Excellent family tent, loads of room for when the weather is bad and 3 good size bedrooms.
The only problem we had is the colour coding on the poles is reversed so was a little awkward the first time we pitched it but not a problem.
With the tunnel on the front for cooking and storing wellies and muddy clothes it is great for all weathers.
Nice skylight and good sized windows it is overall a great tent.

This tent has got every thing you need for a family tent,3 spacious bedrooms skylights in the roof and 3 air vents.Quite awkward to put the outer over if you are short in size. The only problem with this older version is that you have to put the inner up first which means if it is raining it gets wet.But on the whole a good tent will be looking to upgrade.

After months of considering an upgrade from our last tent, finally decided to opt for the Hartford XL with 'extras' as part of an online web exclusive (tent,ext, carpet and footprint). As a party of 7 (and dog) thought that the size would suit our needs and we were not disappointed.
The tent is pitched in one stage, with colour coded pegs for anchorage points, guy ropes and storm flaps, which makes it so user friendly, its easy to pitch. The three integral pods have added storage pockets and a dedicated stowage pouch for the door when unzipped. Being used to camping found the tent was easy to pitch and had it up in an hour, with extension (thanks pops). The central area within the tent is brilliant for size, with electric access, sewn in groundsheet, which with halogen heater did keep the evening chills out.
During warmer weather, the central pod can be collapsed to allow the rear door to be opened to allow airflow, along with air vents over each of the 3 pods. It is extremely sturdy in 'blowy' weather as we found out while camping near an estuary with tidal changes came the winds which didnt bother the sturdy design.
All in all a brilliant tent and so glad we finally got one. If you are considering an upgrade or would like a larger tent for comfort, the Hartford XL is certainly one worth considering!

We bought this tent with all equipment 2nd hand, it was the best purchase we made. Its a brilliant size, both in the middle dome and the sleeping pods. A little tricky to put up but once you find your way its spot on. We haven't come across problems gaining site pitches although I always check and assume extra cost, probably better that way. The tent is always admired, and once packed away properly we have managed to get it, all equipment, 2 children and 2 adults into a 3 door Honda Civic. All in all brilliant!

Love this tent, once we found a large enough, even pitch. I think we gave many of the other campers some entertainment as I (all 5' 1' of me) dived into the centre to hold up the poles.
Great tent it if you are pitching for a week or more. Or if you are going away with friends. The central atrium means that if the weather is poor there is lots of space.
The main entrance 'Porch' makes an excellent garage for the mountain bikes, walking boots etc and is separated by a door into the main domed area. We removed the opposite bedroom and used it as an entrance, plus there was space for the camping kitchen to keep the main area clear.
This is the second Outwell we have owned, the quality is excellent.The 2 point guy system, the fluorescent guys, string seams, weather proof zips, ventilation, windows, height in the inner tents/ bedrooms, plenty of storage pockets out of view. Even a cat flap (well its for electricity, but it looks like one)
We tend to use the Vango Equinox for weekends in the UK (need to be able to cope in all weathers).
For touring abroad we use a Quechua Seconds Base with a 3 man pop up. We toured through the Rhone Alps last year with this and it was superb, up and down in seconds.
Overkill for two of us perhaps, but we like to be prepared for all types of camping.

Large tent, a bit fiddly to put up, but ok when you get the hang of it. Great space with 3 separate sleeping pods, cosy with carpet, integral porch handy for storage and cooking. Recent upgrade to Montana 6, poles of Hartford got brittle and needed replacing, so was starting to cost us, would recommend to large families, but due to width of tent need to check pitch sizes with site as they may charge extra for size

Fantastic tent with fully sewn in groundsheet (ideal if you have dogs like I do). Absolutely massive living space with four double bedrooms. I've used this tent several times now over the last couple of years and it has stood up to everything the weather could possibly throw at it, including the Lake District through the particularly wet weather this summer. Has all the usual features, storage, zippable cable gap, points for hanging a light in the middle, plus a large front porch, useful for boots and wet clothes etc. Easy to pitch (given the size) and takes less than 30 minutes for two of us to put up
The only drawback is that it's an inner first, ok for 90% of the time, but not the best if you need to put up the tent in the rain.

We bought our Outwell Hartford XL a couple of weeks ago and took it out for a little pitching practice this afternoon. It was a little windy but after watching pitching videos and reading the instructions we felt very confident. Out first tent was a Cabanon Jupiter trailer tent and that took us 3 hrs the first time! so we were very surprised when after just an hour we had our new tent pitched and ready to add the extension which took a further half hour mainly due to the wind picking up further.
Internally this tent is very spacious and has plenty of head height. We really like the skylight windows for added day light and hopefully a bit of stargazing too. The extension added plenty of space too should be great for an eating space and sitting out on an evening.
We are delighted and cannot wait to experience our first camping trip in this tent, hopefully before the end of the month. Taking the tent and extension down was very simple also, this took just under an hour. The advice to leave to door open when packing away made a huge difference to getting the tent folded and rolled back into bag as the air was able to escape much easier.

We bought our Hartford xl as a second hand model several years ago and then let it sit under the stairs for a year before we braved putting it up. We had always had frame and canvas tents so we're a little dubious about it. Why I will never know.
So that we didn't look total amateurs we took it to a local country park in the middle of the week and put it up so that we looked like we knew what we were doing. It was only upon doing this that we discovered there were actually a couple of faults with it. A rip in the channelling for one of the bedrooms and a repaired rip in the flysheet. Both of these proved not to be a problem and the rain has never come through.
We usually camp with 2 adults and 1 teenager or just the 2 adults. The space in the tent is fantastic and gives up plenty of room to store stuff. We don't do rough camping lol
The end of last year we were looking for a sun canopy to put out the front and were unable to find one due to the age of the tent but we had been told that a Vango sun canopy would fit. We bought one with some trepidation and waited for our holiday in Plymouth to try it out. It fitted well and just extended the space perfectly as we were able to cook in there and still sit out under the canopy talking to friends whilst it was raining.
This tent has withstood high winds and thunderstorms without leaks or problems. It takes the two of us roughly 1/2 an hour to erect it and the finishing touches (ie putting the camp kitchen etc up) then take about an hour.
We have decided to upgrade to the new 2010 model and plan on going camping in it on Thursday. Watch this space as to our experience with it {:o)

Love the tent. Got the XL version so wife and I in one pod, my 6 year old lad in another and my 10 year old daughter in another. They both get the privacy they want and don't disturb each other.
Putting up is just over an hour and needs 2 people. We have got the carpet as well and this makes it warm in the night when you have to take that midnight stroll.
I like the little touches of the storage pockets, the zip hole for the electric and the hoops inside to hang lights from.
My only complaint is that I would have preferred and larger porch area.
