've just got back from a week in Dorset camping alongside Chesil Beach so a lot of wind from the sea. There was also some wet weather, but we were warm and dry the whole time - the tent didn't let us down at all. Would definitely recommend this tent to anyone!

I can only re-iterate what ljhomer has said really.
The tent is brilliant, my wife and I use the large bedroom for a double and the storage of our clothes, the 2 kids have a small bedroom each ( double room ) so plenty of room for the air beds and clothes and stuff.
In the living compartment we comfortably have a folding table and chairs, 2 folding Vango chairs, and 2 inflatable chairs, plus the electric cool box, and theres still room for us.
We also think the tent, is completely finished off if you go the step further and purchase the porch and carpet, they both make the tent completely cosy and so much easier for keeping clean and tidy.
The footprint is also a must have for ease of positioning and keeping clean.
So easy to erect, and so easy to re-pack into the bag, and it comes in 2 bags, so it goes in the car easily.
Im knew to this, and have used it twice, for 4 days in Wales, and 10 days in St Ives, and I feel I know everything, because its all so easy with this outfit.

Being brand new to camping I needed a tent I could put up on my own relatively easy as a single mum of one – who is a little short to help just yet – so specifically wanted a fibreglass poled tent and being tall something I could stand in and with enough room in case is it rained for a week, but also with enough room for friends/relatives to camp with us. After much research and reading the reviews on here I went for the Horizon 8.
I got the footprint which I have to say is invaluable – makes the job of positioning the tent so much easier, especially for a novice! It took me about 1 hour to pitch it the first time and that was only because it was a windy day and I hadn’t learnt the useful tips yet. I got the porch too which is brilliant for the camp kitchen and a table for the inevitable dumping of “stuff” and also bringing the chairs etc at night, stops the rain dripping in the door flap. Takes a bit of getting used to putting up though and a great tip (which I learnt after) is tying a weight to the straps that go over the tent – instead of what I did and have my son ready the other side to catch the straps, several goes later and he could reach them.
The tent carpet is great too and makes it feel so much cosier inside, the bedroom pods are good sizes, one small one is used for storage, my son has the other and I have the large one which can fit a kingsize airbed. No leaks so far and ventilation is very good too. All in all I am really pleased with my choice, great tent!

Having not camped for 10 years, and last time was in an old frame tent I was interested to see how the 'new' tents pitch. The Gelert Horizon 8 was a dream - 5 poles, all colour coded - we were pitched and all set up within an hour.
The porch was the only tricky part - but I think that will be easier with practice. A definite must for wet weather as table, chairs and cooker all fit in with plenty of space to move around.
We only used the main pod and one of the pods at the other end - the space left was just right to use as a kitchen area.
We were pitched on hard standing and some of the tiny stones got between the footprint and the sewn in groundsheet causing tiny holes and the inevitable water seeping in when it rained. We used lots of tape to cover the holes but not much more we could do apart from that. The rest of the tent held up to the torrential downpours we had.
I especially like the hanging pockets on both sides of the tent - realy useful for keeping the clutter at bay.
Having a door on both sides of the tent is also great on hot days as having both open created a lovely through draft.
My only niggle with this tent is that in the mornings it is very bright in the pods (we have the blue version)- I remember the inner tents in our old frame tent were quite dark so being woken early by the sun was never a problem. I have invested in an eye mask - but glad to say it never woke my 3 year old.
